Butternut squash! 😊 Thank you for breaking misconceptions about being a "certain age". Awesome recipes Debbie. You look great and happy be-lated birthday! Retaining muscle mass is the key to longevity as we all get older. I wish more women understood this in whole foods plant based community!
Butternut squash! I'm happy that I found you here. I just turned 68 myself and am always looking for whole food plant based recipes and tips to keep as healthy as possible. Looking forward to checking out more of your content!
@@ChewonVegan Thank you. Do you have a video(s) where you talk about what your workout is like at the gym? I do cardio and use the weight resistance machines for all areas of my body. A bit intimidated to use free weights...
@@bethu3981 I don't have a video on my workout. I don't feel comfortable filming at the gym. I walk everyday at least 10,000 steps and I go to the gym 3 times a week and I mostly do machines. I do have some free weights at home that I use. It's really a very simple program.
Butternut Squash! Don't know why I never thought to add a little pie spice to it before roasting. Great idea! You certainly showed how easy it is to get ample protein on a plant based diet. Thank you.
Butternut squash! Omg you look amazing! Hope to look this good when I’m your age. Also thanks for the recipe on the butternut Mac and cheese! I was trying to figure out what to do with mine 😊.
Hi Debbie , love every recipe ,definitely going to do the butternut squash /cheese AND the yogurt/chocolate mousse! Yummy to it all ! Thank You as always 🙏💐

Hello, My first visit to your channel and it's so refreshing to read all those nice and positive commentsabout you and your plant-based diet. Vegan for the animals, plant-based for our health and the environment 💚
It does show that you have a good dietician. Great work, very balanced eating. Love to see it. (some people online now have the trend to call it orthorexia, but I doubt they know what the word means in general) :D
Actually I don't have a dietician. I have been studying health and nutrition most of my adult life. A lot of trial and error. So glad you liked the video. I appreciate your comment.
Hi Debbie.. I turned 68 also and am definitely focusing on more protein and veggies and a small bit of fat. Potatoes are great but where I was able to do just potatoes and the Starch Solution years ago I find I just cannot anymore! I feel weak and am binge eating by the next day. Really love your videos and recipes. Always inspiring. Stay well ❤
It's pretty basic. I go 3 days a week. 15 minutes on the treadmill and then I do a full body work out, chest, back, arms, legs, abs on the machines. I do a few free weights for the arms sometimes. I also walk everyday at least 10,000 steps.
Was wondering if you’d mention black salt. I add a little , def adds a touch of the egg flavor. I’ve made a Mexican version which was amazing but lost the recipe -(
Butternut squash! Happiest of birthdays to you! I am a decade behind you (58) and people are always telling me I don't look my age. You most certainly don't! Our vegan diets, and healthy lifestyle choices have a lot to do with this, I'm sure!
I subscribed to your channel☺️I just got an instant pot from Super Krogers it’s a small one I’m a person by myself and I got it at a really good price $34.00 learning to eat healthy. 😊
You are so welcome! If you have no problems with wheat then I would suggest Seitan. There is also soy free tofu out there and of course beans and lentils.
Tried your breakfast meal didn’t think id like it because of the tofu but it was delicious! I did use Silken tofu and I think that’s why I was able to enjoy the tofu.
Butternut squash. All looks delish. Nice you mentioned Thorne creatine which you said good for muscles and brain. I have been taking Sunwarrior beauty greens collagen. I just completed that and was going to order. I would guess the creatine would be better for me sine I have had brain stroke. I have gained weight . I was given gabapentin-3 a day. I heard it adds weight. I added lots of weight. The cardiologist said to get off if I want, he did not give to me. I have had nervous problems. I do walk 2 miles a day and work hard in gyn 2x a week.. do you see any problem with the creatine for me? Thanks so much. Also I could not find description box.
Sounds like you have been through a lot. I don't see a problem with you taking it but I am not a doctor and with your history I would definitely consult with them before starting the creatine.
My family went vegan for the week. Somewhere between vegan and vegetarian 🥑 lol but I am coming from keto because I’m diabetic and try to keep bgl balanced so it’s kinda challenging eating vegan low carb but I’ve really enjoyed it ❤️
It can be challenging to combine vegan and low-carb, you just need to make sure you are hitting your protein goals. tofu, tempeh, seitan, beans lentils are your friends.
How do you cube the butternut squash without cooking it first? I have the chopper too but I still don’t know that would work. Do you put it in the microwave first to soften it?
I cut it half then half a again and using a very sharp knife I peel it then I just cube it up. It takes a little muscle to do it. sometimes I have my husband do it for me. But I can do it. The veggie chopper won't work.
You are too sweet! Genetics help of course. I do feel that eating this way has definitely helped. Along with exercise, quality sleep, and HRT. Thank you for watching and your nice comment.
I'm surprised that you found a need to ingest such an enormous amount of protein and adding processed powders and tons of soy to achieve that. Why not throw in a handful of nuts and some flax seeds and greens into your blender for your protein drink? So much emphasis on protein makes this feel like a vegan version of a high protein keto type of diet instead of whole food plant based. A whole food plant based diet should provide plenty of protein without jeopardizing your health. I'm commenting because I'm so confused by this.
First off thank you for your comment. I know this whole protein thing is confusing. It really is about what are your goals. I am post menopausal and I am trying to build muscle and lean out a bit so I am increasing my protein. This was really not an enormous amount of protein. You need to do what works for you. Nuts are very calorie dense so I am not really eating them at this time. Yes they are a healthy food but also not great for weight loss. I did the whole Starch Solution program for over 4 years and I was not getting enough protein. I was tired, I had no energy in the gym, stopped losing weight and was not building much muscle no matter what I did. I eat plenty of greens, veggies, beans, legumes, potatoes, rice, oats etc. It's definitely not Keto! I usually get about 40 grams of fiber a day. This was just snapshot of one day in my life. My protein varies from day to day. Some days I get 90 grams other days I may get 130 and anywhere in between I enjoy my protein powder drinks and desserts. Soy is one of the best sources of plant protein there is but has gotten a bad rap over the years. It is actually protective for your cardiovascular, skeletal and brain function. It is also protective against some cancers. So if you are not worried about lean muscle or losing weight then be sure to eat a varied diet of beans, legumes, greens, etc. and you will probable be okay. I'm not sure this cleared up any of the confusing for you but I hope you keep doing your research and find what works for you. Best of luck.
