    Hey ! Thanks for that video ! If after a year I'd like to stop paying the 12$ per year (I assume I have this option), will the song will be remove from streaming services ?

      Yes. They remove it. You can leave a legacy 30$ I think, and delete your card. Then they will keep it up. I contacted customer service, if you still want the account though, you still need to pay 12$ pr year on top of that.. so it only really works when you step down and delete your card. At least thats what I was told by customer support.

    Several years ago, I recorded and produced (as well as played all the instruments and "sang" on) a cover of Gary Numan's "M.E." I never released it, because I was concerned about the copyright issues. But now that I know this... lol

    House of The Rising Sun and Amazing Grace are "traditionals", right? No modern songwriter to pay? Great video, thanks!

    Great info. Question: Regarding sampling…if you do a cover of a known song using the exact same “karaoke” like background music as the original…is that allowed? Or is that considered sampling…. I am also referring to apps that remove the vocals so that you can record your own voice using the original tracks minus the original voice...

      It would be classed as a remix I think so not allowed.

    Is there a difference if I make/play the music of the original song vs using the original instrumental?

    • @Pushing_Pixels
      @Pushing_Pixels 4 месяца назад +1

      If you use any of the original recording, that's considered a sample or remix. It's only a cover if you (or your group) perform all of the music yourselves.

      @@Pushing_Pixels but legally wise whats the difference?

    • @Pushing_Pixels
      @Pushing_Pixels 4 месяца назад +1

      @@JaviyEve It would require a different kind of licence, that is harder to get and more expensive. When you create your own performance of a song, that is different to the original, only the songwriters and possibly the publisher would need to get paid and receive credit. When you use an original recording, a lot more people are involved, such as other performers, any session musicians, the record label and also the producers. It's a much more complex situation.
