I am watching this anime today, and I cant express how strange it is that this anime has made me cry alredy like 3 times. Perhaps it is the fact that family members passing, and people finding closure from the afterlife is just a touching topic to me or maybe Im a bit too empathetic. I dunno, but I love this anime, I was not expecting to find touching moments in an anime about disturbing ghosts and the afterlife.
I remember seeing the manga version of this on social media. A lot of people had shared it and it was how I ended up coming across it. This manga scene and maybe the one with her trying to find an owner for a cat are the ones I saw floating around online and a lot of people said those are what got them to read the manga in the first place. This was way before the anime, too.
Id always imagined the ghosts line up to get eaten because once they're eaten, they'd lose their memories and individuality. It'd be the closest thing to an eternal rest for a ghost cursed to wonder the world forever.
Might actually be whats needed for them to go to the afterlife in the first place, but a lot arent ready to give up their mortal memories and attachments and thus become roaming ghosts. Once they are ready and have no more regrets they hand themselves to these other ghosts so they can pass on and reincarnate.
I loved the fact that there's a kind ghost. However that makes me ask... so what if the ghosts know she can see them? What are they gonna do to her? Sure, I guess it's stressful to have a bunch of ghouls hunting you at every step but... they're ghost, WHAT can they do a part from hunting her?
Ghosts has reasons to stay in this story, some are actively doing something while some are wandering trying to finish their business. If im one of the weaker ghost and finally found someone who could see me, im pretty sure im gonna pester them until they help me, if im the stronger ones, they dont have a choice.

Realistically speaking, imagine you're stuck in a foreign country where you don't speak their language and everything is stripped away from you, people don't understand you so they either assume you're crazy/beggar/criminal and will ignore you. No phone, no laptop or anything to contact people you know. Not even the authorities will be able to assist you because they also don't understand you. But then after a few weeks/months, you come a cross literally just 1 local person who actually speaks English and understands you. You gonna let that person go and be a logical human being "maybe I don't want to harass them" or are you going to grow desperate and beg them to help so that you can go home and see your family? Now take that, and multiply it for however long and eternal ghosts wonder around hoping someone can help them, and there's your answer.
Man imagine if Miko went to that place at 2:09 again one day, and instead of that monster thing, she just sees this Calvin Klein model-looking-ass hot guy with spiky orange hair and a gigantic cleaver yelling about some "bankai" thing.
I think the Grandma sees the spirit but aren't as clearly like Miruko-san Probably just a light shadow and can't really understand what her dead husband would say reason why she kinda pretended to make miruko stay and understand what her dead husband is telling them. And when Miruko-san typed the numbers she get what she wanted and She dialed the number on the safe.
So not all ghosts attack her if they know she can see them? Just wondering since that dude ghost said "thank you". Since she gave the old lady those numbers did he know she can perceive him? Thought they attack her if they knew that.
I wonder if they're going to animate the other scene of the line up, where there's 3 heads waiting to devour the spirits; one without teeth, one with blunt teeth, and one with sharp teeth.

A lot of people thought old peoples are always becoming stupid or insane but not , I'm reminding my own grandma playing like she called peoples with their hands(putting her fingers like a phone one on her right ear nd the other one near the mouth) a lot of peoples said it was bad to said her it wasn't real but a day I began a little bit exhausted and said her she was lucky to don't have need even a smartphone to phone and she was so very modern, she ask me if I think it was funny? I said honestly it was sometime boring, and she started crying a little bit and say yes she only played to this to make some fun on her visitors and having attention, so we need creating better things to helping olds peoples in retirement house but also in their own homes if they still living inside or if they living with on their child like in this anime, so it's often make me questioning about their own consciousness and ours, did they deciding a day to playing a fool ? And the brain beginning to lose?
Didn't really like how the anime added that dark ghostly aura to the old lady at the start. The anime's production crew has really been taking artistic liberties when presenting some of these scenes. This particular scene and how they presented and introduced the shrine deities are the ones that I don't really like.
This was sweet,wholesome,and heartwarming that she's even clever enough to help this Old Woman to regain her memories.
