@@bryanmadrona3963 There's no need to answer each of the questions you ask, it can be summarized in one statement; The Covid-19 Pandemic is an unprecedented emergency that forever changed the learning environment of students and teachers alike, not only in our country but also the world. It exposes the lack of preparedness and flexibility of the nation's education system during emergency times. Slow internet connection is prevalent even before the pandemic but is only one of the many contributions that are found lacking as a result of this difficulty. Furthermore, this Pandemic greatly weakens the economy of the country such also directly reflects the financial status of the people. Being also a developing country worsens the situation as low-middle income people force to prioritize necessities such as food and water over other things. That being said, it is not the students or the teachers who are at fault for this problem. Maybe the government or the system but we must be logical, nobody expects this pandemic(at least that is). In the other sense, we can also look at this event as a blessing that exposes our weaknesses that we can rectify.

This is the reality for online classes today.
My online class started just this week, and a lot of us are struggling. In every zoom call, we never manage to get all the students in the call. Some don't have data, some have poor signal, sometimes it's the app acting out, etc. What's also confusing is that our school offers modular, and I know some of my classmates took that option, yet they require us to attend every online class. Of course, in my school, the teachers were understanding, since they know that some of their students suffer from poor internet connection or noisy neighborhoods.
Despite the online class, our yearly tuition is still 30,000 pesos, which is still the same yearly tuition as when we're actually there in school. The cheating part is true as well, though it is the student's decision whether to cheat or not.
It's quite hard to cope, yes, since this may seem really different than studying in a classroom, where your mind can truly focus since the environment is made for studying. And the lower class status of most people doesn't make it any easier, even harder.

Being at the height of pandemic and having online classes my professors were actually sympathetic. A kid of my classmate showed up on screen and the prof said it is ok and he said hello to the kid. Please don’t act like teachers get irritated because of slow internet or noisy environment. Our teachers are doing everything they can and are trying to adjust in this situation. Online class gave me something to do. It gave me a sense of normalcy in the midst of this uncertain times.

They also practice speaking infront of laptops for other students who chose online class as a medium of learning. They even spent their own money for everything lke props and bond papers. They are exhausted from doing all those things yet they were treated like this. They were blamed for something they did not hoping to happen. They even sacrifice their safety in order to go to their students' places to give out all the modules they made and to tell everyone, they will do it weekly. For me, this video illustrates Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalytic Theory particularly, the third level of conciousness which is the 'unconcious'. Normally, we do not express much of our unconcious side because it contains harsh, violent reactions, painful words and the like, hnd dahil sa plastik tayo kundi dahil alam natin(concious) na makakasakit tayo ng damdamin ng iba. In this case, it is normal that many had been hurt and degrade in this content because as I've said we don't usually voice out our 'unconcious' side.Kaya Daryl Yap ,you should be ready na makareceive ka talaga ng maraming criticism sa video na 'to.

"Ba't di na lang kayo huminto"
"Ba't di nalang kayo mag transfer kung walang module-type learning ang school nyo?"
These are the lines that most of y'all are saying to the students who are struggling with the online class, but have you really considered their situations?
As a scholar myself, I am in favor of the academic freeze. Why? Because most of us scholars are from the below middle class, and saying that we must transfer to a different school is not always an option.
As to those who insist that there are alternatives, like the modular-type learning, have you also considered that not all schools offers this? That's why most of us are forced to find a way to cope up with the online learning, rather than lose our scholarships.
P.S. If you have truly watched and analyzed the video, her rants aren't really directed to the teacher herself, but to the ones in the upper echelons of the academic institutions. Also, the word "ma'am" isn't directed to the teacher, but to Sec. Briones.
Here are some ofthe lines that proves what I stated.

I totally agree. Also choosing modular activities is not as easy as it sounds either, because while you may have the answer sheet on hand, a child may still struggle learning and catching up with the lesson itself since the teacher won't always be present/not always accessible. And Yeah, a family member may assist the child, but it's not always possible (especially for middle schoolers and above) I mean what are you gonna do if your guardian doesn't understand the lesson/ task themselves? What if they're busy? What if there aren't present?
I myself is enrolled and yeah, sure, I have access to the internet, but not everything in the internet is accurate to the lesson itself and it's inevitable for me to come across misunderstandings, etc.
I have my parents with me , willing to assist me, but guess what? they couldn't do it. Why? Because the lesson is just that complicated.

This caught my attention while a friend was watching this yesterday. I told him to send it to me since it gave me a high blood pressure while hearing it being played. The more it made me angry after seeing the main character. Yes, it is for art sake, yes she is a good actress. But it also encourages the learners today to be more self - entitled, to be more insensitive on the situation of the teacher and not to do an extra mile to learn and finish their studies. We always consider the situation of the learners, yet we forget to give protection and support to the teachers. What brought me to where I am now were the challenges I faced because of my strict teachers. They molded me to become a stronger and better person and citizen of my country. I attended class despite of the heavy rains and floods. I finished my studies without too much financial privileges like what other kids have. But some of the learners today cannot appreciate what our teachers do fot them specially this time of pandemic. If we keep on tolerating them, we will produce stubborn, lazy and uproductive graduates or citizens.

He hasn't handled a class in years because he's always been the district PESS coordinator (meaning he only handles sports events, palarong pambansa, panlalawigan etc, NOT HOMEROOM CLASSES), but he is forced to handle one this coming school year. He knows how to use a laptop, a phone, a tablet, but for basic stuff only. I took up BEEd for 2&1/2 years before shifting courses, (I am now working in the aviation industry, unfortunately losing my job to the pandemic) so my dad asks me for help whenever he needs to answer Webinar questionnaires, submit reports online & compose emails. I suddenly stopped working when I saw this video of VinCentiments about online class. Your own perspective of online class broke my heart. I just want to share my own review in this episode though baka mabash ako😅
    1. "Tanginang online class yan"
    - the student cussed a lot. Madaming viewers with all ages. . .viewers might think that it's okay to curse even in front of your teachers 😥
    2. "Nasa bahay ako kaya mag papambahay ako"
    - wearing of uniform is not a "trip-trip" lang it's how you show respect. The online platform is trying to discipline you how to behave in any situation.
    3. "Basa-basa lang tayo online class na agad?" "Ang pagbasa mula sa PowerPoint ni ma'am."
-Is asking you to read too much? Asking you to read is an assessment of your reading skill. We should not deny the fact that many are frustration readers. Sige, blame all the teachers all you want. But how can we help you if you misinterpreted our intention of letting you read?
-asking you to read is a way of letting us know that you are paying attention
    4. "Pindot ka lang ng pindot"
    - I am so sorry kung ganyan ang dating sayo na pindot lang kmi ng pindot. Pindot kami ng pindot sa isang gabing pinagpuyatan namin e-prepare for you. We are also challenged with this New Normal. But we are giving you THE BEST THAT WE CAN. Sorry if di nyo ma-appreciate.
    5. "Nakatutok kami 24 oras?"
-sorry if sometimes we posted instructions late at night. .na kahit dati paman, bago tong pandemic na to, in reality, nagwowork from home na kmi. Having sleepless nights coz we're loaded with paperworks.
    - but why questioning that? Most of them are busy with their online games, Wattpad, animes, etc. Sabi ko most ha. .Hindi ko nilalahat.
I felt sad how you portray a teacher's role.
Teacher's can be understanding if you had done a thorough research.
Again, this is just my own review..
AS A TEACHER who is currently embracing the NEW NORMAL challenges.
P.S. We are not forcing students to take online classes. We have another modality for you and that is modular. I guess, you failed to search for different modalities. And another thing, in public high school, WE LET STUDENTS CHOOSE THEIR MODALITY. WE ARE NOT FORCING THEM.

This VinCentiment in my own opinion doesn't only target the professors but as well as the institution/s and the government itself. Stating "50,000 tuition" which includes a lot of unnecessary fees, and bringing up the academic freeze were just some of the key points that highlights today's struggle, and we can't deny the fact that it is really evident. In the video there were a lot of factual points, and I think it's hypocritical to say that we don't complain or burst from stress and fatigue that this online classes bring. Most, if not some of the students are actually ranting regardless it's with their barkada, classmates, or even when the student is at their houses murmuring their different frustrations due to inconsiderate teachers (like what was being portrayed by the professor in the vid). Nonetheless, it saddens me because the delivery of those concerns and frustration are overwhelming and it teaches the youth to be more aggressive which is a big NO. Pero then again, the content shows the bitter reality that we're trying to adapt with-- as they say "This is the new normal." Sadyang na sobrahan lng ni VinCentiment this time, addressing those concerns to the wrong person (structure). Though I'm not saying na dapat sa government or to any administration isisi, but an appropriate vent out of those concerns would have been nice to somehow relieve students that hindi lng pala sila ang nakakaramdam ng pagod and stress. Yun lang naman take ko.

I don't think they had even experienced ONE session of online class. I've witnessed my brother who studies in a public school, have their trial online class. IT WAS NOT like how they portrayed it to be.
The teachers were understanding, the students were patient. The teachers gave out different types of activities that were actually fun. They had a quiz game that even my mother enjoyed.
They had a great time. My brother's mic didn't work, he wasn't scolded and the teachers moved on to call another student.
And it was made clear to them that they aren't force to attend online classes. They had their options. They had their freedom.
You are asked to pay tuition fees to pay your teachers. You rant your concerns about you miscellaneous fees to your schools, because not all schools are the same.
WE ARE ALL ADJUSTING NO ONE IS A PRO. Be patient through the process because everybody is having a hard time.
If you want to make content make sure you already had a first hand experience.
    Once again may I repeat.
    1. NOTHING IS WRONG WITH STOPING FOR THIS YEAR.
    2. STUDY IN YOUR OWN PACE
    3. N-E-V-E-R HINDER OTHERS FROM TAKING THE OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY DESPITE THE CURRENT CRISIS WE ARE IN.
We don't need an Academic Freeze. Just erase the shame in taking a break from education. Nobody is forced to finish studying at the same time as other students of the same age. Some people just have this residue of a toxic mindset that if you stop studying you are a loser. Poop that reside out before it kills you.

Hello! While I agree with your points, there are also a lot of factors that should be considered.
      1. Not all students have the capacity study online. Financially, emotionally/psychologically, environmentally, and many more. As you said, we are in a crisis that could’ve been handled better by the govt but look at us now, we’re all suffering bc of this. Many have become jobless, so for sure children’s education will suffer greatly. Enrollment rate has dropped by 30% from last year, add to that those who will drop out in the middle of the year. If that’s not concerning, idk what is.
      2. Not all teachers have the capacity for this online classes. Same reason as above, lack of financial support, psychological stress, and more. These teachers are also affected by employment problems directly or indirectly.
      3. Nothing is wrong with gap years/gap sems/ leave of absences or whatever, but it isn’t just someone’s toxic mindset. It’s a societal stigma and it affects a person’s psychological state and even motivation.
      4. There is no guarantee that online learning/modular learning will be effective for teachers and students. I’m taking my classes online and our class curricula were cut by 2 modules per subject. Why? They probably think it’s too much for online classes already. See, online learning has limits. Not everyone is a top student who can understand online discussions/paper modules.
Just as you say, nothing is wrong with stopping for a year. Personally, I’d rather stop for a year than push through with an ineffective and uncertain medium of education. Imagine having classes for a year only to go back to school with incomplete and insufficient knowledge caused by this crisis. No one’s holding back learning for people who want to learn, we just want the education system to be favorable for all. What’s wrong with an academic freeze?

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE DIRECTOR AND PRODUCERS OF VinCentiments' “ONLINE CLASS” EPISODE
Today, the role of teachers amidst the pandemic is undeniably challenging due to the additional effort they make in ensuring that quality education is continuously delivered despite the many limitations present in our educational system. With this, the efforts and struggles of teachers should never be undermined in any way.
While we recognize that it aims to voice out the concerns of students with regard to online classes, the latest episode of VinCentiments entitled “Online Class” is outright irresponsible, insensitive, and infuriating. The video narrows down learning into the traditional mode wherein it is only facilitated in the classroom. Moreover, it fails to acknowledge that remote learning is not merely limited to conducting online classes. The video also antagonizes teachers by portraying them as harsh and ignorant to the concerns of students. This is a direct insult to educators whose efforts, for the past months, are directed towards adjusting syllabi, curricula, modules, and lesson plans in order to ensure the delivery of quality and compassionate education amidst the pandemic.
Our teachers do not deserve this disrespect. We, the University of the Philippines College of Education Student Council, strongly urge the director and creators to take down the aforementioned video as soon as possible. We are also calling the attention of the DepEd Philippines to take necessary action steps in order to protect teachers from public shaming and humiliation. We believe that art is a powerful tool to raise discourse on social issues and empower artists to practice their craft. But, if the means to an end harms marginalized sectors, intentionally or unintentionally, for the benefit of advancing art, we condemn this form of expression as this places the marginalized to a situation that further tarnishes their dignity.
In these trying times, we should centralize our efforts in amplifying our demands to the government-for education, for healthcare, and for our country’s general welfare! Now more than ever, we must know who the real enemy is. Instead of putting all the blame towards our teachers, our efforts must be directed against this oppressive administration and in strengthening our fight towards quality, accessible, and relevant education!

Would you blame them on how they felt just by watching the video? Where is your humanity? Despite of all their sacrifices, adjustments, despite measly pay, they still remained true to their oath as professionals tapos gaganyan ganyanin lang? Mumuramurahin? What they did is an insult to the teaching profession. Instead of opening the eyes of the community, lalong nabulagan. Instead of uniting the community, lalong na divide. Gusto nio yon?
Academic freeze will indeed bring high unemployment rate.
Isa pa, DepEd reitereited that there is no need to buy gadgets just to push online learning, dahil hindi lang nmaan online ang option ng mga bata. Hindi ipipilit ang online kung hindi kakayanin!. There are LGUs that are supporting DepEd by providing laptops to learners and teachers. Very short-sighted at isang side lamang ang nakikita. Akala nila isa lang ang solusyon sa lahat ng bagay, whereas if we are really going to explore, maraming paraan, at may mga inilatag ang gobyerno para matulungan ang mga guro at mga estudyante.
Then, after all, wala naman talagang pilitan. If the parents choose not to enroll their children, so be it. Ienroll nila some other time. But let those who want to learn, learn! Phsssh ala eh ganyan naiisip nila eh.

BUT if this is the first time youve seen KPL series then of course you wouldve thought of how badly it is to portray the students and how badly it is to speak of the teachers. Again, the girl is simply portraying her character. What she actually says in the video (in all of her videos), the rants she'd said, were the thoughts thats been lurking inside the minds of the students who were sick of this online class BUT NEVER DARED to say it out loud. As a student, I have also thought about the things she had said such as the distractions and the unstable internet connection which could disrupt an ongoing class reporting.
