Just for history... I lived in Abha for about 20 years and exclusively flying this route only during such a period of time , not to mention Saudia's a330s were newly introduced to such route just back in 2019 because before this date no wide bodies were allowed to land there only narrow's and of course the famous a320 not even the a321 the a320 only, when I first tracked a saudia a330 flying out of abha I was really amazed and still remember it though 20/7/2019 one of the unforgettable dates in my life and still the story is to start ... I quickly organised a flight on this route and it had a flight number of 8945 back then and when I stepped on board what I first thought about was the chance of David or Felix flying on this route or even this aircraft and with all of that report such a flight, those were series of impossibilities for me but I really wished that they report such a flight while the aircraft was still on stand 5 in the arpon prior to our departure ... and now the dreams are really coming true and the trip report is simply done ... that's amazing. As an aviation geek since birth literally and a subscriber for simply aviation for more than 6 years nows what I could just say for David and Felix is simply GO ON you are simply amazing and I wish you the best of the luck ... not to forget that this specfic region is truly fascinating and not just abha the whole country of saudi arabia is really a piece of heaven and whenever you get the opportunity to visit such an outstanding country simply go for it you will never regret it ... Sorry for writing a whole article but believe me I tried to summarise as much as I could and again thanks simply aviation.
Nice to see A330 regional, a custom A330 version for Saudia Airlines. Unfortunately, one of them destroyed at Sudan when the Battle of Khartoum happened last month.
Great flight, especially this flight is Short haul Business Class at Wide Body Aircraft. Thankfully, evn though at that time is Ramadhan, they still serve Snack Box upon request.
My last visit to Saudi some 25 years ago and one thing I recall back then, even the idea of photographing in and around any airport in SA without permission, well...😒 I guess the government has lightened up a bit since then.
I have been following your very informative channel for long...I ilke especially, when you sit in my favorite In'n'out at LAX :) ..... btw: Laban is no milk, it is the Arab version of the Turkish Ayran and it is to the Arab, what the Breze is to the Bavarian :)...
I was expecting a warzone security apparatus at the airport, because Abha is very close to the Yemeni border, one of the most sensitive hotspots on earth these days, and Saudi involvement and interests in the Yemen civil war are well known, but it was so easy and relaxed!
i didn't expect to watch a domestic flight review of saudia! i can confirm the domestic flight of saudia have a much better experience than Europe and US flag carriers airliners
Tranquil? I believe that rockets had been fired in this area from Yemen. I also believe though not sure that this area used to be part of Yemen many years ago. This is why this was the only part of Saudi Arabia where there existed a Jewish community. On the painting are Yemeni houses. Reminds me of the Business lounge in Split where all you get are snacks.
Love you videos, but you're lucky if you get pretzels on a one hour domestic business class flight in the US. I thought the box was actually very tasteful and more than enough for a short flight.
Thank you for not adding annoying music on take off or speeding up the video it was a lovely to hear the engines and get seat view of take off...agree it was a disappointing snack for business class, no everyone practices there custom and a western choice would be nice too...how much was the flight in Aus or USD ...wonder why it always looks polluted, smoggy and dirty is it sand or pollution...thanks for video
Did anyone notice the takeoff / landing sound at 5:57 ? I really do appreciate foreign aviation enthusiasts covering our country's airlines and also our domestic routes. Well covered Simply Aviation !
As someone who can't ever visit Saudi Arabia and similar nations, thank you Simply Aviation for showing us what it's like to fly domestic in these parts of the world.
The video was filmed during the day in Ramadan. The food on Saudi Airlines remains very competitive when compared to European and American companies. I don't know what level you were hoping for for the price paid.
Saudi is very wealthy country but Every crash/collapse brings with it an equivalent market chance if you are early informed and equipped, I've seen folks amass up to $1m amid crisis, and even pull it off easily in a favorable economy. Unequivocally, the bubble/collapse is getting somebody somewhere rich
After watching dozens of flight reports, I have the impression that most of airlines are serving their customers very small portions of food. They really look like portions for children !!!!! Well, at least someone is making cash by serving such a miniscule amount of food.
To be fair, though, with it being Ramadan, they could have said no food provided at this time. They were being generous to their non Muslim passengers! BTW, that would have been enough for me for a one hour flight anyway!!
@@brianmcdonald6519 Hello. Well, not only on this flight but in general, while watching a great deal of tripreports, I have been noticing the same thing, such minimal portion of food. You can easily compare the aluminium packaging (when there is a hot meal) with the passenger's hand, how small it is.
why the ground crew took the passenger to the plane by bus? It would be more interesting if passengers walk to the plane cuz the plane is very near from the gate. that very short bus to the plane already happened to me lol
I feel like it could be for the passengers safety. Airports are a very busy place with vehicles driving everywhere. Also, Saudi Arabia can get pretty hot, so, it could be a bit more comfortable for the passengers to take a bus (especially since it’s Ramadan and Muslims aren’t eating from sunrise to sunset). And there could be a possibility that passengers might wander around the ramp instead of going to the plane.
I wonder how effective that abruptly curtailed recorded supplication was. Is it even taken into consideration by the divine administration as valid coming from a recording and cut short like that? It may have been that you flew on that aircraft completely unprotected by the higher powers. I am so glad that air safety statistics was in you favor.
As a Muslim who lives in Dammam Saudi this vid. Caught my eye. Our prophet Muhammad SAWS said to eat only how much you need and not stuff your tummy. For iftar many people would simply break their fast with a single date. A snack box is quite big actually.

Using widebodies on such short flights always fascinates me. Great to see!
Ethiopian airlines uses 777, 787, 350 on 1hr30mins flights.
@Muhammed Zayed because not enough people fly there for the airline to use widebodies
It’s not like Saudi Arabia wants to show they are cool and stuff, it’s just they have alotta 💰 💰 💰
Demand for the flight matter as well. Many airlines use widebodies for short routes because of huge demand for the route.
Actually that's common in Asia.

Saudia is awesome with those business class upgrades.
You know it’s a good day when simply Aviation post a video
