Knife Sharpening Troubleshooting

  • If you’re looking for an explanation of what is happening when you are sharpening your knives-good or bad-this is for you.
    A couple things I didn’t mention is there are techniques that require sharpening at lower or higher angles than the factory edge of a knife. For instance, you can sharpen at a lower angle to increase the cutting performance of a knife. Or you can raise the angle really high towards the end of a sharpening session to produce a micro bevel. If you’re trying to get chips out of a knife edge, using a higher angle initially is also very effective. I didn’t mention these because I didn’t want to add confusion, especially for beginner sharpeners. The purpose of this video was to teach some of the fundamentals.

    Good information OTS. Sometimes I have trouble with that. I think of buying something like the TS Prof, but those things are expensive. Thanks for showing us.🗡👊🏼

      @D. Eddlemon You’re very welcome! The TS professional looks super nice! I was kinda looking at KME for what seems to be a good sharpener for the price, but it’s still pricy lol.
