1. Track your time. See where all of your time is going. 2.Put your to do list on your schedule. Block every single thing. Every minute. 3. Scheduel EVERYTHING. "When we say yes to something means that we say no to something else."
Reposting for my notes: 1. Track your time. See where all of your time is going. 2. Put your to-do list on your schedule. Block every single thing. Every minute. 3. Schedule EVERYTHING. "When we say yes to something means that we say no to something else."
My big struggle is predicting how long things take to complete. I always end up being way too ambitious about how much I can get done in an hour. I guess I'll get better at estimating how long stuff takes with experience. ^_^
Just like with dieting, try just tracking your activities as they happen now. After a week or two, you can see how long things take and where you can improve.
Katy Adelson , I usually schedule in small chunks of flex or catch up time since I struggle with the same. I was amazed at how quickly I can accomplish household tasks, when I actually time them.
Katy Adelson Same here, but I've also realized, for me, I'm not always working "smart" in that time block. I'm the type of person who will always take 2 hours for an hour long task because I get caught up on doing it really well, or I get distracted, or too excited about a task and then spend extra time on it. I have a habit of working on the task until I feel satisfied with the result, which is not productive for everyday things. I really had to learn that "good enough" is ok and how to pace myself to stay in the time block I made. Everything I finish is not the best thing I've ever done, but that's not possible in grad school, so I've learned to do things "well enough" and in the time I scheduled. I also feel much better with an "ok" product finished in my allotted amount of time because that means I can spend quality time on the really important projects.
Man say that sh@!t, so true sometimes and a lot of times, some things take longer than you expect it to that can be very irritating especially when you didn't get to the things you wanted to do the most!! but you have to keep going and tackle it tomorrow .
“I’m acutely aware that when I say yes to something, I’m at the very same time INSTANTLY saying no to something else.” BREAKTHROUGH MOMENT!!!Thank you, Chris & Amy!
Since I have been watching all Amy's videos I have been more productive, more focused, more positive, I closed a big account last week, that I wouldn't have closed if I hadn't change my mindset. Thank you Amy. I'm still having trouble waking up early 7 days straight but at least I do it 5 out of 7 ;)
The key is in not spending time, but in investing it.Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time. Don't be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. One man gets only a week's value out of a year while another man gets a full year's value out of a week. Hi guys!! Let me just share a quick story with you guys. :) We own a cookie shop business in our college town. When we first started it, we were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. We just graduated college as well. We started the late night cookie shop out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night. We were living in our car in the parking lot of the shop at the time with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And now we have 2 storefront locations in New Jersey and Florida! We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.
Saying yes means saying no to something else. I think that just completely changed my perspective on time-management. I'm looking forward to incorporating this in my planning. Thank you!!
You are really my favorite RUclipsr, my productivity actually increased since last week when I first watched your videos. My technique in managing my time is writing everything I want to do before I go to sleep, and I use a pomodoro clock to take 5 minute break every 25 minutes of work.
Amy, thank you for always starting my Sunday off right! I think its important to remember that productivity and time management are not "one size fits all." It's important to know yourself, before designing your schedule.
Ashley Lorelle yes! 🙌🏻 So true! Just talked about time management in my video this week and I really believe you have to be honest with yourself and time block based on the windows of time you actually can focus on work not just set up times knowing you will have a ton of distractions
Thank you for this. I've never been one to schedule my time before watching your videos but started a few months ago and it has changed my life. I'm a personal finance blogger and a mum of four young children, one with special needs and having everything blocked off ensures I get everything done. I loved Chris's imput as well. I have play dough time blocked off with my youngest , video game time with my eldest son and painting and dancing time with my daughters. I have found it life changing. Thank you and keep up the great work.
This is fantastic advise. I am a young branch manager for a worldwide company, I have a wife and two kids with a puppy at home, and I am serving as a National Guard soldier. I have been struggling with time management since I have stepped into my new role and I truly believe your advice will be the key to my success. I have used calendars before but not quite to this level. Starting tonight, I will block off every little thing I do. I feel motivated and excited to start doing this. I feel like this change well ultimately bring stress relief as well. Thank you! Definitely subscribed.
Lately I have started waking up at 5am every weekday. My relationship with God is very important to me so I needed extra time to spend in devotion. Also I wanted to get my workouts to become more consistent so I can lose a little weight and, more importantly, get stronger. I'm a full time college student in my 3rd year with 2 jobs. I feel like waking up early has increased my productivity and I feel better because I'm doing the things I want to do first and then focusing on what I have to do for the rest of the day. I feel way more motivated to get things done for the rest of the day now! Your videos are awesome by the way! Very practical tips! Thank you!
I’m a mom of three, and over the last few months I’ve learned how much more I can get done when I block out my calendar. This was the only way I made sure I scheduled some me time initially. Then I started applying it to other aspects of my life and have found myself getting so much more done rather than getting sucked down a social media hole. Having kids can make it a little difficult to plan for things. You never know when they may get sent home from school due to illness, behavior problems, etc. so I generally try to schedule my most important activities and/or appts for first thing in the morning so the likelihood of them getting done is greater. I try to be done with all of my work and to-do list items by the time they get out of school so that I can then focus my attention on them. My kids are currently going through some things right now so my goal is to always prioritize them and tend to their needs first. I’m only about a month in but so far it’s been going well!
Hii good evening from here! Please I would like to ask a question. Please when you mean you block out your calendar..does that mean you lost your activities of the day and list out the time it is going to take or it should take OR you plan each activity of the whole day into time frames from when you wake up till when you’re done with work or when you sleep🥴 or something?. Thanks❤️
I, professionally, have been an event planner that, quite successfully, can plan every single minute. However, I've quite strongly resisted doing this for my personal life. But, after watching your video here, it just makes sense. I'm going to try it. I'm GOOD at planning a schedule. I'm good at keeping things and people to a schedule. This SHOULD be easy. Should. 😎
As a parent I started watching ur channel to get up earlier (still working on it, let’s be real, my alarm hasn’t woken me up since the first baby came) but I kept watching because I see parenting & household management as “my job” & it needs to be productive for my sanity & for the family to function well. No matter how busy the babies & kids make you, often you can get 15mins here or there to get something done. So wanted to let you know as a mum these tips do work! Break down big jobs into 15min jobs that you can immediately jump into before the kids need you again, if they don’t then jump back into another 15min job. More productive days lead to calmer nights that aren’t filled with housework, but with wine. 🍷
I was a huge time blocker before I had a kid. Now I have a one year old which makes time blocking things a lot harder. I am still able to plan somewhat, so I plan to get up before her, plan what I can do during nap time (this I may get 1 hour or 4 so it varies), and then what I can do when she goes to bed. When I get "baby free" blocks I try and use that time well. I am sure it'll get easier once she's in school so I'll have more consistency. I find that to do lists work for the more variable times, so my to-do lists have a hierarchy and an estimated time, and I'll fit in extra work if she ends up taking an extra long nap.
As an educator who is currently taking on a shift in time management with virtual teaching, this is very helpful. It is definitely taking more time to plan, create online learning modules, create assignments, grading, teaching, etc...I think the working at home aspect really makes one lose boundaries of time to work versus time to close the laptop and relax. The temptation to work beyond reasonable times is always there, but this also has to do with the increased amount of work that needs to be done. I’m really going to try stopping at a certain point each day as I’m finding my work melding into the evening beyond my usual schedule. A colleague of mine also recommended setting off a timer at 5:00pm when working at home. This is another way to add that element of blocking time and having something to look forward to. Thank you for sharing your advice!
Scheduling is darn near impossible with kids...but I've got some tips! 1. I know you said you hate them, but have a list of backups (tasks that you know will take 5, 10,15, 30, etc minutes) and use them wisely. It could be as easy as pinning blog post ideas, or saving a couple of articles to read later). 2. Get a dictation app for your phone (or utilize voice notes-as long as it transcribes). This is so you can "do work" while driving or if you have your hands full. Use the dictation to write notes, presentations, thoughts, edits, etc. 3. Be kind to yourself. I wake up at 5am everyday just so I can shower, dress, and get myself together for my office job (this does not include a workout...that I'm still trying to work in...somewhere), then I get the kids up...I meditate in the shower...yeah...it's not ideal...but it's the best I'm gonna get at this stage in life. Recognize that and even if you take 15 minutes to work on your passion project before you pass out after the kids are in bed...you're 15 minutes closer to your goal.
Danielle Brissing Awesome post Danielle. I am a mother of two (5 & 2) owning a business. I love your multi-tasking morning. Shower and meditation- brilliant. My mornings are so much better with even 30 mins to myself before everyone gets up and I am MUCH nicer to everyone because I put myself first. I got up early and blocked out a cleaning schedule this morning . It’s there, on the calendar. Not sure it’s realistic but I’ll try! I declutter the counters with wireless head phones and watch Amy Videos :D
Cheryl Upper mother of two here too!!! 6 and 4. I'm working on the decluttering and need to grab me a pair of wireless headphones....I listen to Amy in the car like a podcast. I'm trying to figure out time blocking for my office job...then time block my personal life. It's a work in progress...baby steps! Good luck with what you're doing and moving towards your goals!
Cheryl Upper hey! I just found another multitask session for myself....I started following Sarahbethyoga and she has a 10 minute wall bed time routine. She basically stretches her legs on a wall while laying down and it's been said their are some great benefits to that. Well it's 10 minutes...just the right amount of time for a sheet mask!
Danielle Brissing great idea! Ok a few other ones off the top of my head. You can do yoga in your bed before you even get up, in the dark. Just even 3 or 4 bed poses searchable on Pinterest. Clean the bathroom while kids are in the tub, clean the tub during one of my showers each week (realistically every two weeks). Put wiping the cupboards and some windows on my kids activity list. I have been calendar blocking for about two months. I found out I can spend 5 hours per week watching ‘This is Us’ binges after the kids go down. I deserve it right? So I think. I’m much more mindful of that time waster. I double task anytime I have a Netflix craving. Match socks or fold laundry or label file folders etc. G2G morning routine time!
I keep a list of extra things I'd like to do, but I also prioritze and erase a lot of them, because time is limited. And I may not be really interested in the long run.
I have actually said no to a lot of things lately. But a calender is a must! Between my paper calender and my Google calender it helps me get it all done.
I just want to tell you, you are AMAZING! I just watched 3 or 4 of your scheduling/time blocking video's and have started blocking my schedule. I instantly feel better and it has already made me see why I'm always running late/rushing around because I squeeze everything into the morning and I don't have enough time to get it done. So blocking out my schedule is simultaneously forcing me to rearrange how I outline my day.
Love these tips! My husband and I have become extremely intentional with scheduling time together and it has been so important to us. Love his wife Friday’s!
One of my advisors is the best time management person I have ever met. Her trick is to do certain things only at the certain time period of a day. She checks emails probably only three to four times a day; replies emails one time per day; works on teaching related stuffs only on Tuesday and Thursday; then she could have the rest of the week to do her own research.
I just have to say that I am a parent of two kids a boy and a girl. And Amy’s time management tips help me so much. I seriously think that instead of giving her negativity you should give her appreciation for her time in trying to help other people. None of us have it all figured out and honestly if all you are going to do is give her complaints then watch someone else that you do get help from. Doesn’t that make way more sense than spending your precious time leaving a bad vibes comment. Let’s face it it’s so easy to get sucked into binge watching tv or picking up our phones 87 times a day so try to plan your time and accept when life gets in the way but don’t be hating others.
I get a lot of things done by planning ahead of time. Organizing my tasks from the most priority down to the least makes my work easier. Being an affiliate marketer, I need to keep things organized for me and my team so we can do a lot of things every day. Having a calendar of a to-do list is definitely very helpful. Thanks for sharing this, Amy! :)
This is an awesome tip! I am definitely trying this out for my online marketing business. Btw, Rachel your video about Builderall and Clickfunnels is the bomb! Full of information that is very helpful. Thanks a lot!
I must have heard this a thousand times from the poeple around me, and I have tryed all sorts of ways to grgett myself the manage my time better, but it has never really clicked untill I heard you explain it the way you did. I am currently trying to build a small buisness for myself and I know how crucial it is to make the most of your time, so thank you for making this video.
Sorry this is long, but wanted to share....This deft helped and loved the idea of blocking in lit everything. I have three jobs: I teach at a college, full time Artist and waitress on the side, so my calendar (passion planner) is my bible. With everything I had going on I was sooooo overwhelmed and my mind felt clustered all the time. My old routine was that I created long to do lists and would wake up about 6/7 and stay up till 1/2 everyday. I would get up feel like crap all day but push through thinking I was getting things done, but I wasn’t. I would always say I was busy but still felt clustered and everywhere in my head. Finally I watched this video on yen CEO routine and it’s changed everything. I realized my old routine (the one I had since undergrad) wasn’t doing anything and I could no longer stay up late, because at 6pm I had no motivation anymore. So realizing all this bring so much importance to my AM and PM routine. PM I stop email social media at 7, I do dishes, tidy up the house,’take out trash, turn down lights, take an epson salt bath with candles and no lights on, journal, plan out my top three priorities (based on what’s coming up), spray pillow with this amazing oil that’s soothing and go to bed by 9. AM I get up at 4am, change to workout clothes, workout for at least 30 min, meditate for 5 minutes (thanks to an app) journal again, look at planner, drinks lots of water, make coffee, shower and be ready by 5:30 or 6. Then I start those three top priorities, check email. I have also (because of my three jobs) made each day a certain day. I realized if I didn’t have a designated studio day, I wasn’t painting and getting commissions and my own work done. So now I : Monday school, Tuesday waitress/studio, Wed school, Thursday studio/ waitress, Friday studio, Saturday waitress, Sunday waitress/school. This has all helped me so much. Also your videos add on and help me to continue to twick what I do. Thank you!
Blocking is such a powerful tool! I used to write to-do lists everyday for a year or so to be more productive, but I always feel bad for not finishing the items on it. Now that I have watched your video on how to use a calendar, I have been writing a to do list and then blocking the time out for it on my calendar. It lets me know that I have to get a certain task done by a certain time, which gives me helpful pressure to finish it off instead of dragging it on. It also shows me how much 'chill' time I have/will spent, so that I don't get discouraged by the idea that I work all day and have no 'me'-time. Thank you so much for your videos, Amy!
@@bruciewayn3 maybe speak to your parents about your priorities? Invite them to chime in on the planning phase? Maybe they'll even help you stay accountable to your plan? The worst thing they can do is say no right
Loved the advice! "Saying yes to one thing means your saying no to another" along with time being a valuable asset that we all have the same amount of, makes it feel like an even playing field. Love love love it!
I do all this things... I jus don't have the energy... I'm also struggling with anxiety and ADHD (which I just discovered I have at 33 years old). I know it's not an excuse and I'm trying really hard to overcome these problems. I've made huge improvements in the last 1,5 years with therapy and prescribed drugs and I hope (and feel) I'm gonna be a lot better in another 1,5 years. Thanks so much for your tips!
As does my daughter ... which is all the more reason to implement a tool to become more productive to help focus your efforts and reduce some of the anxiety. What a lot of people don't know is people who have ADHD can uber concentrate on something they have a passion for, it's kind of counterintuitive. :)
I really like the part where Chris says you've got to be acutely aware that when you're saying "yes" to something, you're automatically saying "no" to everything else. This was very powerful. Fantastic time management tips Amy!
I'm obviously watching your video so I can learn to be more productive with my time. I have a husband, child, career, dogs, I have no time to do anything it seems, I accomplish very little and I am so easily sidetracked, I'm watching, ready to learn, help me!
I love when these productivity videos come up in my feed at the beginning of the week. It's motivational and makes me feel like I can get things done this week.
Truth time: I have three kids at home and work in academia. I calendar block like crazy, and would be lost without it. But does it work? Between colleagues, students, my children, my partner, weird viruses brought home from kindergarten, the occasional writer's block and my parents ageing, my calendar-based plans work out about 30% of the time. No more. However, if I didn't have them, these 30% would also break away. And that would cause mayhem. So no, it doesn't really work, but yes, it helps, as long as you don't guilt-trip yourself when it doesn't work.
uclmu2008 I was gonna say.. the kids can't just be urgency like a boss pulling you away from a project. But you can schedule the important things like their eating, bathing, etc. But their needs are just so much more. But at least knowing there are other moms out there who say they don't really get even 80% of what they have planned helps lift the guilt a bit
Yes, I think with children the order of the day is flexibility. (Same with creativity, by the way - if I write a research paper and it flows and then admin time pops up on my calendar, I'd be a fool not to ignore it :-)). Everything else must come second, at least for me, or I'd go mad and never get stuff done. So I think calendar blocking only works for me as a parent and as a researcher if I go into it with modest expectations - I really don't need any more self-served helpings of guilt :-).
uclmu2008 it’s all about balance! I think as a work from home mom, you have to allow yourself to have some grace or you will lose your mind. I just launched my channel this week on this very subject because I feel like so many women like myself, try to balance so much and it’s so easy to feel like you are failing at everything. Hang in there momma! I bet you are doing a great job!
While in college, I did not study from 4 - 8pm. I studied after my daughters were asleep. Once my daughters were home from school, I tended to everything else. Supper, dishes, vacuuming, washing clothes, ironing, baths. I encouraged my girls to do their own homework or to stay after school for extra help, because I didn't have any extra time to help them. They both did well.
Amy, you are so articulate and confident! I love it! Do you have books on confidence, speaking with people and public speaking that you recommend? I love your look when you spoke with Chris. Such a pretty look and dress! I love his value on family despite his busy schedule! So admirable.
Same!! I actually have made these videos into a personal development playlist and I listen to it while I go walking! Getting 10K Steps a Day + Personal Development At the same Time = WIN!
I’m 20 and this video really gave me some light on how to time manage everything from work to school and the times in between when I have free time. I procrastinate a lot, but I’m trying to motivate myself to do more things instead of doing everything all at once.
Loved the video Amy. One break-through I've made lately is realizing it doesn't take much time to make meaningful progress in something. For example, I'm really into backgammon now and I started a backgammon course wherein I study a game 5 minutes per day but I do it everyday! Thanks for reminding me - keep up the great work.
I was calendar blocking for a while. I had what I was doing every moment of the day blocked off, including when I was eating and sleeping, but I stopped because I felt like I was spending as much, if not more, time planning my days than actually doing the things I've scheduled. Also if I've scheduled something and then I can't stick to it, I feel a bit mad at myself, but I know I need to try to move past that.
I was calendar blocking religiously for months and got totally burnt out for the exact same reasons. I stopped for several more months, eventually realizing I was back in the habit of wasting time because I didn't have my day blocked off. I started again a couple of months ago, but I'll only do it during my 4-5 "real" working days so that 2-3 days a week are intuitive and more relaxed. That's helped me a lot to stick to it and not feel like a slave to my own planner!
Really good reminders. I think a lot of times one reason why we feel run ragged or like we have no time to do what we want is because we’re not making the necessary plans or schedule adjustments.
It was powerful when he said he truly knows when is a yes or not for sure. Behind that explanation I think I’ve got enough lost time and is time to schedule it. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
Hi Amy, I have been watching your videos for over a month now, and your ideas have brought huge changes in my life. I get up early now (most days), my days are well planned out, my finances are starting to take shape, my life is so much less stressful. Thank you! I wanted to comment on your point that parents have a hard time scheduling because children are not predictable. I have 3 kids, ages 10, 7, and 5. I also have an acreage with a horse, ponies, ducks, a dog, and cats. My work is giving pony riding lessons to kids, which are frequently cancelled due to weather, sickness, or even temper tantrums! My point: I have a ton of variables in my life. My solution: Plan for it. For example, I know the kids will have a million reasons to delay us. So, I plan to arrive 15 minutes early, plus a 15 minute load time (load time is the point from which I say "Time to go!" Until kids are actually buckled in their seats.) I also do not block out every moment of my day, because I want times and spaces when the kids know I am available for them. I like to leave 30 minutes to an hour between commitments, because the kids will need to show me something, they will have a fight, they might want a cuddle or a story. And I want time for that! If I want a fully blocked in calendar, I write "Kids" in those spaces. Also, remember that parenting is a huge job and a useful way to spend your time. I hope that helps some parents who are trying to get started on a more productive path, but still want to have time for their kids.
Hey! I just found your channel yesterday. Started a videography & social media marketing company with my husband this year. I have been so overwhelmed with all the things that need to get done ✅ I am trying your blocking method and working to regiment my time. Really helpful!
@@michaelanagnostis6839 it has helped me when things are regular and commit to it. Had some irregular things come up the last couple weeks. Really trying to refocus!
I could'nt live without my calender ! It gives me freedom. I also use a timer during the day either set for 30 min or 1 hr .It helps me stay on task and also reminds me to get up and move around. :)
I've been an active journaler pretty much since childhood, though it really picked up more in my adolescent years. Up to maybe 2 or 3 years ago it was pretty much only recapping my day or week, poetry here and there, and maybe a bit of the "Should-do" listing. Only more recently have I been getting increasingly better at putting my "Resolutions Into Action" and instead of creating "Should-do" lists I've been blocking with basically itineraries for my days and what I know I need to get done throughout the week. Calendars have always been active because they're good reminders and make keeping track easier. What's really been helping though...even just in making a decision and STICKING with it, has been the decision to wake up early EVERY morning at the same time and actually get myself out of bed with that first alarm. It gives me more time in my day and in a way forces me to be more productive and I LOVE it! I've been doing great! The social media addiction, however, is still a problem, which is why this morning I made a point to deliberately and consciously NOT check any of my notifications until AFTER I showered and made breakfast, basically I made the decision to say "No" to social media until I complete my Morning Ritual.🙏
Watched your 5 am video 2 days ago and have now woken up 5 am in a row. Also done calendar blocking for day- esp. between 5 am- 7am. So helpful! Can get things done. And even if I cannot, I know beforehand. Great success tips. Love it!

Wow! Chris' explanation of "saying yes to something is saying no to something else" totally helped with my mindset shift! After hearing that I'm looking at the things I say yes to (school work, volunteering, etc.) with a different perspective and now looking forward to getting up earlier in the morning. Yes to early morning blog post writing and no to sleeping in for no reason. Thanks for this video!
I used to ask myself - Why am i waking up early - this has made me realize that my mind set has changed. I think after listening to you last week on how not to waste time, i got a mind shift without realizing it. last night i scheduled everything!!!!!!.... bible time, shower time, study time, commute time etc & today has been such a productive day. Thanks Amy. #WatchingFromKenya
I really appreciate what you said in the video, but you literary wasted my time. you could've said the same thing in 5 minutes or less, but you chose to give it 13:00 minutes! please don't take this as hatred! this is just a remark I would you to take in, so next time try to shorten the video especially that the entire video was talking about the same method aka timeboxing, and this is a time management video. Anyways! Thank you so much!! I will definitely try time boxing and try to be more productive. I'm a college student and my aim is to finish the semester without pulling any all-nighter.
Sarah Abou Said just made a quick video about Another good resource for time management: Eisenhower’s box (4 square method) It’s something that can really help you determine what activities will help you vs what activities won’t. So idk if that’s short enough to help u but there ya go
“Shoulding all over yourself!” Oh my god you just gave me a lightbulb moment, my to-do list is getting binned first thing, my calendar is going to be my new best friend. Thank you for that insight Amy x
Amy Landino any chance you would do a vlog on choosing clothes, investing in your look etc? Also you could post affiliate links for your look of the day and get a little money- I think your looks are amazing!
I do have a kid and I can acknowledge that it's' very challenging to work around. That said in my particular situation ( Can't speak for other people) there's definitely some time I could be using better. I appreciate your awareness and perspective.
Wow!!!! I don't know if you speak spanish but I have to say it in plain spanish: ME ACABAS DE DAR LA RESPUESTA QUE BUSCABA (translation. You just gave me the answer I was looking for) to do my calendar more productive. I've never thought of scheduling my simple things like checking my email or my social media. And that was mindblowing to me. Thanks
Amy, I love when you expand on this. This is the type of video I actually share with myself for future reference; I just have to go back to my self-sent text.
Been using my calendar forever. However, my separate to do list shifted to my calendar was the best idea. I used to do it that way, but forgot about it, now I am rocking it again. Thanks!
Hi Amy - so it's been 6 days since I saw your video with Chris. I implemented the advice and OMG - the RESULTS!!!! It's even impacted the space I have at work where I've had "stuff" all over the place. Well I jumped onto that and changed my approach completely. I have sitting on my desk the top 3 priorities to hit first thing in the morning. It's even impacting at home - thinking about those micro-moments where time can be saved. For starters - ladies!!! How many times do we find ourselves staring at our wardrobe wondering what we are going to wear for the day, then change our minds and before we know it 20 mins are GONE. So I'm tackling the wardrobe to do a purge, declutter and hit reset.
Oh, loved this video! Especially, being a wife, I adore the part where he said that Fridays are for wife! And after 4pm he’s home with their son is sooo heartwarming and so inspiring!
thank you so much for this video. Ive always been such a huge yes person. feeling though I was assigning my value to people asking for me to be in projects and events. Thinking if I said no then I was of no value to them. I never thought of it in turns of saying YES means saying NO to something else and that something else was me at times. This has truly been a life changing perspective shift. I hope I just just wake up tomorrow at noon:30 and pooh pooh it out my head.
Love how Chris talks about Friday as "wife" day. My husband and I did that all summer this past year and it was ah-mazing. We need to re-institute that. Also love the simple but HUGE reminder that saying "YES" means you are also saying "NO" - but that the yesses seem to mean even more. Great stuff Amy - thank you!
I first want to say I am so glad I found your channel and I have spent the last 2 hours watching all your helpful tips. Calendar blocking, time cubes and the staying away from distraction tips have been refreshing ideas I am going to try. Trying to pass my CPA exam while working full time (long hours) in my third year of public accounting has been so challenging. Saying no when I’ve said yes to something else is something I find myself doing daily. Such good advice from your friend. Thanks for all your videos. Going to work on my calendar blocking skills right now.
I halfway got into that mindset. I know it's important to block my time and I block everything. I wake up at 4am every morning to get more time in my day. I think I tend to procrastinate/ get distracted easily. Once I get over that last hurdle I think I'll be a productive machine. ❤
Hi Amy, thank you for making this video. Finding and subscribing to your channel has been a godsend to me! Thank You :) So, my life changed in August when my fiancé and I moved in together. We both had to get used to a different life with different responsibilities. I was feeling overwhelmed with it all finding that after work, cooking dinner and doing housework, it all took forever and I didn't have enough me time . When I found your channel all that changed! I've been calendar blocking and its changed my life! I use both my mobile calendar and a note book. In my note book I write down the time I'm going to do everything like a list. I also add them them to my mobile calendar. I set times for how long im going to spend in the shower, having breakfast, cooking, cleaning various rooms etc and im on a role. Sticking to it all is easy for me as I keep an eye on the clock. I say 'Im on a schedule, Im on a schedule' :) Thanks again. All the best, Andrea xx
Amy, wow. You reacted on the comments from parents in best possible way. You were able to relate to something unfamiliar to you (yet 😊) because it is highly debated in your community. As a mother, I found it very touching somehow... Also, I respect you now even more than before. 🤘
You know what? I was watching all this motivation shit that we have on RUclips and no one but you make me so motivated and focuse on my goals like you. I finally start to fiding the way to work with myself. Thank you for that.
Oh my gawd, Amy!!! This is exactly what I recommend to the parents I coach to help them “say yes” to self-care, meal planning, etc. Definitely not only a tool for entrepreneurs! Thank you for this validating video!
I love this! I'm working on incorporating more house-related things in my calendar. I've integrated emptying the cat box and stretching my legs into my bed time routines - check! So soon I will be returning to work after a long leave and that's where my system maintenance will really be put to the test. My job is super messy with tasks as I'm a teacher - sometimes I spend 15 minutes at school finishing something before I leave, sometimes it's an hour or two. But I'm hoping that blocking off my calendar to do these tasks will help me find the time to be my most excellent, organized teaching self! And maybe cleaning the house won't be so bad if I spend a few minutes on it every day. I love watching your channel because I get excited about learning ways to be better!
CALENDAR is the RULE.
BOO YAH

Muhammad Farooq Having a calendar is very helpful
1. Track your time. See where all of your time is going.
2.Put your to do list on your schedule. Block every single thing. Every minute.
3. Scheduel EVERYTHING. "When we say yes to something means that we say no to something else."
Thank you Mehrin. I was looking for summary in comments.
Thank you for your summary.

Me too. Everyone "WOW"ed when I list my plan on the dissertation proposal. Turns out other people's advices are helpful!

I'm still having trouble waking up early 7 days straight but at least I do it 5 out of 7 ;)
Carol PenGra thats awesome😊😊😊😁

Time management tips
I'm retired. I get up at 10am and go to bed at midnight. My day is still very busy. However, there are more days where I can do absolutely nothing.
Thank you!!
Right?!?! I'm SO glad he pointed that out. I KNEW it would be super helpful for you guys to hear from someone who is massively successful.
Exactly! Love that you said that Ashley.
Ashley Lorelle yes! 🙌🏻 So true! Just talked about time management in my video this week and I really believe you have to be honest with yourself and time block based on the windows of time you actually can focus on work not just set up times knowing you will have a ton of distractions
I am a mom. I use your calendar blocking technique. I am getting really good at being within 20 minutes, EVEN with kid stuff. Amy is awesome ♡
Should. 😎
Rick Mitchell It totally makes sense!
Amy, please please PLEASE do a vide on calendar blocking! I cannot figure out how to do this for myself
There is a video on her channel its calles how to plan your day i think
Congrats Amy. You have been killing it lately!
Can I join your team Rachel LOL. I want to try my luck in affiliate marketing
Xxx
Great tips, Amy. I love how you said that planning is never going to be perfect but it's still vital for good time management. Cheers!
My struggle is watching videos about managing time instead of managing time.
Alfred Walters mine too
hahaha same here
and Yet... that itself is a good first step. It beats watching comedy or porn, because you are at least pondering and mentally preparing the issue
Ty, Simon
Thank you!
Tanya, could you provide a link to the zen CEO thing you spoke of?
yen, not zen .. sorry bout that 😊
could you give us a link to the yen CEO routine video you spoke of?
Brianna V.B. I miss typed I meant the word the and not yen lol... just type in the ceo routine in the RUclips search it’s from buzzfeed

Hello friend. I use to suffer from the same issues. Then I found wayne dyer. Give him a try and see if he helps. Wishing you peace
I literally found your videos a half an hour ago and because of them I just finished my notes for a HUGE presentation (yay) so thanks for that!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite quote:
“If you keep doing what you’ve been doing... you’ll keep getting what you’ve been getting “.
Works BOTH ways.
Great video Amy! I'd love to see a video of how you actually use and block time off on your calendar.
Cuteek me too! 💕
I'm obviously watching your video so I can learn to be more productive with my time. I have a husband, child, career, dogs, I have no time to do anything it seems, I accomplish very little and I am so easily sidetracked, I'm watching, ready to learn, help me!
Your voice is so perfect and the way you talk is so good
I love when these productivity videos come up in my feed at the beginning of the week.
Mother of a three year old, single, in academia. Can relate. ♥️
uclmu2008 it’s all about balance!
You are a productivity role model for me!
Aw thank you!

I’m 20 and this video really gave me some light on how to time manage everything from work to school and the times in between when I have free time. I procrastinate a lot, but I’m trying to motivate myself to do more things instead of doing everything all at once.
For an A type personality you're very funny and down to earth.
Yep, I feel the same way.
Maybe just take it one week at a time
It's just as important to schedule periods of rest as well - as an award for work well done or just to have something to look forward to.
Really good reminders. I think a lot of times one reason why we feel run ragged or like we have no time to do what we want is because we’re not making the necessary plans or schedule adjustments.
Can you show a video of your actual calendar and what you mean by "blocking it out"
Idk if you saw eventually but she has at least one great one of those videos!
OMG, I Love what he said about saying yes to one means saying no to another. I need to print my calendar tomorrow for jottings.
It was powerful when he said he truly knows when is a yes or not for sure. Behind that explanation I think I’ve got enough lost time and is time to schedule it. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
In addition, would u mind to do a video how to do a RUclips channel from the scratch I’m learning. Thanks 🙏🏻
You make me nervous...
Hi Amy,
I have been watching your videos for over a month now, and your ideas have brought huge changes in my life.
My calendar(s) are SO important! Such a helpful video for those of us looking to live our BEST lives!
Meg Kerns Thanks Meg!
Meg Kerns Absolutely ! 💕
Hey! I just found your channel yesterday. Started a videography & social media marketing company with my husband this year. I have been so overwhelmed with all the things that need to get done ✅ I am trying your blocking method and working to regiment my time. Really helpful!
The blocking is a game changer! How is it working for you guys so far?
@@michaelanagnostis6839 it has helped me when things are regular and commit to it. Had some irregular things come up the last couple weeks. Really trying to refocus!
LOL "you know how I feel about shoulding all over yourself" haha words to live by
Besong Tataw 😂 my favorite part!
That got me too😂
I could'nt live without my calender ! It gives me freedom. I also use a timer during the day either set for 30 min or 1 hr .It helps me stay on task and also reminds me to get up and move around. :)
Okay um you’re kind of like amazing?
pretty much
Isn't she?!

Time management tips
Berta axo she really is! 💕
Time cost, money cost, and opportunity cost
Watched your 5 am video 2 days ago and have now woken up 5 am in a row. Also done calendar blocking for day- esp. between 5 am- 7am. So helpful! Can get things done. And even if I cannot, I know beforehand. Great success tips. Love it!
Her "Its time to burn your to do list" in a verry serous attitude me: what?
Great point about to-do lists being should-do lists! Once you put items on your calendar and schedule them - they will get done.
*CALENDAR BLOCKING WITH GOOGLE FOR THE WIN*
yeah, i think you can set the specific time down to the minute if you set it as an event on your google calender
Super duper agreed with what you said. To accomplish something is to have a block time for the thing you really want to accomplish!
Great channel! I keep learning daily from all of this. Thank you!
Do you know anyone who is involved in the world of investment. They could be extremely helpful to you when planning your first dabble. Of course know someone who may have been successful. I trade Foreign exchange under active supervision on sponsored and insured assets carefully analyzed and selected by Mr Anmol Singh.
commercial and investment banks conduct most of the trading in the forex markets on behalf of their clients, but there are also speculative oppurtunities for trading one currency againsnt another for professional and individual investors. because of the worldwide reach of trade, commerce and finance.
Its up to you to look into that avenue, find out how those markets work and find out which seems best for you. Take advantage of the foreign exchange rates to earn money and asset investment (spending on assets such as real estate and cryptocurrency in which equity and value will then grow. Will surely!

Started with their $100 investment plan, was not disappointed so went for their $300 package now. One clearly gets their daaiky profit on a daily basis, Monday to Friday up to 1.5% for 200 days or 300% and you can withdraw with the minimum amount of $10
i like Chris's - no emails 'till after 12. Mornings are for full on creativity. Right on. ty Amy
You remind me of Peter McKinnon. (Except the music and B-Roll)
I live by time blocking my days, but still struggle with underestimating the amount of time things are going to take me.
What dress are you wearing with your interview with Chris??!?!?!?!
It’s by Karen Millen. It was so perfect for the presentation I gave before this chat. I think it’s still available on their site.
Oh with my ADHD I NEED BETTER time management. 😍
Thanks
if you want to manage time . you should manage your life first.
Amy, I love when you expand on this. This is the type of video I actually share with myself for future reference; I just have to go back to my self-sent text.
Duuuuuuuuude.... *SHIFTTING*
Amy you are changing my life each day.. thanks for being that angel..
Time management is such a big deal to get more done throughout the day. Thank you for the tips
You're so welcome!
I love how you and Chris bring out each others personalities. Thanks for the advice guys.
