Never feel bad about keeping people you don't know off your property. The gates are a perfect addition to your place! People that don't know you will not respect the trees, grass & water gardens like you do. It's better to keep your kids and property safe from strangers! Your videos cover everything that needs to be seen 😊
@@neckbone1584 Oohh, I love the videos with her mom & sister too. I lost my mom 22 yrs ago & it warms my heart to see their relationship and interactions. I miss that with my mom.
I have been thinking about how wonderful it has been that you found this source of income and now have 2 million subscribers (almost, so very close)!! Your garden journey is followed by and has inspired so many new gardeners. I have also thought sometimes when we get a different view from the gator for example, and have thought OMGosh, she had to stop what she’s doing and set that up!! Thank you so much for including us in your thoughts…that’s why you have such devoted followers in my humble opinion! THANK YOU
Aaron was hilarious today! The “should we move” instead of cleaning up the puke gave me the best laugh today. You guys, your content, and your family are my absolute no stress, feel good favorite.
Good morning everyone! After this video finished, some of the older Christmas decorating videos rolled in and they were so sweet with Benjamin and Russell. Melts my heart how sweet Laura and Benjamin interact. If you're new check out the past Christmas videos. You'll see how the property and family have changed so much! Plus enjoy all ideas Laura uses. Great flash from the past!
I am still soooo envious of your memory…you can recall so much about so many things…and I have a hard time remembering one plant that I planted last week.
I totally agree with your view on people you don’t know on your property. I love that you film your area and include the drone footage, which gives us all access to your beautiful 🎄 Christmas lights 🎄
Hi Laura, I am 69 years old and my raised beds are 18 inches high. I still have to bend to reach them, however I received a folding garden bench as a gift and I can sit to do my gardening. I can turn it over and it becomes a kneeling pad with handles to help me get back up. I mostly garden sitting down.
I thought if Laura accomplishes something she wants to share AFTER puttering a quick, one camera, unedited short form on instagram/RUclips etc would be fun for us; but only if it’s fun and easy for Laura to do. No one wants this to stop Laura’s fun! We are here to share in the fun of gardening. ❤
Good morning Laura and Aaron! Build yourself some custom raised beds!!! You should treat yourself! Saving your back and adding to your joy! Just do it girl!! Hugs from N.C..❤
I’ve purchased Land and Sea at English Gardens in SE Michigan. FULL DISCLOSURE: I did an experiment in one garden section using Land and Sea, and Dairy Doo and The Cow, which seem to be more readily available in Michigan. End result? All grew well with no marked difference between the three products.
If you feel that you wish to share the lights with people in your community you should work with one of your local charities to sell tickets for one night. That way they can have volunteers direct traffic and sell tickets. It would control how many people come through. It probably would be too late this year but you could probably arrange it for next year.
We are older and getting on our knees and getting back up again can be a challenge. We made our raised beds from pallets. We cut two in half and attached them with wood screws. We have moles so we stapled hardware cloth on the bottom, then lined the boxes with landscaping fabric. Finished the exterior of them with wood slats from another pallet. Little to no bending and we can easily reach the middle from all sides. We’ve grown potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, beets, radishes, peppers, jalapeños, eggplant, onions, garlic, you name it. Hubby ran a watering system to each bed too. It was very affordable since most stores will give the pallets away. We did a combination of full soil for the root crops and compost materials; i.e., leaves, branches, egg shells, paper (Hügelkultur) in others to save on cost. We always get our soil when it’s on sale!! I add Espoma Garden Tone/Tomato Tone in with the soil. We’ve had a lot of success either way our food production.
I know it’s seems intrusive to you and it is, I guess, BUT because most people fall in love with your family and would love to be a part of it, I guess that’s why we love to see the inside of your home, how you decorate ect… I also know that there are people in this world that would take advantage, trying to say this nicely, of what you show us of your lovely home. Anything you’re willing to share makes me so happy ! I’m an old fart and especially love Christmas but family is scattered so we don’t have anyone to share the holiday season with and it’s lovely to see your holiday decorations because I don’t do many of mine anymore and it’s sad because I use to love to decorate and celebrate with family ! 🦃🍁💚🙃
Hello Laura, I don't know why but when you mentioned putting up the Nativity Crib set on your fireplace this year my eyes filled with tears, I felt so good to hear about your thoughts to do that. I have for many years a beautiful wooden hand made Nativity set made by a man before he lost his eyesight, this is one of my very precious items. Looking forward to seeing the Set that a viewer sent to you. Happy & Blessings this Thanksgiving ☮🥧🍊🦃🍗🍗
It’s another great day when I get to see Garden Answer questions and comments AND all the planting, changing and cleaning that you and your team do! I so enjoy all the things you teach. Now if my Zone 9A would not be quite so hot and the DEER 🦌 would stop eating things. Thanks for sharing your “dreams” and landscaping ❣️
I have an idea that has worked for me. I go to thrift stores and purchase pie plates and beautiful odd old plates to use for saucers for my pot plants. Works so well and really very interesting.
I had a question picked - fan-girling over here lol! Thanks for answering! Also, I like the green kneeling pads, but I feel like I would lose it in the grass. Can spot the red/pink easier from a distance
Your channel is the best. I rarely watch others anymore. Your variety is great and you have such great taste. All of your projects are beautiful and inspiring. ❤
I so agree with replacing floor in Hartley. Hard to clean and not level. Heat would be great. Love watching you every morning from Newfoundland, Canada. 5a.
Question/Suggestion-Why don’t you create or take a place in your garden that are privately yours, and not worry about us. I’m sure everyone would want you to have your own space to putter around in and not worry about us❤️
Border your garden with tall thin raised beds to create that room feel to plant the strawberries. Leave the shorter beds as is. Line the outer side of tall beds with something that wouldn't get taller than the bed. Just enough to disguise the bed or use an eye pleasing material.
There is something to say about letting strangers on your private property!! Not a chance, especially with children! You always post the beauty of your property from your drone on your channel! I think that people should be respectful as I'm sure for the most part they are, but it's that small percentage that aren't and make it uncomfortable! I love that you share your property and views of it during the changing seasons. I also enjoy the small parts of your family that you are comfortable showing us. It's always a joy to see your outings to your parents' store and garden center! To share your knowledge of the things on gardening is so helpful. Thank you, and your family! ❤😊 May you enjoy the beauty of the season and being with your family at Thanksgiving! 🍁🍂🦃
Idea 💡 make the current raised bed into a secret enclosed ‘room’ and make your kitchen garden by the kitchen door that you talked about. And/or add raised beds in the orchard.
We had a neighbor at our old house that did a fantastic light show that u had to drive through the neighborhood to see. It was so big that that the local police and a charity donation were helping! It could b done!
I think everything you are doing with your land and gardens, etc. is fab, but if anyone ever asked me what is my favorite site on your land, I will always say your raised bed garden too! Always look forward to any time you work in it, visit it, or even when you’re just going past it. Thank you for allowing me (and many, many others) those moments of joy.
On the height of a raised bed: I have a medium height like 1,5~2ft, but i have made a seating area on the side (a border) where i can sit on while working in the bed. might be a an option for you between kneeling and standing in.
I love your channel and have got so much inspiration from your videos. Please continue to film anything you feel comfortable showing in your indoor space, especially Christmas tree and mantle decorations. So many great ideas.
Building new garden beds at the height you desire shouldn't be that much of a chore! Like the shelves you have in the high tunnel or the greenhouse, you could make sure the material you use can support the weight of the growing medium without having to fill in the entire 3+ ft from the ground up. Looking forward to this next task 😊
The counduit idea was a GAME CHANGER for us. Of course, it's easier to run electric, but we haven't at this point. It will help us for the time being. Love GA, and I watch as soon as they drop on YT.
I wear nitrile gloves for EVERYTHING.🧤 I’m a germ-a-phob. When I cook, do laundry, when I sweep and mop, even to use the fly swatter! The list goes on and on. I wash my hands so much they dry out, crack and bleed. Even with our water softener. I’ll use the specific lotion that my dermatologist recommended as long as I can but then I can’t stand having anything on my hands and will go wash. 🤦♀️I’m a mess. LOL @ Aaron- “Should we just move?”
I read somewhere that the cedar bedding for pets works for keeping the mealy bugs at bay. I live north of Tampa and use the bedding material on every plant that seems to attract mealy bugs. Potted plants and in the ground plants seem to be just fine. I also use my own bug killer in a spray bottle, one part citrus dish soap, one part alcohol, five parts water. It has worked on most bad bugs. Cheap and environmentally safe.
I’ve discovered that the soil harbors mealy bug and scale eggs. Removing as much soil as possible, removing as many of the pests as possible and spraying with neem oil worked best for me eradicating scale and mealy bugs. I’ve actually gotten rid of a really bad infestation of spider mites by defoliating the infested plant and then repotting and treating with neem.
I start everyday with your videos! I love everything about them. Have you ever tried spraying your outdoor mats with a clear spraypaint? I have one at my front door which is a high traffic area. I sprayed it with clear spraypaint and it has helped keep it from breaking down so fast.
For your viewer that was asking about Land and Seed in Michigan…I have purchased it at English Garden…they have several locations in the metro Detroit area
I’m so excited to see your full light display…I’m certain it is amazing! I 100% agree with the privacy issues that such a display could bring on and understand the conflict you must be struggling with. Would it be possible to offer a one-night showing for your locals? Perhaps friends & family could help guide folks along your driveway. You could accept donations to benefit a local cause…food shelter or women’s/children’s home. I love the Garden Answer channel and have learned so much about gardening…and family…and life. Keep doing what you do!
If your neighbors build their shop and you don't care to look at it and decide to remove your raised bed garden, you should build a carriage house garage in that spot. That way you can park your pickups near your back door and you get to see your garage instead of your neighbors'.
I look forward to your posts everyday and rewatch many. So sweet to see that cute little hand returning your phone ;-) Just thinking about your wish to raise the height of your beds and wondered if replacing the picket fence with black iron tall fencing, similar to your new gates, would give you the look you liked and allow for sunlight?
The hurricane video from 4 years ago that you shared with subscribers came up on my feed too. I think it was a sneak peak and when I clicked on it, it was like nah nah you need to be a paid subscriber! I thought maybe it was because I was paying before but had to cancel for Christmas season and was trying to lure me back 😂
lol bad weather??? go shopping ..n ore shopping then more shopping ...anyone agree...??? lol can always watch the girls shopping or baking or whatever ...love anything ...
Maybe for your lights, you could set up a pay what you can night open to your community and use the proceeds to donate to something local. You can have friends and family stationed at different points to help ensure traffic is going in the right direction. Maybe the kids could even set up a hot cocoa stand at the entrance
You have a 10b daily follower right here in Florida. Love watching your channel and can still enjoy all u do. I’m going to plant amaryllis bulbs , this week like you.
Two questions. Will you be running the "other people's" garden series over the winter? Those are fun to watch too. Also, does Paul and Bethany work with you during the winter?
You can get land and sea in Michigan. I get it from a couple nurseries. One in Brighton and one in Zealand. I have asked several of my local nurseries if they would please try to carry it next spring. Most were very kind.
Chuckling to myself about your kids and the jackets and shoes! I have 7 and they all sem to go through that phase. It's a long one too! Also appreciating the That Thing You Do reference 😂😂 That's one of our favorites 🎉 carry on, I love your channel!!
Lol when you spoke of Benjamin outside in shorts and a coat, that is my son also all the way. We live in Canada, and sometimes I think, my goodness I'm going to get weird looks from people, because my son is just one of those hot kids. I will have a chill, and he will say "it's hot out" lol I can see it now, je is going to be like many Canadian men I see walking about in short in the winter. Lol
Why not put in tall raised bed garden beds where the locust tree was? That area is closer to the house, and you could turn it into a charming spot. Then you can plant big trees from Malad in the current raised bed area to block the view of the neighbors shop.
Never feel bad about keeping people you don't know off your property. The gates are a perfect addition to your place!
People that don't know you will not respect the trees, grass & water gardens like you do. It's better to keep your kids and property safe from strangers!
Your videos cover everything that needs to be seen 😊
Yeah if they are respectful enough to respect a gate and fence they just aren't safe people. They have already shown their content of character.
If the weather is horrible you just do a cooking video for us.. or anything. Pretty sure we’ll watch you do anything Laura. I know I would! 😊♥️
She has so many talents, I love her decorating videos as well.

I like the large red kneeling pad. Thanks for all the good information.
To the gardener looking for Land and Sea- I ordered mine from Walmart!!!!
I love your channel and have got so much inspiration from your videos. Please continue to film anything you feel comfortable showing in your indoor space, especially Christmas tree and mantle decorations. So many great ideas.
"Anyone who owns property, knows the feeling."

Chives and mint in its own pot ❤❤❤❤ even tiny tomatoes will do well indoors to
