5:15 Google "acetone for smoothing out 3D prints"... Thank you so much for sharing. I'm SolidWorks certified as well. My quest 2 arrives next week. This looks amazing!
I designed figurines in Blender with the intention for 3D printing before. I'm not good at sculpting so everything is done using subd. (Well, I did use sculpting on low poly model to help shaping the model a bit, though.) And I usually aren't bothered painting or sanding them at all, instead I just have every detail in 3D so that they are done right after printing. Did use alcohol marker before, though, the colour is a bit faint but the result is, well, passable. I'm definitely looking into using VR for doing future 3D print figurines, though, since I have proper VR now, and this video is actually the first video that does proper subd model for 3D print that I've come across, and I guess I've fully understand the workflow here now. I do hope that GS would have some actual sculpting tool soon, though, as vertex count could get high quick, but when think of it, with proper 3D control those might not be necessary at all.
@@Sander.3D well... I don't have any Oculus devices, and I have no Facebook account (I come from mainland China where it's both blocked and obsolete and I don't like platforms that strictly require my personal information to go public anyway). I'm out of luck there until Adobe make the app no longer an Oculus exclusive. For the time being I've purchased Kodon but haven't tried that yet.
@@FlameRat_YehLon Hi. I agree, although I like what Facebook is doing for VR hardware, I really dislike what they're doing business and account-wise. They're creating a weird, data gathering monopoly within the VR market. Didn't know Medium was an Oculus Exclusive, that sucks :/ Kodon might be interesting!
@@Sander.3D at least there are still hopes I guess... I think Medium is being put under the Substance brand so hopefully there will be perpetual version of it in Steam. Absolutely no word has been spoken though, and with GS focusing more on industrial design, the only (more possible) hope might be Kodon, which is said to not be production ready yet.
This was amazingly inspirational, thank you! Also, you raised an interesting question.. Where would most 3D Modellers be if they had started in today's VR world of endless creativity? What a time to be alive!
Say in order to 3D print you had to start of with solid cubes or other primitives and edit those, rather than sketch out an object and close it in? Thanks Laurie
Techups -> Made with VR technology + Cups (looks like a cup, soda container)? Sort of reminds me of Master Shake from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Lots of personality in their designs! Maybe you can start your own Funko Pop figurine collection? Reach out to them and see if they're interested.
You are painting with molotov and are calling them posca. That's not the same, at all. They are complete different brands, even though they may be similar, but they are really not.
I've done similar modeling in Blender, which is much easier and more powerful than Gravity Sketch because Blender actually has organic sculpting tools that go way beyond anything GS can do, and the points are easier to manipulate. I would never choose Solidworks or any other CAD program for this kind of work. The only thing VR does is make it stereoscopic, but that's mostly just a gimmick and Blender supports VR through plugins now anyway.
This is dope! ❤🔥

Hi, thank you. I'm actually going to try out IPA smoothing of the new Prusa filament next week. ;)
Those little figures are so adorable!
Very cute! I loved
This video deserves more views and likes, very nice. Really love the toys 👏👍💯 Subscribed
Hi, thank you Ginny!
So smooth!!!!!!
Please make more boss I really wanna learn more you are very informative
Thank you so much 😊🙏 I've been busy but I might pick up the ball again soon 😋
A fellow fan of Ehrling. I'm hype.
Nice video! You've inspired me to buy:
- 3D Printer
- Paint markers
- an ability to draw/model/or paint
Haha awesome man!
Incredible job👏👏👏
Really cool!
you did an awesome job designing those
Super cool designer toys! Sweet page. You ever collect KAWS sculptures?
I would but I can't afford them (yet!)

Hi, you should definitely check out Adobe Medium, a scultping tool in VR.

Whoah this was so cool! You really have a talent for this!
They look amazing! Love that you showed the whole 3d print/sanding/paint process too.
Thank you so much!
amazing job ❤
great video nice way of modelling in gs
so cool. i'm learning gravity sketch. it is super cool app:)
Try Montana paint markers or belton if u wanna try a super good paint pen :)
nice works bro
Very cool project!
holy shit, nice work!
Sweet!!
Looks like a fun project...Great work!!
Nice video! really enjoyed watching the whole process develop!

Nice, I love the end result! The fact that you made three of them makes them a lot more interesting as a set. Pink one is my favorite
Supergaaf! heb nu ook zin om designer toys te ontwerpen. Welk schuurpapier en welke primer heb je gebruikt? (I assumed you're Dutch by the way)
So sick man! Well done!
Can gravity sketch output stl files? I’d love to see a more in depth look at all the steps in the process
No but you can export out of Gravity Sketch as OBJ and convert it to STL with Blender
It exports OBJ. Most slicer accepts OBJ so you should be fine, and for those that doesn't, it's not hard to convert it.

a slot machine boy would be easy with making the antenna the lever, for the three slots put two bells for eyes and a smile that the teeth say

I love your concept! Might sketch it out :P
@@Sander.3D how much would you charge my friend?
@@tsmith5133 Dm me on instagram ;)
These are great! did you have trouble slicing the file from GS to go into the printer?
It's really easy actually. Just export as OBJ and yeet it into Prusaslicer.
@@Sander.3D nice, I had issues with my design not being manifold but it was my first design so it was alright considering
What material did you use to print?
PLA ☺️
time to dust off my 3d printer!
What should I call these guys?
Call them Sabota...black one the one i like the best. Great job
Cuphead.

How did you export the 3D model to computer?
Just export it into an OBJ file through landingpad!

Anyone that says Blender is easier than VR modeling hasn't tried VR modeling
the eyes you use are definitely stealing the style of famous artists . not a good look
