I’ve seen such an improvement in Mikel’s work as a manager, when you watch Arsenal you can see a vision, a philosophy, a style. That is the sign of a coach who understands the game and the players understanding him. I believe he can go a long way as a manager, he needs time with the youth he has brought in, but give him the time, and we’ll be back at the top sooner than people think.

Give the guy time, in his first season we started rescuing draws from the jaws of defeat against teams like Chelsea. This wasn't even happing under Wenger in his last 5 years. He also beat every other top manager in the league within 12 months. Something Wenger also couldn't do. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. @@tombarnes8843 well…. I was judging based off of 1/half seasons under him at the time we gave a manager who finished higher than he ever had so far and almost won us a European title. With a far worse team n less financial backing a lot less time and patience biased off of bad football and sketchy results. Emery should have been sacked 100% but we are supposed just blindly backing a man who is doing alot worse than the previous managers because of a “process/project”
Yess we’ve seen some so far worthy additions to the squad and they’re performing well which edu should get a lot more credit for than he is. But we’ve seen better runs of form with a better squad of players with one of our best managers at the helm during that time.
So I’m not going to blindly back the man till I see real progress at the end of the season which for me is top 6

Also I think people are quick to forget how woeful Emery's football actually was, we would park the bus against teams like Leicester concede 25 shots and constantly hope they didn't go in, he had no idea of his best team and in the end was just trying anything like torreira at 10.
Mikel came to us very raw, and mistakes were going to be apparant and still will be. But he quickly got rid of the bad personalities, mesut, William, guendouzi and got us playing as a team again. We will have a rough patch in the future, it's inevitable with this young team. Please don't call for the manager to be sacked and give him time to turn it around. He really is building something. It may take 5 years, it may take 6 but to be under 40 and have victories Vs lampard, klopp, guardiola, ole, Moyes etc. In a few years I can see him being something very special.

@@tomfrost2600 I think he's just a manager suited to Spain. You could tell he was struggling with the language and from watching the players it felt they couldn't understand what he was asking of them.
Ultimately individual quality gets you only so far, the initial 10 game run when he first came papered over cracks, we were winning games 2-1 and 3-2 with auba and Laca on top form. Eventually their form dipped and the defence stayed woeful. Then he started parking the bus to try and get clean sheets but we conceded soo many shots all the time and totally nullified our own attack. Sacking became an inevitability at that point.

I don't know if this was scripted or not but it is very clear that Mikel Arteta is more than just a football manager at this club, he is (or at least the ownership thinks) as the another 'Arsene Wenger' type face of the club. whether this works or not is up for debate but he seems to say the right things and recent results are answering some questions(not all but some) on the pitch as well.

Yes that's why sometimes i think being a manager isnt always about winning and getting trophies.... you have to manage the players performance, their contracts ( lacazete current contract situation for ex), their happiness, their healt, club financial problems , connect with the fans, and the most important thing is you love the club and proud to representing the club....... imagine if arsenal sign mourinho isnstead of arteta, if mourinho won the trophies he won it for himself , he cant connect with the fans the way arteta did, and he prolly loves chelsea or real madrid more than arsenal..... thats what i like about arteta

And if he's successful he could be managing for 30+ years. In todays world of football management its a pipe dream to expect him to stay here for that amount of time no matter how successful he is.
In my opinion it he wins the prem a few times and especially the UCL with us he'll make a move elsewhere like barca

    Arteta (Esq)
Joined when players on a lower income were demotivated by the fact they were the ones scoring and defending, while players on a higher income were not highly productive.
The club had a lot of deadwood, Arteta was unable to bring more new players into the payroll without having got rid of the not good enough players.
Also getting just one or two marquee signing would not have sealed the cracks in the Arsenal squad.
But now the club is in a the right position to sign a brilliant striker.
