The functionality of Reset Checklist is already built into Obsidian under CTRL + L shortcut - it toggles the status of any check items selected (first click completes all if you have a mixed list). If used on a list item that isn't a check item it turns it into one. Not sure if the plugin does anything special beyond that that maybe makes it worthwhile - using it in some automated manner, e.g. for habits could be pretty cool though. I'm definitely liking the Writing Goals and Share Note, though. Thanks for the suggestions 😉
I'm watching 2 months after the publishing of the video... and there are already 200 more Community Plugins. This community is taking off. 3 years from now there will be 5000 community plugins, and Obsidian could be the most universally accepted document management tool.
I just checked the newest plugins because of this video just to see what's there. I found the plugin I've been waiting on for ages, Lazy Plugin Loader so you can have a quick load of obsidian.
I'm so excited about this. Beautitab is excellent! I use Momentum in my browser, and really love that my Obsidian can reflect that same vibe. Love it! Never would've come across it without this video😍
I feel like the tab navigator is a bit redundant. You can achieve the same effect by clicking the down arrow on the right end of the tab bar. There is a list of all open tabs and you can click on the one you want to jump to.
It’s always a possibility, but I encountered this a lot kore while Obsidian was still in beta. Core changes seem to happen a lot less frequently now that it’s officially released. Good rule of thumb IMHO though is to not build workflows that would be totally broken if a single plugin went away.
2:51 Media Notes: The JS bookmarklet no longer appears to work. When clicked, nothing happens. It's unfortunate because from what I've seen, it's the best embedded video + timestamping option plugin.
i love beautitab, adds so much personality! and writing goals works so well for novels also is it a flex I found some of these plugins before I found this channel?
Thanks for the Media Notes plugin, I tried using it but the you tube video isnt embedded I only get a link which opens in the browser, is there an additional step or a setting that needs to be adjusted, any help and feedback appreciated.
It should create a new note when you use the Javascript bookmarklet add the following code at the top of your note: --- media_link: (URL) --- Do you have the Properties Core Plugin enabled? Since it is metadata, that might prevent it from opening the video if you have it turned off.
Please check plugins before you recommend them. For instance Mononote seems quite useful, but is not properly maintained. Serious bug reports are still not addressed after four months, while the builder says maintaining the plugin is no priority.
Already been mentioned, but many are added by plugins with a few shortcuts. You can control what shows up though in Settings → Appearance → Ribbon Menu

Great tip! My hot key was not set up though for anyone else trying this.
I really appreciate your channel. I stumbled across it a few weeks ago and haven't been disappointed. Continue the great work.
Thank you! Appreciate the comment, glad you've found my videos helpful 🙂
the reset checklist is a game changer!! the toolbar was also great!
Glad it was helpful 😊 Checklist Reset is great
Not really. There's an inbuilt shortcut for toggling the check status on any item(s) selected, CTRL + L. In editing mode of course.
Thx Mike! You were right, I wasn't aware of most of these. I'm now installing 8 of the 10 recommendations.

Agreed, Obsidian is going to be around for awhile 😊
Probably the most useful plugin video I’ve watched. Thanks so much. Some great finds in there!
Appreciate that 😊 Glad it was helpful!

That’s a good one, I may have to add that 😊
Thanks for the video! What wall calendar do you have behind you?

Very good list of plugins. Maybe include modal form in the next one 😊
I'll check it out!
Added the Mononote plugin, thanks for covering these plugins!
Thanks for watching 🙂 Glad it was helpful!
Good list. I'll probably install about eight of these.

You are right, except that you can trigger the command with a keyboard hotkey if you prefer to use the keyboard (like I do).
What's the risk of the lesser-known plug-ins to become abandoned and obsolete due to low usage?
It’s always a possibility, but I encountered this a lot kore while Obsidian was still in beta. Core changes seem to happen a lot less frequently now that it’s officially released. Good rule of thumb IMHO though is to not build workflows that would be totally broken if a single plugin went away.
Ah ah ah ah stayin' alive, stayin' alive
Thanks Mike. I think I am up to around 40 active plugins now. 🙂
I’m at 55 😂 but I also frequently audit them to see which ones I don’t use anymore.
Have around 10 - max 12
Thanks Mike for all your examples of plugins especially for media notes.
No problem 🙂 Glad you liked it!
These are great. Thank you!!!

Did you recently update to 1.7.2 or higher? That broke quite a few plugins...

How/why do you have so many icons on the left side of your Obsidian?
thanks for the vid! i found some gems 😊
Hello Mike huge fan. Saw you in public but was too nervous to say hello
If you see me again, please don't hesitate to say hi! 🙂
whats that colorful yearly bar on top of your notes? is it a plugin ?
It's a CSS snippet that renders a different location based on the day of the year.
Thank you!
You're welcome 🙂

Thanks for the feedback. FWIW, I’m not a developer, but have encountered no bugs. The Calendar plugin is another story…
thanks 👍

How/Why do you have so many icons on the left side of your Obsidian app?
many plugins add their icons to the ribbon for quick access
you can also add custom icons with custom shortcuts with plugin like commander
Already been mentioned, but many are added by plugins with a few shortcuts. You can control what shows up though in Settings → Appearance → Ribbon Menu
