    I'm glad you got it sorted out. I'd heard BD-Live can cause a lot of freezing issues regardless of player. I bought my Sony X700 four years ago (this week in fact) and BD-Live was one of the features I turned off pretty much immediately after setting up the player. I have never had a single movie freeze on me including my (very small) collection of 4K discs. I'd love a UB9000 by the way but am floored at what the price is here in Canada when you can find it.

    I have the problem of my UB820K showing static/snow randomly over the screen. Many said to change the HDMI and I have, still happens. Then many said to use a shorter HDMI cord and that only worked for 2 movies in a row and then it went back to have static. The screen is not full of static/snow but just scatters across the screen. I don't know if it's also a specific setting in the menu. The player plays DVDs and blu-rays without issue and yes I have cleaned my 4K discs as well as the cases.

    I've kept the BD-Live feature off since using my very first Blu-ray players - a Panasonic DMP-BD10A and Oppo BDP-83 - and do so with my current UB9000, but in the case of the 9000, it never fixed any playback issues it had.
    The problem with these players today, even flagship models like this (unfortunately), is that the drives just aren't built to last - my UB9000 was sent in for a replacement drive after the disc drawer began cogging and vibrating harshly upon closing, while also freezing up on most 4Ks. After only about a year of use with the new drive, it's doing the same thing again - discs are also taking forever to load, and some DVDs refuse to load altogether.
    You either have to keep sending them in for repairs or new drives, or continue buying new ones every few years.

    • @andreassouth1523
      @andreassouth1523 18 дней назад

      Did you change it under warranty or while the warranty has expired? How much did they charge you for changing the drive? How long have you had the 9000?

    This proves that any player that relies on firmware updates to play the latest disks
    will always have an issue withe certain titles.
    These sort of issues were the curse of DVD's that were player fussy until their firmware
    was updated.
    Thankfully this time the fix was easy, i have a number of titles that my Oppo 205 refuses to
    play, which is no surprise as the firmware is no longer updated.

    Come to think of it has that problem. Thanks for the information. I turn off also in the setting the automatic turn on. Its good ir panasonic ub420, ub820 an ub9000. More of issue fro ub420 an ub820. Other wise the machine is alway hot even if turn it off. Ub9000 less of an issue because case if bigger. Only takes few seconds more to turn on when yiu put a 4k disk in it. Also disk might freeze less because machine less hot like ub420 or un820. Ub9000 has better sound, picture more clear to me. Ub820 I return it. Only foun on internet after that trick to turn off the automatic setting.

    • @MikeMargolis-j8f
      @MikeMargolis-j8f 18 дней назад

      If you're referring to the QUICK START function, that's not an "automatic turn on;" it merely regulates the time it takes for the unit to come out of standby (leaving Quick Start off also does something like a cold reboot of the processor every time, or at least I've been told; I've gone from leaving Quick Start on to leaving it off).
      This feature shouldn't have even been implemented on 4K players - most previous BD players never offered this setting, and it's just redundant IMO. Let the player turn on and off on its own recogniscense, so to speak....

    • @andreassouth1523
      @andreassouth1523 18 дней назад +1

      So you're saying that the 820 and 420 get hotter than the 9000? I've had the 9000 for a year and I was thinking about getting the 820 next year so I have two in case they stop producing Blu-ray players. Because the 820 is half the price. But since it's inferior to the 9000 in sound and picture as you say, then I'll get another 9000 in the future.

    • @MikeMargolis-j8f
      @MikeMargolis-j8f 18 дней назад +1

      It's weird that Pacific Rim would suddenly begin playing after BD Live was disabled, because it's a 4K title and BDL was designed for first generation Blu-ray discs.
      At any rate, with regard to David's comment above - I don't recommend leaving BDL on unless you absolutely have to use that feature, though I do not believe this had anything to do with Chris's playback issues. If you read my post in the beginning of the comments section, you'll see where I talk about the poor drives being the culprit of most of these problems.
      On the other hand, I can't explain why Pacific Rim began working for him the next day after shutting off BDL.... I'm thinking it was a random coincidence, but only time will tell.
