I've ridden up this climb several times and just cannot fathom how anyone can ride up it at this speed. I can barely twiddle up it never mind push out an effort like this. Kudos what a brilliant performance.
Awesome - thank you - and what a performance - truly impressive how you held your power all the way up and even cranked it up at the end, and nearly caught your 30s man !!!!!!
Awesome video! Did you shift during the ride? This video is so cool! I'm inspired to show up and watch if the championships are held at Winnats next year. I live in rural Alaska.
The spectators didn’t give enough room to the cyclists coming down they just simply forget about the ones coming down and focus on the ones going up. I almost threw up watching this you’re really fit
Good effort! There is one thing that keeps me wondering though. Around 2.40 to 3.00 the gradient increases, you start to produce more watts but your heart rate falls rapidly. Is this what actually happened or is it equipment malfunction? It seems you were standing up at that part maybe heart rate monitor couldn't measure the data well. Could also be unsycned hr and power data. But I'm curious, if these are not the case, what is the physiological explanation?
I’m not too sure, I would normally expect my heart rate in the 180s and up to 190 by the end, could have just been bad readings after getting out of the saddle, very wet so that could have played a part, I was in and out of the saddle, struggled for traction out of the saddle and couldn’t get enough power out in the saddle
when I was U23 in early '90s there were no on-board power meters, only primitive speedmeters; nevertheless I experienced so fast climb rates in pelotons that I have never seen afterwards...

Did this ride many years ago on a 3 speed push bike, my legs are still hurting!
Great vid, kudos to you Sir.

Great effort there Kirk, love the power and heart rate readings👍
To say an incredible achievement is an understatement, for all who do these, done a few and questioned myself, great to watch, hell to do! 💪
INSANE. Brilliant work Kirk!
Appreciative crowd in dank conditions too👍
Epic effort mate, well done!
In my younger years I did this climb and it was every bit a brutal as the scenery and location is beautiful. Well done and much respect mate.
Thanks for posting. A fantastic effort and a really superb watch. Well done.
Awesome crowd. Nice effort in the not so nice conditions.

That was brilliant Kirk.
Wow uk weather is something else
I believe this event was held just outside of Las Vegas
That looked painful. Good job 👏 👍
Brutal climb

I am guessing lower rpm / more torque = lower hr. The camera wiggle looks like standing up to me, which supports the lower rpm idea

Love that kind of videos, makes me hurt just by watching, one question, what is your weight so that one can have an idea of watts/kg?
Thanks for watching, my weight is 65kg
@@Kingkongkirk1234 thanks, that's a lot of watts then ☺️
Fantastic performance!!
The video doesnt give justice on how steep 10% gradient is.
Not even close! There's sections over 15% and in real life that's steep as hell. Cameras never get that right.
Well this looks like fun. Nice job dude
Respect !!!
That was a lot of Watts!
Intense. Good ride.
Amazing!

What? In any peloton? Including World Tour races?
Epic climb well done 👏
This was a really strong ride in grim conditions. Riders coming down made it a bit challenging at times
Well Done!
massive effort
A very solid effort. I thought you picked it up a bit too much went you got to the first crowd of people but actually good power all the way
wow dude good effort!
wow, that was impressive!
Good effort. 👍
Savetherimbrakes :D
Did you win?
Hate hills though some are needed to strengthen legs but doing it as a sport ha ha ha.. FAT CHANCE
Be great if you had a speedo on that display also.
I can climb so steep things but not at insane speeds
Yikes!
