José Prates was my Salsa/ latin dance teacher here in Sydney Australia. Sadly we lost him almost 12 years ago to cancer. A remarkably humble man, a proud man of his achievements, but you had to ask him about them 1st. I was so shocked when I discovered his many talents outside of the dance hall. I didn't know him for very long, but I will always be grateful I had to opportunity to have known him at all & call him my friend.

WOW Gilles Peterson is a true Brazilian at heart.
the fact that he traded his car for vinyl was a win-win situation, it brought tears to my eyes.
in many cultures you find protest in the lyrics. just before the movie Rio debuted I introduced my little girl to The Girl from Ipanema. she loves Amy Winehouse version, she asks to listen to daddy's version too lol.
I hope he finds the vinyl, Good Luck.

...well if he can't find the original, at least Jonny Trunk has now re-released it on both CD+vinyl, via his Trunk Records label, December 2014. :-)
