On a different note you could like something that becomes a trend. I preordered the triple S right when it was shown on the runway before it was a trend and now even after the trend has died I still love my pair and will keep them and wear them forever
I feel the same way about my triple S and even more about the track runner. I'm glad people are over it, now the prices on grailed are lower for the colors I don't have, and I recently bought another couple of pairs even though the hype was dead.
Think if you buy something cause you genuinely love it, that’s fair game, even if it’s a trend. My take is to stay true to your style and self, dress in the things you look good in and like, you’ll have way more fun imo.
The weird paradox that there is for fashiongoers is that people who are typically trendbased, eventually gravitate towards staples and silhouettes from designers that are timeless (Yohji, Rick Owens, Our Legacy, Acronym etc.). Their "trend days" create an informed decision typically of what they like to wear, but who designs that look season to season. Issue being, and I could be blowing this out of proportion, is that you end up sticking to the tribal nature of a specific aesthetic and have a harder time branching out after the fact. It's something that I've noticed for myself personally although I still like to dabble in many looks. Good points Greg~
I think it would actually be interesting to see Greg do a follow-up on this video withe the uses of trends. Becaus I was also thinking about the point mentioned here.
Thnx! Very much this is very enlightening Bu A-times fashion seems to kind of like find its way back after its trend so for me I tot I shld always hve pieces when they are trending and when the return I still hve them.I really do quite get your points and thank you for that.I am very guilty of majority of the 5 points on style vs trend..Bu I love this vlog and it will help and guide me moving on.🙏😍🥂
In fashion the trend is not “what everyone is wearing”. That’s classics. Trend is “what you can wear to differentiate yourself from the masses”, like the skinny jean was originally a trend, a free pass to cool, incited by Hedi Slimane’s Dior but slowly it became a classic, something that the masses wear.
Im a bit against brands borrowing pieces to influencers, it makes the product feel cheaper in the end. Ill try to identify trends early but also will sell on the piece one its overdone, but yes it can be costly.
I feel like if a trend gets super popular like dadshoes, and literally every person knows it's hot, that's the time when I know it's gonna be dead in 2 years in mainstream. Im very sory for people who bought actual fashion pieces like 3s because they like it and then it became a huge mainstream thing I eventually they lose their money.
Or just over-consume. You can definitely buy into some trends if you’re comfortable with your style and know what works for you, yh? Thanks for watching Eli. Stay blessed
@@nyx3983 sorry but that beanie is pathetic and all I see is Instagram "influencers" thirsty for likes wearing it with their terrible canned style and sense of fashion

Well said tonton Greg 👏🏾👏🏾
Wesh gros! 🖤

I’d dig a video related to beanie brands that you’re interested in. I’m having difficulty finding high quality fisherman beanies
Noah beanies are really good. They do tend to sell out though.
Dropping one this Thursday !
Thank you for the great content! Well said!

Pls could you do a video on how to find ones style?
My guy preaching
Does anyone know what Prada shoes those are in the thumbnail?
Prada loafers but forgot the actual name. They shouldn’t be hard to find though. Try Grailed
Trend is a style..... style is subjective.....

@@gregntore true. I personally like when a trendy item enhances my wardrobe.
Well that beanie is a trend and it’s time to let it go man!! You’re style is better than that!
The beanie fits his head way too well. It’s more of blindly following a trend, rather than modifying one.
