Fun fact: Japan is the second biggest music market in the world... after the U.S. There are sooooo many great bands and solo artists to discover. Enjoy!!!
With that so many crazy amazing talent musician especially their female musician, in a few years ahead they will be number 1 one day. Even their all female rock/metal band are way better than any random male band in the world today.
All the members of the band are professors teaching their instruments around Japan, so cool that they are just enthusiasts in love with music and trying to preserve the art🥰
Not only professors, masters of their crafty with a bunch of awards each, traditional instruments like japanese ones they master to be the best possible.
The harp like instrument is a koto, the flute is a Shakuhachi, percussion is Taiko drums and the 3 string banjo is a Shamisen. All in addition to a standard Western drum set and electric guitar and bass
In Japan, Wagakki Band is one of the hardest bands for people to get concert tickets. Many Japanese do not know BABYMETAL or Love Bites, but everyone knows this band and they are very popular.
The goddess with the Tsugaru Shamisen is Beni Ninagawa. Wasabi is the rock drummer. Kurona plays the traditional Wadaiko drums. Asa is the bassist. The guitarist is Machiya. Daisuke Kaminaga, who is the hardest worker in the band, lol, plays the Shakuhachi. Kiyoshi Ikeburo plays the zither-like Koto. And last but not least the amazing vocalist is Yuko Suzuhana, the human embodiment of Empress Amaterasu. WGB is a true supergroup. Their catalogue is unreal and their live performances are unbelievable. This particular on is pretty tame.
This is a killer band made up of world class musicians. The shows are spectacular, seems like the Japanese are really into great music and great productions. Love em
I love ❤️ everything about this BAND. They’re Amazing to see 🇯🇵🎶💥🙌🏽. It’s great to see the Traditional elements of the Music. 🙋🏻♀️❄️🎄🐺 * Thanks for the shout out to “Supaman”….I’m Indigenous Native American from a Federally Recognized Tribe in N. California. 🙆🏻♀️
I mean i know everyone almost always talks about Beni on Samishen but MY GOD , Machiya shredded that guitar throughout the entire song. Ofc they all did crush it.
Its one thing to use (mostly) ur fingers to manipulate a small pick to shred a guitar., Its whole other level of stamina n durability when shredding a shamisen using a “pick” thats half the size of a pingpong bat. Ur not using ur fingers anymore, ur whole wrist is moving. Alot more mass is involved. Beni Ninagawa (the madlass shredding the shamisen) said it herself, she sometimes dont look forward to performing her shamisen solo in Homura coz her wrist can sore afterwards.
Recently Wagakki Band announced that they will be disbanding and working on their individual projects, but they have ten years worth of awesome tracks that you can check out. I hope to see you do more of them!
I thought everyone might like to know that Wagakki Band announced earlier in January that they will be together until Dec. 31, 2024 whereupon they will go on a long hiatus to pursue personal music projects. They did not say if they will reunite at a later date and I have no idea if they are planning any concert tours outside of Japan. So, if any of you are planning on traveling to Japan this year, this year may be your last chance ever to see them live in concert!
That shamisen only has three strings. Asa and Machiya have eleven strings between them Yet she is up there rocking right with them, doing more than just holding her own.
First time I see your video. First, I'm glad you enjoyed because half french Japanese, I really love this band for what they are doing. Second, man I have to say, you have mesmerising voice! Please sing sound of silence from disturbed!! Wish you the best for your Chanel! I loved the fact that you didn't stop every minutes the video for small comments.
I’m so happy you are discovering these amazing Japanese bands. Seeing you smile and be amazed reminded me of when I discovered them. I would love if you checked out a band called Lovebites. A great first song could be Swan Song with Chopin intro . Best always from NYC
A great, mature reaction to an incredible group! They have so much great music to offer. FYI - Wagakki Band was supposed to be the group that opened the last Tokyo Olympics, but Covid shut that down. Too bad because the world would have experienced these incredible musicians. Each one is a master of their instrument(s) and the singer is a award winning vocalist in the traditional Japanese style. Looking further into their music I would recomend "Synchronicity." ruclips.net/video/8SNV8s8FJBk/видео.html
The singing style at the beginning is heavily influenced by "Enka" that itself based on very old Japanese story telling and stage play culture and how they've mixed singing with story telling since forever. It's just amazing sound when used right.
owemji been listening to this band since i was a kid!! i feel quite giddy that some people are seeing them right now because ir's seriously amazing that they are incorporating traditional instruments to rock ones. and they've been doing it for a long time and are very popular for it in japan! you should try their senbonzakura cover
The concept of combining traditional and modern instruments isn’t new but it definitely has stepped up in the last 10-15 years. I remember a Scandinavian group Hednigarna in the 90’s the Afro-Celt Sound System (the name describes the cross cultural aspect). I love Wagakki Band as they are one of the most successful groups in combining these instruments and styles. Shout out to the person who did the mix. You can hear everything clearly and I have found that it is not easy to do with the combination of traditional and modern instruments.
You may want to check out 'Band-Maid'. They are a phenomenal Japanese metal band, made up of Maids. Very cool & interesting to hear. Lots of songs to choose from. Enjoy.
You should definitely check out their version of a famous japanese song called Senbonzakura (maybe it is their own ... i have no idea but the song is awesome)
By the way Akatsuki doesn't mean red moon because its a word of it's own not two words! Akatsuki means Dawn so I would translate 'Akatsuki no ito' as 'The thread of Dawn'!
Quick correction on the song titles: - "Homura" means "Flame" or "Blaze" - "Akatsuki no Ito" can be loosely translated was "Thread of Dawn", since the word "Akatsuki" means Dawn. "Red Moon" is a common mistranslation by non-native speakers who try to use Hiragana/Katakana instead of Kanji
Subbed, Anthony. Great reaction, Wagakki Band are excellent exponents of traditional meets modern. I checked you videos and it seems you are now entering the Japanese rabbithole. this will take you far in your quest! Eventually you will sooner or later end at Lovebites but many, many bands are redy to attack your senses. Lovebites recommandations and regular gotos are: Swan Song - ruclips.net/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/видео.html (With Miyako playing Chopin as intro, considered one of their best songs in general) Epilogue - ruclips.net/video/JIAJYBuuKGM/видео.html (The power ballad to end all power ballads) Edge Of The World - ruclips.net/video/UZjxMjBop7w/видео.html (Ditto) Break The Wall - ruclips.net/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/видео.html (Slayeresque trash with contrasting guitar soli) Glory To The World - ruclips.net/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/видео.html (An anthem of epic proportions) Dancing With The Devil - ruclips.net/video/mJGgLFTPME8/видео.html (A real blues rocker with Asami enjoying herself) Signs Of Deliverance - ruclips.net/video/ZFNrk19fKgg/видео.html (Synchronised tapping and sweeping galore) Other recommandations from the Japanese metal and rock rabbit hole which is very, very deep: Aldious - We Are: ruclips.net/video/sfkJT0rra-8/видео.html Mary's Blood - Marionette: ruclips.net/video/MLM2unV0kwU/видео.html Doll$Boxx - Shout Down: ruclips.net/video/FVfRwBeCnE0/видео.html Asterism - Dawn: ruclips.net/video/buQPvINJcA0/видео.html (Yes, that is a 7-string bass) Hagane - BlackCult: ruclips.net/video/LCheI6-MWhY/видео.html FateGear - Headless Goddess: ruclips.net/video/tLQbsoKQN-0/видео.html (Captain Mina from Destrose) Destrose - Fenixx: ruclips.net/video/pOEX5BcFQ1g/видео.html (With Lovebites drummer Haruna and founding member Miho on bass and Marina Hebbiishi now with mardelas) Mardelas - Apocalypse: ruclips.net/video/Wd8P7wTnWJs/видео.html Nigen Isu - Heartless Scat: ruclips.net/video/CbI79e5iZKs/видео.html D-Drive - The Last Revenge: ruclips.net/video/QtMumMQLWyE/видео.html (No vocals just excellent high level rock) Hanabie - We Love Sweets: ruclips.net/video/G18yyvPCiTM/видео.html (Sweet and heeeaavyyy) Band-Maid - Domination: ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html (Rock being served...) I don't know you like a rockband ?? but just reaction Lovebites from japanese if you interesting I recomend Lovebites STAND AND DELIVER (SHOOT 'EM DOWN)
akatsuki doesn't mean read moon. it means dawn. I guess if you were to ignore the kanji and then break that single word into two different words you'd get aka (red) and tsuki (moon) but for it to actually mean "red moon" it would have to be akai tsuki. and since it was mentioned in chat, saying it depends on the kanji makes absolutely no sense because the Kanji thats being used is right there in the title.
I was Japanese, and I knew the name of this band, I heard the performance for the first time on this channel. I saw it for the first time there, but I could hardly feel the "Japanese musical instrument" in the band name. I was a little disappointed that I could only hear a few Japanese musical instruments I knew.
I recently saw your reaction to Lorna Shore - To the Hellfire and was hoping to see you react to another song from them. If so, I’d recommend Cursed to Die. It’s much more melodic on the instrumental side and there aren’t quite as many vocal acrobatics in it. Also, if you pull up the lyrics while you listen it’ll make it a lot easier to understand what he’s saying
I'm so confused as to what I just saw...The look and stage presence they have chosen and developed for their band/musical identity does NOT match their esthetic visually nor the atmospheres they create for each song. Meaning they have a gloomy dar and mysterious intro and the suddenly its a Fraggle Rock caliber presentation. I don't even know if Iike it or hate it?! LOL! THAT'S how confusing they are to me...

Never knew that, so cool.
Not only professors, masters of their crafty with a bunch of awards each, traditional instruments like japanese ones they master to be the best possible.
I go to Japan and wish to have all This teacher. They are awesome even if I sing lick a socket lol

For good reason!
Their *WARMUP* song goes hard, holy shit.

This is song that introduced me to this band and I just can't get enough. Proof that music really is the universal language.

You can found a lot good Japanese music from Anime

When Beni starts shredding on her Tsugaru Shamisen, it is a whole new ballgame.

From someone who gets bored during solos in Metal songs... I feel like I could listen to this for hours. This is awsome!
After this song everybody falls in love with Beni (the girl of the shamisen).
Обожаю Wagakki Band, они потрясающие!
Check out "Synchronicity" live

Still one of my favorite band till now.
But the one that introduce me to them is Senbozakura.
Don't forget the extremely talented Japanese group XG!!!!
You should watch their other live Performance too they are insane
Even if I don't like it that much, I think it's great how traditional music is combined with modern rock.
You should definitely check out their version of a famous japanese song called Senbonzakura (maybe it is their own ... i have no idea but the song is awesome)

``akatuki'' does not refer to the red moon, but to the dawn.
Even though I don't know Japanese
welcome
akatsuki is NOT red moon on this case. 暁 akatsuki is Dawn (early morning).
recommend Ignite ,Sakura rising
🎉🎉🎉🎉
AKATSUKIーdawn
Akatsuki is an underground organization In their culture because of Naruto haha
