I was absolutely wrong about this show. I initially thought it was just a show about ghosts frightening a highschool girl and making her life miserable but after seeing so many emotional moments, comedic moments and genuine character development, I am glad I was wrong about it. This show is one amazing series.
yeah the first chpters of the manga where just random horror gags but after she went to that mysterious shrine that's where the story takes a darker tone
Yea the author probably created and started the story with that kind if premise but realized as it grew in popularity that it wouldn't work long term so they put in genuine thought into how to make it into a compelling story, and honestly they hit it.
If there's one thing reading this manga showed me, it's just how much the mangaka subverts your expectations with their characters. The sensei's story was my favorite, actually teared up at a certain point, and the anime has done a great job of nailing the parts.
Some spoiler for you, you can read or ignore it, . . . . . . . . . . After this event Zen sensei catch the real cat killer, and then the cat killer gone missing, idk if the cat killer ran away or... Then the godmother/fortune telling old woman saw a photo of mieruko and her big boobies friend(forgot her name) in the mountain shrine. There's new character the one who send the photo to godmother, he's godmother student, his is not that strong like mieruko but he can sense strong ghost by the stone talisman that he created. Then mieruko will be hunted by the god mountain that help her bcs she used more than three chance. Tbh the god mountain shrine was didn't exist in RL, it was on another dimension, but bcs mieruko friend that has stronger aura it can break the seal and see the shrine. And, godmother and her student will protect mieruko from god mountain. Mieruko power was really strong that the god mountain want took mieruko to become her doll just like the 2 creature that protect mieruko.

His mother's spirit was actually protecting him from the spirits of his victims, that's the reason why she keeps yelling: Don't come close to him.
You know what, his mother reminds me of my friend's parent a bit. She likes writing a lot, but to them, that is an useless hobby (hard to earn money), so one day they tore all of her hand-writing books in front of her eyes and burned some of her favorite books. After that, she wrote online, publiced in private and kept secret until she studied overseas. She said to me she had many talents, but to them they were just useless, so no need for them to know.
That's actually really terrible to hear. I can't imagine my parents ripping up the things that make me happy right in front of me. Hope your friend is in a good place where they can be free to do their hobby in peace.

I really loved the direction this arc went because it flip flopped our perspective of teacher around. Ultimately, yes, he's a cat protector, but he's still definitely unhinged (why wouldn't he, from how he was abused), Miko definitely wasn't wrong about being wary of him, but for different reasons. The ending of the arc is proof of that. Tho it was left on a vague note, it doesn't escape the speculation that the teacher got the cat killer.
I should have known to don't judge a book by it's cover but man he has a deep and dark story that Miko did the right thing by sacrificing her last protection charm to end his suffering.
The twist was great I was kinda sure Zen was a bad guy but wow how happy I was to see he actually isn't (and I thought I don't judge a book by it's cover lol) I love this anime and I hope we can see more of it soon!

I wasn't. Everyone told me I was stupid because I thought it was ironic she was judging him just because he had ghost cats following him. That was still judging a book by it's cover. People were making their own assumptions about how ghosts work.

If I were to talk out with him about the ghosts that surrounds him, I would be the crazy one here. So Miko is not at fault here. I'm honestly glad that miko tried. Despite knowing she had wasted 2 chances and only had one more, she sacrificed the 3rd for Zen. I'm proud of her but Miko definitely needs help. #SaveMiko

I think it would be interesting if Miko get help from the mummy axe ghost in the train. In the train we can see that ghosts can kinda posses people, so i was thinking what if the mummy axe ghost hide in her body and then when a ghost try to attack Miko he can just immediately attack the ghost

Oh, if you like Zen, then the other Arc will be to your liking. Basically, Zen understand how to live under the control of others (In Zen case, under the control of his mother). So when there is 'a student' (For the moment, I will not say her name) that live under the control of her big sis, Zen really understand about it, and let her to choose by her own Self. It's a good thing, and make me like Zen characters more.

Zen's mother is actually the whole problem, explained about the infamous situation around the whole world, of childrens getting abused and depended from single parent, especially when it's mother. You'll be extremely lucky, if your mother is simply a normal person. And that's the best scenario. The rare one, is that your mother loves you. The reason of why alot of single mothers getting what they want with their childrens, son or daughter, it doesn't matter. As long as they know laws, and making sure their children will forever depends on her, then they will even start exploiting them with everything they want. Taking money, or lying to them. As long as it's benefits them. Every time i see her, I can't feel anything but anger.

No but tbh, I would judge. If I could see ghosts, I wouldn't be able to approach him without doubting. If I were to talk out with him about the ghosts that surrounds him, I would be the crazy one here. So Miko is not at fault here. I'm honestly glad that miko tried. Despite knowing she had wasted 2 chances and only had one more, she sacrificed the 3rd for Zen. I'm proud of her but Miko definitely needs help.

To be real, i doubt the father knew she was pregnant, given her attitude, i don't even judge him, i mean quite honestly who would EVER stick with that? Not me, only chance i am coming back is to save my child from that woman, no kid should ever grow traumatised if he can grow up in better conditions.

I think it would be interesting if Miko get help from the mummy axe ghost in the train. In the train we can see that ghosts can kinda posses people, so i was thinking what if the mummy axe ghost hide in her body and then when a ghost try to attack Miko he can just immediately attack the ghost
I remember reading the manga and how i and many readers got tricked thinking he’s a cat killer but it was his mom’s ghost. And some creep.

Oh, if you like Zen, then the other Arc will be to your liking. Basically, Zen understand how to live under the control of others (In Zen case, under the control of his mother). So when there is 'a student' (For the moment, I will not say her name) that live under the control of her big sis, Zen really understand about it, and let her to choose by her own Self. It's a good thing, and make me like Zen characters more.

@@zaiwanloaf From the ending of the anime, the Manga follow the story for Shrine Maiden & Shrine Deity Arc. I think Romm is still not showing up in the anime, right? It will be interesting to see that Arc become Animated in the 2nd Season.
Now that Arc is already finished in the Manga, and we reach the new Arc; A new 'Friend' of Miko and Hana that surrounded by a Mystery, that Miko mistaken her for a Ghost the 1st time she saw her. It's a really interesting Arc too.
About Romm, his full name is Shindou Romm... a play of a word 'Syndrome'. Maybe you will gonna like him too.

Zen's mother is actually the whole problem, explained about the infamous situation around the whole world, of childrens getting abused and depended from single parent, especially when it's mother.
You'll be extremely lucky, if your mother is simply a normal person. And that's the best scenario. The rare one, is that your mother loves you.
The reason of why alot of single mothers getting what they want with their childrens, son or daughter, it doesn't matter. As long as they know laws, and making sure their children will forever depends on her, then they will even start exploiting them with everything they want. Taking money, or lying to them. As long as it's benefits them.

FIRST OFF, /NO/ hate to the va, but i expected something more menacing, at least when her face gets like 2:45 . when i read the manga, she really was the epitome of "mad woman" and i guess i imagined her voice to be more shrill in those moments. i think her voice is growing on me tho...
