I had an encounter with a police officer who approached me after receiving a call from dispatch, even though there was no crime or valid reason for the call. Instead of upholding the law and explaining to the person who made the complaint that there was no issue, the officer gently asked me to move, knowing that she was not supposed to approach me at all without a valid complaint.
It was disheartening to see a lack of adherence to law enforcement duties and a disregard for proper protocol. I believe that it is essential for authorities to uphold the law and address complaints responsibly, rather than making baseless requests.
I wanted to share this experience with you all as a reminder of the importance of accountability and the need for law enforcement officials to act in accordance with their duties.

As soon as they say "you can look up the law or ordinance" You know they don't know it. If all they have to threaten you with is a citation call their bluff. Likely as not they won't show up in court.
Why would you court? At court you submitted at the door. Only court in cuffs.

If a cop can't cite the law, then they have no business enforcing that law. How can cops enforce laws that they can't detail or understand?. Telling you to look up laws clearly means that they don't know them & that makes them unfit to do that job.
Are there any signs posted on the boardwalk that says no bagpipe playing allowed ?
I'm sure there's no signs for no pooping allowed too but we all know how that would end

Once again, we see that police today have lost all common sense, compassion, and sense of community. To them, its all about imposing their perceived authority on others.... even when they are wrong.

To me that sounds like a very odd Law? Since each persons hearing varies, so what I can hear, what you hear, and what someone else hears could vary.
I hate laws that are too subjective. If they want a noise bylaw, then the level that’s in violation should have to be measurable.
Compare it to DUI. DUI has a level, a way to measure intoxication (BAC). Otherwise each cop would just randomly decree someone as drunk. And there’d be no way to defend yourself in court.

I can't stand the Scottish pipes either but you should check out the Uillean pipes (Irish elbow pipes). Doesn't have to have that dreadful drone and has a more pure note @ tone than the Scottish Bagpipes. If you want to hear it played properly check out Nightwish's My Walden from Wembley Arena.

Some cities do have an ordinance against playing for money on city sidewalks. People have to apply for a permit which will probably be denied if the quota for street musicians is full up.
Not in Ocean City MD where he was playing. No permit needed.

Loud, unnecessary or unusual noise, or any noise that disturbs, annoys or endangers the comfort, peace or safety of others at any time is prohibited. Please respect the Noise Ordinance, especially between midnight and 7 a.m. when any noise audible at a distance of 30 feet from the noise source is a violation, punishable by law.
Why do you feel compelled to play a stupid bagpipe in public where 99% of the people on the boardwalk just want you to stop? You don't hear anyone else making obnoxious noises do you?
Clearly this is YOUR opinion of bagpipes. No one else complained. The cop said there was a noise complaint and we all know they lie.

Does not apply to the board walk which is an entertainment district. As long as I am on the board walk and not a block over into the neighborhoods I am fine.
