Tip if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a manicure or chip your polish a lot: use a nude nail polish and color them at home. I bought essie nail polishes (my 3 faves: limo-scene, ballet slippers, mademoiselle) and they look so cute. Nude is such a classy color. My friends noticed and complimented the color choice. It's an easy way out... cheap, fast and if you chip your polish no one will notice from far away.

I found a good tip on saying sorry too much. Say thank you instead. Instead of saying "sorry I'm late" say "thank you for waiting for me". Instead of thinking about your weight on the world think about how it holds you up 🥰 much love to all

    1) Get rid of old stuff/cluter.
    2) Organize, organize, organize.
    3) Perm press, iron, or starch your best/favorite clothes. You'll like the way you look. I guarantee it. (ba-dum-tiss)
    3) DON'T over-accessorize. Keep it minimal.
    4) MAKE YOUR BED!
    5) Rearrange furniture (if you can)
    6) LAUGH! Keep note of things that make you smile, laugh, and feel good. If it's a video, watch it. If it's a song, put it on repeat. If it's a book, take it with you everywhere, etc.
    7) Pay your bills early (if you're able to, obviously)
    8) Do some Volunteer work. This is advice for those who are unemployed and have all the hours of the day. Do something to better the lives of someone else. Helping others feels good and it makes you feel accomplished when you know you've worked hard and your work is appreciated.
    9) Don't tell everyone you know every detail of your life. Don't word vomit your troubles and heartaches. Remember that they can't fix everything. Be mindful and respectful of everyone's hurts & needs.
    10) Be compassionate.
    11) Self ref;ect and ask yourself questoins on your own behavior, feelings, or actions that may or may not have been beneficial, overreactive, or neccesarry to whatever situation is happening around you.
    12) Be gracious with yourself. Let go of self-degradation. Learn to love yourself (not IN love with yourself- that's not cool). Don't be so hard on yourself and let loose every once in a while.

1.Everyone thinks I have my life together because my nails are always done, and 2. my SHOES ARE ALWAYS CLEAN! This is HUGE! If you have ratty shoes your whole outfit is ruined even if you have the nicest clothes on. Even if the shoes aren’t expensive - If they’re nice and clean you look the part. Same thing with lint or dog hair on your clothes, lint roll your clothes people! It makes such a huge difference

    • @kaitfogg3960
      @kaitfogg3960 5 лет назад +4

I keep thinking of more, bare with me; keep it simple with jewelry! If you’re trying to show off your earrings wear a tiny necklace. Big necklace; wear studs. Showing off a bracelet, don’t go crazy with the rings. It’s all about balance. If you’re trying too hard it will be evident to everyone that you are. So keep it simple and classy.
Last thing. Watches. I personally have an Apple Watch, but, any watch will help you get your life actually together, AND help you look the part. Half of the time before I had a watch when I was looking at my phone I was checking the time. Once the time was easily accessible to me via my watch all the time, it was easier to manage my tasks at home, and at work.

    • @yoonibaby

I totally agree on keeping shoes clean. It's really the little details that matter

  • @mrskhazelton
    @mrskhazelton 5 лет назад +48

If someone asks me to attend an event or a meeting I get the details and tell them I'll check my calendar and let them know. Unless it's a family thing then I usually know right away if I can do it. Making someone wait for your RSVP (but keep it timely) lets them know that your time is valuable and can make it look at least like you have a life. For those of us introverts that need time to prepare the energy to go out and mingle.

That said, I'm usually late-late. But it took me a lot of years (decades) to realize that aiming to be *on time* is a recipe for being late. You *have* to aim to be about 1/2 early and reverse engineer. (Which in my case might get me 15-5 minutes early if I'm lucky and is really hard for me, as a person with ADD.)
But just realizing that aiming to be there "on time" was a recipe for disaster was quite an eye opener.

    • @BreeBuonomo
      @BreeBuonomo 5 лет назад +3

Ultraviolet Morgan I totally get that! I used to have the worse time management skills and would always be showing up late to things (including work 😅) I usually aim for 10-15 minutes earlier and that way if I am running late I’m actually on time lol but it’s crazy how different things go when you are early/on time! Definitely a life changer!

It's important not only to take care of yourself but to really be aware of where you are, to reflect, and to give yourself the time you deserve. I love the idea of going on dates by yourself and have done this one. You can experience life on your own and enjoy it just as much, if not more. Cheers!

Some tricks I use to make people think I got my life together is by always being on time or show up early. Another great tip is to bring sticky notes and notecards. They are little and quick to get out and are always great to write something down for later and make you seem well organized. My last trick that seems to make alot of people think I am organized is to bring a water bottle I use the CamelBak eddy I always carry it with me just in case I get thirsty because I live in Texas and it gets hot here.

    Here are my notes:
    1. Stop letting other people decide how together you are.
-You have to build self-confidence and self-reliance.
    2. Make time for yourself.
-Treat yo self and date yourself (can do artist date below, haha).
    -You have to love yourself.
    3. Go on an artist's date (go to a museum, movies, take a walk)
    .
-My favorite place to go to the park and hike. Love the ideas.
    4. Limit consumption, increase creation.
-Give good content to your network and to the world.
    -Share your thoughts with others.
    5. Outer order is inner calm
-very true. Keep an organized workspace and home, as it will help you to relax and find what you need when you need it.
    6. Move your but
    t.
    -exercise every day.
    7. Limit alcohol consumption.
    -What's alcohol? lol. Ewww, gross.
    8. Don't replay to texts immediately.
-It can wait. Focus on what needs to be done in the now.
    9. Stop wearing leggings as pants
    .
-leggings are so comfy, but also a little trashy if taken to the extreme and out of context.
    10. Wash your face
    .
-and practice good hygiene in general. Ewww, you don't want to make yourself sick and you don't want to age fasters.
    11. Stop over- apologizing.
-Why are you so sorry for the smallest things or for being yourself? Show your self-confidence or work on building more of it up.
    12. Make your own decisions.
-You are an adult, or soon to be an adult. Rather, you have your own right to make decisions about what you want to do in life.
    13. Big Sunglasses. 😎
-You are so cool. Be even cooler and safer from UV protection.
    14. Get things done with calendar blocking
    .
-stay organized, productive, and on time!
    15. Use personalized stationary.
-so cute and handy. People will know that it is you.
    16. Acknowledge birthdays.
-Your friends and family are very important. Let them know that they are too you.

Yes!! Don’t wear leggings as pants!!!!
Also, I feel like I have my life together when my house is clean (and I stick to my weekly cleaning schedule), things are at least tidy before I go to bed (so I wake up in the morning and don’t have to look around and get ready in a mess), and having meals prepped for the week! I’ve also had a decent bedtime routine for the past few weeks, and that has helped as well!

I became a university teacher this year, and what you say is soooo true! We don't know what we're doing, we're sort of "winging" a lot of things! We sit at lunch together and a very common comment is "i don't have a fucking clue". When I realized about three months ago that "everyone is just winging it", my stress lowered (it didn't disappear, but it lowered for sure)... what makes me feel like i have my shit together is making my bed in the morning (only started doing that about a month ago), meal prepping for at least 3 days of the week, "clinging" to the one minute rule (if it can be done in less than one minute, do it right away), and dressing a way that makes me feel both cute AND comfortable (a lot of short heels and a trench coat i love).

I definitely appreciate the not responding to texts right away. I found that when I would do that people on the other end just assumed I had an unlimited amount of time at my disposal to sit and chat with them and answer the questions immediately, then they'd have the gall to get upset with me if I was doing something terrible, like teaching my kids or spending time with my family, or actually working and living my life. That was one of the first things I had to do to actually get my life together. I only respond during certain times now. Scheduling when I respond to all social media, emails, etc., has been a gamechanger for me and lets others know I'm available, but have my priorities set right.

Oh man, if leggings are an indication that I don’t have my life together, there is truly no hope for me 😂 Pants can die in a fire. The only pants I wear are a)leggings and b)leggings masquerading as real pants by having belt loops and stuff

Really *really* enjoyed this one Amy. I smiled non-stop through out it and lol'd a few times. Been a grown-ass adult for good while now and yes--that is the key. No one knows what they doing--and YES the RELIEF! No one has their life fully together. I have pockets of my life that are together or for a while are together. And plenty that is not. Work hard, play nice, be kind. Here's my best tip--when folks come to you with their problems, wanting your work, your help, your investment, do this: Just listen to them. Remind yourself you do not need to fix things for them or make it all good for them, but in that moment, really give them your full attention and (if possible) sympathy. Honestly, that is usually all they ever need. Just to be heard... Peace out.

One thing that I would say I do that makes it look like I have my life together is to not rant. Especially on social media ugh. Also maybe to limit the time that I spend on those swipey apps. In my opinion, there's a lot more things to do with your time rather than spend it away mindlessly swiping that finger up and down any feed in Facebook or Snapchat or what have you.

The first three minutes of this video made me smile. 'Just wanted to say that. I don't think I'm convincing anyone that I have my life together, to be honest, including myself. I do have a pretty strict morning and evening routine, but that's about it. I want to start challenging myself to create more and consume less. I really like that idea. I'm already taking Amy's advice about moving my body.

I will wear my leggings under sweaters, long shirts, dresses, and to work out in. Leggings for all occassions! Fight me. ;)
But for real though, time and place. Under dresses and sweaters paired with boots can make for hella cute outfits. But for events you need to get dressed up for, maaaybe not.

You can wear leggings, I also do that all the time. I gave up on skinny jeans as I live in a hilly place and got obsessed with feeling comfy and wearing soft clothes. Wearing leggings as pants is different. The way you explain it sounds similar to me, wearing it as tights like under a dress or long shirt, that is perfectly fine. 😄

Being true to yourself is the most important thing to do to be happy. In my observation, nowadays we are living in a world that feeds us what we want to see and not the true picture of what it really is. I was in a 9-5 life before and I thought that it was what will make me happy. But I felt that I need to do something else, I need to find my purpose. So then, I heard of affiliate marketing and immediately took action to learn it. Now I've been doing this for years and I love how I am helping others to earn passive income as I do.

Now if only it was socially acceptable to keep wearing them inside the store/bank/etc. ...

  • @meamela9820

The top thing I do is to do things in time, meaning NOT the last evening before the deadline. If someone asks me when I can have something done I say a date that I definently will have it done and then I make an own deadline a few days before that date. Usually I can make it until my own deadline and people get positively surprised that I made it quicker than they thought OR I miss my own deadline but am still in time for the deadline I told them. I also do it with deadlines that I cannot controll, such as project deadlines for university: if possible I hand in my work as soon as possible and not sitting up until midnight one night to get it in, in time because I have procastinated it.
Not only makes it seem like I have my life together, it also prevents stress which makes me feel like I know what I am doing. Even if I have the same amount of work to do, the risk of me being stressed out is lower if I do things in time and know that I in case of emergency I am before my schedule, so to say.

One thing I do to keep my life together is decline invitations if they're from one day to another or even worse, the same day. If I'm inviting a friend to hang out I ask with 3-5 days of anticipation. Other thing I realize makes you look like you got it together is to not complain excesivily and to not gossip, Idk.. It seems like an inmature attitude. And I always keep my nails short, makes me feel in control.

    Hm, my tips:
1 - take a course or learn a craft/science beside work and socialising makes you look like you know who you are, what interests you, and you are conscious about your time - like nothing screams "never grew up" and "kinda out of control" more than having only work and alcohol and your partner and Netflix in your life.
2 - not complaining (especially about another person), and this is a reminder to me as well. My image is under control most of the time, but the moment I start complaining about something or someone it goes downhill pretty fast. That said I rarely do it, so that's why I notice when it happens, and it happens when I'm being directly asked about it and I have to answer, or when I get close enough to someone to be able show weakness, to pour my struggles out. But that person will never look at me the same, the respect gets a bit lower. Sometimes it seems like it can't be helped, like at work noticing a situation that's bad and it needs a change and I have to tell my supervisor or team leader about it so they can make a change. In that case I really try instead of going to the supervisor with nothing but complaint I go to the supervisor with suggestion already on how to make the situation better. So not just a plain negative one way complaint, take the fact that you noticed this is wrong and you have been thinking about it and here is how you think it can be improved. I have friends I can complain to, there are maximum five of them. It sometimes can take a bit of effort, especially because I don't like and can't lie so if someone directly asks me about something I can only complain about ... well, that's tricky. If I can't go around it I try to add 50% of good in there somehow, if nothing else than "... but the weather was so nice, I love it when it's sunny" and change the subject to a weekend or something, haha. The main point is: do not complain, it's gonna cause damage to your image even when you are right and the receiver end knows too and you both are on the same page, even then! It's gonna put you into a "victim of a situation" image and that's far from the "having it all together" image. Even when the situation is actually bad, try to figure out how to control it and come out on the other end as someone who solved that, not as someone who got broken by it. Noticing a bad situation is your chance to get it under control. It's not only not gonna ruin your image it will kick you further ahead. 'Been there, done that.
