  • #MapleNectar #CDLUSA #MasterE Nate, Benny, and Chuck make the trek to Vermont for Openhouses during Maple Weekend in St. Albans. There will be another episode from our trip visiting other manufacturer openhouses and fellowship with farmers and several subscribers!
Jerad Sutton takes the time to walk through the CDL Openhouse and explain Maple equipment to Chuck. The "Honorary Fred," as Benny calls him! The folks at CDL invited us to make some content and spent several hours with us explaining their technology.

Best thing about cdl they carry extra vacuum pumps and ro parts and lend you them for free. I deal with cdl in Castile ny. Gordy is great to deal with.

Do you ever see used ones for sale at garage sales? What do they cost for a used one in CAD?

My wife watches what’s for sale in maple equipment in Quebec and eastern Ontario. She doesn’t remember ever seeing a used canner . Most people quit other things in life but not maple . Funny thing is canning is really a Quebec thing. I’m very close to Ontario and a lot retail syrup goes into plastic. Syrup in glass doesn’t sell people here want cheap as possible and not be paying for fancy glass. Really enjoy your visits to all these places. Last time I went to the open house weekend was in 2018.

@johndeerejimmy4019 when can I come visit you? You've been watching the channel for years. You have inspired me to keep going. I feel appreciated. When can I tell your story?

@BissellMapleFarm Can't wait to see you come visit some producers in Ontario. Wheelers Maple Museum and Pancake house in Lanark County is a must see stop. Also Pefferlaw Creek Farms, as well as a Hubbert's maple Products; one of the first in Ontario to use steam and have been making syrup on the family farm for 159 years.

Years ago my family used to purchase maple syrup from the Lapierre maple farm in Canada. It was all in cans. There was a cover on the market that we would use to snap over the cans to not necessarily seal the can but to keep anything out of the cans.

I like the can idea, but once you open it there’s no way to reseal that can for future use.
