It will never reset if its an aftermarket sensor. Never! Only other way to make sure its not the rear stopping the warning from going out. if all fails take a gem clip and jump it
@@Spiritualwarfare587 I was just asking you what you mean by saying put the car in neutral on another comment you left. I think the issue is many people use their parking brake, and that's the hangup. I don't use a parking brake, so that's why it worked for me in PARK with no issue. My only issue was that one of my brake sensor wires got damaged when I pulling it off the caliper. Got a new one and BAM...done deal. Light went away.
Very welcome, brotha! Glad it worked the first time thru. Some folks are worried when it doesn't work, but it will. I did like you did; replaced the sensor too.
It works when you release the E-Brake. I also had same issue, but finally worked upon releasing the E-Brake before engaging in the reset procedure. Hope this helps....
Bam!!! See, I never use the handbrake so I'm glad folks be commenting and helping each other. I would've never thought anything about the handbrake. The BMW community be on it!! We look out for each other, brotha. Nice going!

@@MicDropBBQ I’m having the same issue. I changed the rear break pads. Went to reset the message and it says unsuccessful. Were you able to get the message to go away. And if so how did you do it?
@@fernandogil9024 Yes, I had to replace the brake sensor. Once I did that, the message went away. Sometimes, the sensor wiring gets mangled when removing from the brake pads, as it's very brittle. I now have replacement wires in the garage for the next time I do it, in case it happens again.
@fernandogil9024 I did another video of it. Hahahaha! I think it's in the playlist. Not sure because it was a while back. I'll have to link the two videos if I posted it on the BMW playlist.

@@slimyslots4981 BAM!!!! All good brotha! I recorded it when I was trying to get mine off and never posted the video til you advised me to. Man it doesn’t even give me the option to reset brake pads. It gives me vehicle check, oil, and brake fluid. But no option for brake pad reset. Any help?
@@boom_roastedd That sucks! If you go at the pace of the video, it should work. I was doing it in real time. Were you getting the "RESET UNSUCCESSFUL" message? Or was it just not allowing you to even get to the reset part?
When you reset, does it say unsuccessful? Or does it just not try to reset? Maybe that sensor isn't plugged in, if it keep says unsuccessful. Mine had a bad wire, so the moment I replaced it, it reset just fine. It kept saying unsuccessful at first!
What is weird about is that my friend ran the OBD software thing to clear out the error. That did not solve the issue as well. We then replaced the sensor with the old one and “jumped” by splicing the wires and welding them together. Nothing happened. So I just ignored the warning. Next day I rode around 100 miles for a day trip. When parked the car I tried again to reset it. That time it finally reset it. Maybe the car needed to run some miles for sensors reading to “re-adjust” within the car’s computer.
I don't use the parking brake because I park on flat pavement. But I did pin a comment a month ago on this video (from Carlos) saying that he uses his handbrake and many comments pn this video already have said to release the parking brake, for those that use it.
Yup. Super easy. It's plug n play, literally. I didn't replace it that day, but I replaced it like a week later when the part came in. The light went off when I replaced it!
Reset impossible? That's new. Should say UNSUCCESSFUL. If it says that, then it could be brake sensors needing to be replaced as well. Those thin wires could separate when removing them from the pad.
Thank you so much for responding. I probably switched something accidently because its reading reset impossible for reseting any function listed from oil on down
You just gotta do it in steps and give yourself a second or two longer, between steps. Don't rush it. It will give you time. When I first tried, it didn't work. I was going thru the steps too fast.
Just putting the car in neutral will remove the pad mileage and reset it? Or are you saying do the process while the car is in neutral? I did it in park and it worked fine. I also don't use my parking brake (I park in my driveway or my yard. Both have no incline).
Did you get to the part where it tried to reset? Did it say UNSUCCESSFUL? If so, then it's a sensor that probably has to be replaced. I did my brakes and I knew the pads were new. Change the rear sensor and BAM!! The SUCCESSFUL light popped up!

You may have to replace a sensor. I did and it went to SUCCESSFUL. Sometimes those thin wires on the sensor come apart as they're hanging by a thread anyways. Replace that and see if it makes a difference. My rear sensor was bad.
I made all the procedures and still got the message that cant reset (all doors closed, handbrake down)
Do you guys have any idea why?
