The Yeti SB160 needs no introduction- this bike absolutely rips the EDR (formerly the EWS) under Richie Rude, and I can see why! Learn more about the SB160 here: jenson.sjv.io/... (anything you purchase from that link and those below will help support me- thanks!)
The Orbea Rallon is a well known enduro bike as well- though it has a very different feel from the Yeti! Learn more about the Orbea Rallon here: jenson.sjv.io/...
Those armored, flat pedal shoes I wish I was wearing? They are here (and in my garage, as I did buy a pair after this day!): jenson.sjv.io/...

The golden nugget shirt!
I ❤️ MORR!
Hahah came here to say the same! Cross channel interaction is super rare due to my random interests and this was most unexpected.
Dude, Golden Nugget shirt - thats awesome. I love Matt's channel.
Rode all summer at Mt Washington on my Specialized Enduro. I built it with a Cascade link making it 180mm rear travel and SRAM 180 Zebs up front. Still not even close to my Demo race bike in terms of speed and confidence.
Coil shock for Rallon made big difference for me, especially to reduce the fatigue at the end of the day packed with lots of shuttles. To my surprise I didn't find any disadvantage for trail riding with coil.
Thanks for the feedback Jan!
Which coil shock do you use and have you had any issues with it? I have read about some people exploding DHX2s on Rallons
@@R1pp3dthat was a design oversight by orbea with the mullet link. The problem doesn’t exist with the 29er setup and link. Even then the problem I believe isn’t a few people - more like 1 or 2. I ran the dhx2 coil on mullet for the first year with no problem, learned about the coil snapping, then reverted to 29/29. The coil makes the rallon the best enduro I’ve ever rode and still climbs like a beast
Single crown fork at the bike park? Gotta be Whistler on a 2008 Demo 7 with a Rockshox Totem. Does that count?
Hd6 please Jeff !!
Stay tuned!
When and why did the big jumps in Bellingham close?
Blue steel closed for a couple weeks for hangtime, and cedar dust has been closed since May.
I really miss my LMNT. 1.5L of water was all I needed in a ride with it and I wont feel knackered. Compared with other electrlyte mix, I feel LMNT for real gets the job done. Too bad they wont ship in my country no more. :(
Funny, I have an orbea occam and also have a tendency to stop and check if the rear tire got loose. Once it did! The rest of the time has been the weird sensation of something that shouldnt be moving, well...moving, and I immediatly think of the rear tire getting loose again. Funny seeing a very similar situation with the rallon, which I wanted to buy in the first place but around here the trails aint that steep so the rallon wouldve been a little overkill...
I picked up the same shoe this year for a little more protection (I like the covered ankles). They did feel stiff initially but softened up after a couple days at Trestle. Now they are very comfortable.
Rockin the Yeti SB 150 by the way. Super fun and capable at the bike park.
Thanks for sharing!
10 days so far this year in whistler on a single crown 160mm fork, plus 4 days riding in sunpeaks. no regrets so far, but if I pickup a season pass again, I'm likely going to buy a dh bike.
I pretty much only ride park on single crown forks (on east coast and NE terrain). Not to mention 150mm bikes. This is one of the main reasons I love your videos and riding style. I like that mid-travel all-mountain bike range of travel that allows for more playfulness rather than just eating and devouring every bit of obstacle.
Nice Golden Nugget shirt! I wore mine yesterday! MORR is one of our favorites!
Awesome me too!
-man struggles to simply ride down trail-
Jeff passes by and pulls a sick manual down said trail
that was Mary, from northern England. She has just got to BC for vacation
why did the big jumps close in Bellingham?
Cedar Dust got re-worked back in May and has been closed ever since. Blue Steel was closed for a few weeks for prep for Hangtime, it's back open now tho.
Hey Jeff - great video! I ride the Rallon myself and love it! I just wonder if the comparison would be better if you also had the Factory 38 and the X2 on the Rallon? To me, it seems you used the M20 Rallon. An M-Team Rallon would have better wheels and suspension more similar to the Yeti you rode
Great video, but I think you should have tried the Rallon M-Team and not the M20, the specs between the SB160 and the M20 are very different, the Yeti is on the top end, the Rallon on the low end
I have to say, that's to bad that the fork and shock is not in the same level of performance for a detailed review. But I do love the review. Just think that the Orbea would benefit from better suspension. I'm riding neither of them but just a detail I see. 👍
Great, video and back to back comparisons are great to watch. Would love to see more in the future.
Thanks Big, more coming!
А почему Orbea маленький? У них геометрия один в один с Yeti в размере L. Они одинаковые. Только у нового Rallon хода 167mm.
Would have been interesting to toss in the Stumpjumper EVO Pro into this test.
That might be a little too undergunned for Whistler at the pace he can push. Especially for Fitz and Garbo zones.
Yeah I’ll drag the Stumpy evo up one day!
Stumpy evo with Cascade link, and a comparable fork to these two.
@@mbac9395 EVO Pro runs a Float 36 Factory. Probably not the bees knees like the two featured.
@@exothermal.sprocketI said “comparable fork”. A 38 or zeb fits just fine. Evo frame is the same on all models (minus sworks).
Try the fidlock water bottles, their locking system is mint
I honestly haven't seen a non fidlock water bottle in years- very common over here
A Golden Nugget shirt. I wonder how many of your followers even know what that is?
I ❤️ MORR!
Me too😊
Great video Jeff ! Recently I rode Northstar bike park near Lake Tahoe. I brought my Yeti SB130 LR and it was OK in the slower EWS trails such as Sticks and Stones.
The Live Wire high speed Jump Line was so fast and choppy my bike just wasn't working. I rented a Downhill bike the last day and it was Epic. Night and day
difference, I will never take a trail bike to a bike park again.
Someone get Jeff new elbow pads so he doesn’t have to pull em up during his runs!
Awesome riding! I think they are both great, but I agree the Rallon is more of a big trail bike (which is what I love). Also would say the grip 2 38/zeb ult plus coil/large volume air make it way smoother
Yéti sb160 or thé pivot firebird at whistler?
I would lean toward Yeti for more stability. But either one needs CushCore and DH casings..
Not a scientific point of view, but from the video it appeared you were in the air more on the Orbea.
Ah maybe- but more wheelies on the yeti? I could do a scientific analysis with the telemetry 😂
Dude, what's with the Knolly shade at the start?
No shade, I just didn't enjoy that bike as much as the more race focused bikes. The owner explained that I have to send it bigger in order to get into the Chilcotin's use case.
@@JeffKendallWeeddid you agree with his assessment? Lol
Whistler is on my bucket list. I hadn't visit the bike park yet even though Im only a few hours from Seattle. I do feel the same way when riding a Medium Orbea compared to other M in my stable, a tad smaller. Thanks for sharing your insights.
Nice job. I folded my foot over to my leg, and did some serious damage to foot and ankle. I ended up getting impact highs after that. Good protection, and even more ankle support than my hiking boots.
Ouch!!!
today i was with my trail bike at the bike park wasn t so bad
I don't do bike parks. Fun, yeah. Dangerous? depends. I hate lines. People lines. That's the biggest drawback, like any amusement park, it's fun . . . while it lasts, then it's hurry up and wait. Like the Army. Cushcore? Yes please. Never leave home without them.
You gotta test the new Trek Slash
Just picked up a spire and rode it at Whistler just a couple months ago! It absolutely ate up the bike park and I had a blast! I wonder how these two bikes would compare to an even more slack/freeridey sled like the spire at Whistler.
I’ll bring the Spire up ASAP
Awesome riding! Really looking forward to a HD6 review! Would have been perfect for whistler?
Yeah, maybe, I’ll take it up soon…
I have the Five Ten Impact MTB shoes. They're awesome. Saved my toes numerous times.
Right on Brendan, I’m excited to rock the ones that arrived the other day.
I've had mine for about 3 weeks and they've saved breaking my toes a half dozen times already.
Great comparison! How’s the foot after some rest?
I’ve ridden my SB165 at Snoqualmie bike park a few times. Both in the mullet version (160/165) and OG (full 27.5 180/165) and gotta say both setups were quite fun. Mullet felt faster but bottomed out more than I would have liked. OG configuration was more playful so I enjoyed going slower speeds but finding different lines.
Heading to Sunrise Resort here in Arizona today for the weekend. Bringing my Megatower v2. I rode there last summer with my v1. There were definitely times I wish I had a dual crown fork bike if only for its ability to save my arms/hands for the longer repeated descents.
Jeff when are you going to test IBIS HD6? It would be really good to get a feedback of yours after experience with Orbea Rallon and Yeti SB 160.
As a „grande finale“ for the most common big MTB bikes would SC Megatower and SC Nomad still need attention of yours
Hey I'm still rocking a HD3 and absolutely love it at Winter Park. That said I only bit the blue and single black trails that are pretty tame.
I think you need to remind viewers that whichever of these bikes they just dropped $6 or $7 grand on is definitely the far superior bike.
Yeti is 10000% better
He doesn't wanna disappoint the brands but the EWS results speak a lot this season - aka Sb160
@@DavidFoundCo Enduro is 99% the rider, Ritchie is just having a very strong year but things are tight because there's been a different winner every round. Barona had a strong start, but then the reality that Courdurier and Charre are on an entirely different level set in.
😂
Jeff!
I'm loving your channel and thinking about getting a yeti sb140 as my one and only do it all bike. How do you think it'd cope at places like whistler/sun peaks?
Im torn between getting a fun playful bike like the sb140 or getting a more capable sb160/165 so all bases are covered.
Hey JM, thanks for the note! I am NOT a fan of a Ripmo or SB140 at Whistler Bike Park... Even for mellower trails like A line, the trail bike just gets hammered... It's just too high speed, big hit for a trail bike and all the components. IMO, you'll have a better experience renting a true DH bike, then also bring your trail bike to ride in Whistler valley. Keep in mind, you can buy a pretty sick DH bike for $2k-$2500 on the PinkBike BuySell classifieds. There's no reason why you wouldn't be able to get a few years worth of enjoying that bike the handful of times you do go to the park. Spend more of your $$$ on the trail bike you'll ride ~daily. That's just IMO, of course.
@@JeffKendallWeed Thanks for giving me a new perspective! Definitely makes sense to buy the more fun trail bike considering I'll use it more.
Great video and awesome POV. It is interesting how specialized bikes have become even in the same category. I choose the Rallon and really like it. It pedals so well. Not only for a "big bike" but it really pedals well! When I was shopping bikes, i really liked the Pivot bikes too but didn't want Superboost since I already have good, solid wheel sets with regular boost spacing. I got the Rallon because the they built a jump park close to my house and I felt like I was beating up my trail bikes when riding those trails.
How about a ride comparison between the ibis, Oso, and yeti 160?
Perfect video! Continue in that way 👌. Same video with mega tower vs yeti sb160 with chrono and feelings feedback would be a master class
I was in Whistler in July on a SB165 (the 27.5" coil sprung little brother) and I absolutely loved it. I find DH bikes somewhat cumbersome. To each their own I guess.
The rallon can also used as a mullet (29"rear27")
That’s unfortunate
About single crown forks at bike parks - This is more dependant on the bike overal, bikes like the Torque do much better than an enduro equivalent.(although they do also make a DH forked Torque aswell)
I've ridden my YT tues and Canyon torque mullet back to back at the park, If i could chose, the Torque is a more sensible option.
I've not ridden my Tues much since buying the torque mullet as its just that good.
Great video Jeff! I take the Ripmo to Sun Peaks throughout the summer and it does fine. Fin enough for me, I don't need to be going any faster. That said, this year I've ridden it with a 170 Factory 38 and yeah, I think a 38 is needed for tha park (need to get that back to Eric soon!) 🙄😄👍🏽
Great video Jeff! Would have loved to have seen some 3rd person shots but great riding regardless! Hey when are you ever gonna ride a Santa Cruz bike?? Would really like to hear your thoughts on the Hightower VS Ripmo comparison someday. Cheers!
That’s some serious speed you’re doin Jeff, happy Christmas and new year, all the best in ‘24🤘👍
I've only ever ridden park on a single crown, my Ibis Ripmo is my park bike. However, my normal park is Trestle in Colorado, which is definitely less gnarly than whistler. I'm actually going to Whistler next week, though I'm renting a DH bike for that, so my first time in Whistler will also be my first time on a twin crown.
hey jeff grate video as always. I am starting to look into getting a new bike and i have a dilemma in wheel size and basically the TLDR is: do you find 29er rear wheels to be obstructing you movement in trials or slow/steep/ technical situations? thank you
I’ve been trying to find the source of the rattle on my Rallon with no successs it’s driving me a little mad. Did you work out what it is ?
Have you had a chance to ride a Specialized Enduro? How would these two compare to the Enduro?
There are parks in germany where I can't go with my DH bike, so it will probably happen again that I have to take the old Slash
Dear Jeff i did notice a very slight decrease in your riding speed since you committed to flat pedals but you still are an absolutely ripin !!!! rider
mind you my eyes could just not be as good as they used to be you never know 😄
I was in Leogang bikepark a week ago with a YT jeffsy and it honestly does most techy stuff well but on some bigger drops and faster wallrides I found myself bottoming my fork out a bit.
I would love to see you review the new HD6!!!!!! fan of your channel!
I have a Camelbak bottle too and the walls are strait ,without that small curvature that makes it compliant with a standard cage, don’t know why Camelbak insists on that shape
Man, you rode in trail cross shoes there?!? Those things are like paper shoes with good tread. Yikes
That kind of comparison is great! It tells a different story. Keep doing this comparisons. Thanx a lot
5:24 "More comfortable than being thirsty..." 🤣
I tried riding park for the first time this summer at Northstar in Tahoe, CA. I’m hooked, making plans for an enduro bike . Thank you for reviewing these bikes at Whistler. It gives me an idea of what to look for in a big bike.
I have a meta tr and been riding in some bikeparks with it
140 mm of rear travel is a bit harsh for most lines but my downhill bike isn't in very ridable state and until I have the money to fix that the trail Bike has to do
That water bottle incident is why I despise water bottles on bikes. But the water bottle area makes the best tool storage area for me
Love this Bike comparison Videos. Hit the nail on the Head since I´m considering either right now.
enduro bike for creekside trails and dh bike for fitz and garbo is how I do it.
Great video Jeff! Felt like you made that video for me!! Currently looking at picking up a bike in that category and both the SB160 and Rallon were on my list. Curious on how you would compare the SB160 an the Pivot Firebird? Keep making great videos!
Great comparison, Jeff! I like this type of video 😀
I was just up in Whistler riding the steep loaders on my Rallon. I agree that it's a great bike for that. I also agree that I'd rather crash on a steep and slow trail than a fast one.
Last rode bike park was in early 2000's on a 2000 Intense Tracer 100mm travel front/rear 26"er. It was either at North Star or Big Bear. 🤪
Awesome! I rode TONS of North Star BITD- on my Intense M1!
That noise on the Rallon is the chain hitting the chainstay.
Please review canyon torque mullet
He had to do that Wheelie past her. Us men can understand the need
So, how do they compare to the RM Altitude?
I like the bike comparison videos !
Jeff, rode A line and Whistler in May. First time, Awesome! Trek Fuel EX, 29, 130 f&r. Love bike parks. Would you compare Ibis HD6 & Santa Cruz Nomad for best single crown bike park rides? Also, compare Bullit vs Oso in bike park performance? Thanks, hope I can wheelie some day like you.
Thanks Bart!
I did try LMNT using your link. Thoroughly enjoyed the Mango Chili, and Lemon Habanero.
I frequently ride park on my Ripmo AF with a DVO Onyx SC D1 and a Push ElevenSix coil shock at Spider Mountain Bike Park in Texas.
Thanks Mike! I enjoy those spicy flavors on cold days… one day I’ll make it to spider! Enjoy your AF this summer!
My family and I have never ridden bike park (very experienced otherwise), and are heading to Whistler / Squamish in a couple weeks. We're going to give the park a try, even though chairlifts are for the weak. Will we be ok on our Ripmos? Or will we feel really limited. Probably sticking 80% to the blue trails. Thanks for any advice.
You'll be fine on the Ripmos for a day. I'd say it's worth it to rent a true DH bike for a day too- half the day you'll be getting used to the big rig, then the next half, you'll be flying!
Am i the only one thinking it's not just comparing the rallon vs SB160 frame but also wood class fox suspension vs fox factory? 😄 Since i also rode both (FOX Performance vs Performance Elite / Factory) i can tell that it does make a (huge) difference as well.
That’s funny, I don’t find them to be all that different. I can tell the Float X is a little light on damping, but the smaller volume feels great, so I call it a wash. X2 vs X could be a video on its own!
Cracking video jeff, just returned from morzine my first trip there on a mondraker crafty Enduro bike felt lost with my single crown. Ill keep saving!!! Fox 40's next year. Great review again👍 keep up the good work.
Felt lost with the single crown?! Hahaha yea the big front end makes quite a difference! Thanks!!!
Any thoughts of checking out Propain HQ and some of their bikes?
Propain? Aren't they in Germany? That's a long ways away...
You could have hit those big jumps if you hadn’t gotten blitzed on WhiteClaw the night before😎
😂
LETS see some collabs !!
Great video. Whistler is one of my bucket lists. I would take 1 enduro bike for every situation and the rest I work on my riding skills. The body will do the adjustment I would say.
Bodies matter more than bikes!
Awesome video Jeff! I totally agree with a full DH bike for bike parks! I made a pivot firebird into a more focused DH bike and then bought a Commencal supreme after I moved to an area with 3 lift access bike parks within an hour of me. You can’t beat a DH bike doing what it’s made for!
Yeah even a cheap DH bike is better than a top end enduro rig for constant park days!
great Golden Nugget repping, Jeff. Looks like a fun trip, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
The bike that fits the best
Videos of Jeff at the park 🫡🔥
Omg. I have a 22 Rallon and love it but it is noisy as hell. I am constantly stopping to make sure nothing is loose. Cracked me up your first ride on a line.
the slapping chain make the most noises :D even if you use clutch on shimano XT. Or you do not use enough bags/towels inside storage room ? So the things bounce inside. Any tricks / tips for internal storage solutions ?
Sick video, which pedals were you rocking on the Yeti?
Deity T Mac
you know you're at the bikepark when you rembember trail by what you broke or crash on !
right?!
Any well done comparison is great and this is one of them. Nice one Jeff!
Thanks Felix!
I enjoyed the video and new format also adds to a good mix of content. Peace and Wheelies!
Thank you! I think the concept of 1 day, 2 bikes has legs, but need to get the thumbnail/title/packaging game more dialed!
Awesome video
great stuff!
DH bike for me, everytime I take the enduro i'm hurtin
Yeah it’s crazy how much more solid DH bikes feel!
