  • Baldor 410B Buffer Unboxing By Bruce Cheaney - Made in USA by Baldor - Reliance. I purchased my first Baldor 410b in 1980 and have used it for forty plus years and it just played out and I decided to purchase a new one. After looking online I was surprised at how much they have gone up in price so I commenced to shop around and found several listed on eBay by a seller that actually has a brick and mortar store and sells equipment and supplies to the auto body industry. The name of the company is TP Tools and the website is www.tptools.com I am very pleased with my purchase and price for the Baldor 410b. Enjoy the Baldor 410B Buffer Unboxing! TP Tip Tool and Equipment.

I have one of these, it's probably one of the scarier tools that I own. Definitely a tool to be treated with respect!

Good looking buffer! Listened to the lost trade pod cast yesterday and enjoyed the homemade airplane story.

Mr. Cheaney, you continue to be a wealth of information as well as very inspiring. Do you ever use a buffer to strop your knives & assorted leather tools. Have a great day.

I have used a smaller buffer to polish knife blades but very seldom on the big buffer because it is so dangerous. A hard wheel on a Baldor number 114 works good for a fast edge. I prefer to sharpen my knives on wet stone's though. Thank You!

Do you have a video on how to sharpen a round knife? I nicked my ruler and have visible damage on the blade now. I'm not sure the right course of action. Stropping isn't enough I already know this.

Most bench grinders work at 3200 to 3800 rpm. This is much too fast for most buffing. You need a wheel rpm of 1750-1800 for use with 8" and 10" wheels. When trying to charge a large wheel spinning at 3200+ rpm, the polish ends up slinging everywhere but where you want it. Straight out of Bownells bluing pamphlet. The 1800 rpm Baldor buffer is about a thousand bucks more but well worth it if your serious about buffing. Not nocking you Mr. Cheaney since I don't know what your using it for but most folks don't have a clue when it comes to buffing.

I really like the 410B for what I do in bit and spur making plus buckle and knife making. The 1800 Baldor is a little slow for me although I may get one in the future. Thank You I do appreciate your comment.

Charging a wheel at 3450 rpm you just do a quick swipe across the wheel. Everything moves very fast. Polish, swipe, polish, swipe. It's a very efficient method of polishing once you learn how to do it properly. Every place I worked with a dedicated polishing room was running around 3450ish rpm.
