- The Persian cat possesses an incredible, long coat which adds to the beauty of this wonderful breed. However due to it's length and thickness the cat is not able to keep it in tip top condition by licking alone. That leaves them a risk of furballs, dangerous intestinal blockages and severe matting.
Baths are not just for show cats, Persians can have very greasy coats and these are difficult to maintain with combing alone. Once the coat is difficult to comb through, feels thick and you are struggling to keep the cat knot free then it is due for a bath.
A freshly bathed Persian cat is a joy to groom. The frequency that the baths need to take place will differ from cat to cat as some are more greasy and have heavier coats than others, however every 6 to 8 weeks is usually recommended.
Equipment you will require is:
Degreasing product.
Shampoo specifically designed for cats.
A wide toothed metal comb.
A slicker brush, not plastic though as these have a tendency to create static.
A large towel
Dryer.
NB: I have not received any endorsement or payment to use the products in this video. These are products I have used for many years.
