    Hello friend, great video! Greetings from Brazil! This electric bass is a copy of an instrument made in Brazil. Handmade instrument, by luthieria De Oliveira. To be more exact, it is a copy of the 6-string Rainbow KF model, a bass that is highly sought after by many bassists around the world.

      This is awesome information, that is what you have the internet for. I checked it out, it has a very strong resemblance, yes they are copying I would say. Bit surprised and somewhat disappointed, I thought they used their own. It is a very good body shape, does not fall over when not strapped on. Thank you!

    I have the same bass in purple. Also fretless. Cant stop the rattling from the big square inlays so ive ordered a blank neck, i also specified no tuner holes. I have an obsession with keeping the string break angle straight.
    My pickups dont seem to detect high and low atrings but thats okay, i plan on gutting it and putting in emg jazz pickups and a glockenclanger preamp.
    I had the same 'not working' issue but finally figured if you only half.insert the input jack it plays.

      Hi, out of interest, what is your string spacing at the bridge, string center to string center?

    • @BassCave7
      @BassCave7  7 месяцев назад

      The glockenklang has also been on my radar. Note, the EMG 45HZ also come in active. The whole thing solder free!

    • @byMRTNjournals
      @byMRTNjournals 7 месяцев назад

      @@BassCave7 I would usually measure centre to centre but the one I have is actual spacing. I can visibly see the larger space between the thickest strings.
      I plan on getting a 45dc in bridge and 45j on neck.
      I'm stuck on strings tho. I need something close to flatwound but bright and mid-heavy.

      @blackandwhiteaudits regarding strings, always think: what would Jaco do? 😂

      @@BassCave7 I don't know who that is. I'm new to bass as I've always been a guitarist. But I like Damian Coccio and Dominic Lapointe.

    What a pity the electronics didn’t work … you would think it would have been tested, with a meter or plugged in once complete.
    I watched a story about John Mayer’s Black One recently … custom shop USA guitar, where he spent a day with their master builders, building his ultimate No.1 guitar.
    When it arrived, the electronics had issues, and had to have wired soldered.
    So - happens even in first world countries on 20 grand guitars.

    • @BassCave7
      @BassCave7  7 месяцев назад

      I love John Mayer, especially the earlier stuff and the trio with Palladino and Jordan. Off topic. The electronics worry me the least, I already knew they going to be abysmal, the other basses from AliExpress were also laughable in the electronics department. But easy to replace. With wood work and dimensions you are stuck with mostly.

    • @JDAfrica
      @JDAfrica 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@BassCave7 me too! Palladino is a machine, always loved his bass work and fretless stuff.
      I agree, you would likely want to upgrade pickups and electronics no matter what bass it was .. always loved some of these smaller winders custom pickups. Got some stiff wound by BrandonWound as well as a master winder in Estonia (who wound me amazing John Mayer Big Dippers with a pull/push switch for EQ changes).

    Does it have a truss rod installed? I've seen a handful of guitars from AliExpress that come without one at all.

    • @BassCave7
      @BassCave7  7 месяцев назад

      I would have guessed so! I had to check immediately. It even has, wait for it, two in it! Like an ambitious 6 string bass would. Amazing. How well truss rods work with the neck can often only be seen further down the track after many string changes. There are things that impress me about this bass.

    • @byMRTNjournals
      @byMRTNjournals 7 месяцев назад

      It has a double truss rod. It's a great starting point. In future I'd ask for the price minus any electronic hardware and build it up from handpicked parts.
      They do a great job on the body and neck. But parts sourcing and general knowledge is on the poor side.
      Look at this example. 5 knobs on a single pickup build.

      I found out by now, this bass is a copy of a Brazilian bass.

    My brother bought a guitar off ali and it was a total piece of shit. It wouldn't stay in tune no matter what. The neck was severely warped, no fixing it. If you want a quality fretless 4, 5 and 6 string bass, check out harley benton!

    • @BassCave7
      @BassCave7  7 месяцев назад +1

      Both is true, you can end up with a crap instrument from Ali (But you can get lucky) and Harley Benton from Thomann (God I love my country men Germans) gets a lot of good feedback. My personally I had it with Ali now. :)

    kinda lame, letting a worker in a (from the postal world organisation subsidized) "third" world country, build a custom bass. paying pennies. then extort refund money, knowing that you can keep the bass because shipping it back is way to expensive. have some dignity dude!

    • @BassCave7

      Sorry to disappoint, firstly if it would not earn them something they would not do it, secondly all major guitar brands produce in Asia. I am interested in them mostly because you can't get them in the local shop. Sneak peak, I did not return it (because of this shipping madness) I fix it up instead. Stay tuned. Final thought: these factories are mostly counterfeiting, (I just learned this bass is copy from a Brazilian bass), they are playing the system too.

      It's called competition. An esp made in a CNC machine costs 1500+. I got a 6 string btb clone for 190. Go figure.
