- New York City Center's gala production of PARADE will run from November 1-6, 2022.
Watch stars Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen) and Micaela Diamond (The Cher Show) perform a song from the musical in the rehearsal room, with composer Jason Robert Brown at the piano.
The cast also includes Gaten Matarazzo (Stranger Things, Dear Evan Hansen), Eddie Cooper, Paul Alexander Nolan, and more.

This is one of the most joyous songs JRB ever wrote. Ben nails bith the house and the anxiety in the character and Michaela is amazing
JRB's playing is fire. No one will replace Brent Carver, but Jeremy Jordan came very close. Ben sells tickets.

They are great leads. Brown's a gifted writer and musician. Personally, I find this number quite tragic (given what happens).

Love seeing Ben bring back this softness to Leo that we haven’t seen since the original casting with Brent Carver
I personally didn’t like Jeremy’s version of Leo. I feel like he doesn’t have that baritone sound on those lower notes like in Come Up to My Office. He is truly a tenor and Ben Platt I feel like is a baritone that really worked for those higher notes.

My goodness Ben Platt - that one was one heck of a performance! He really brought his vocal chops here and Micaela Diamond - oh I love her! She's got this presence about her that I cant help but admire. The pianist really is something too for playing that with his eyes closed.

and this was just a rehearsal! His performance was so rich and nuanced. And his singing was ... I can't think of any more to say as it was perfection! There was a loud roar and long applause after this number. He nailed his other songs as well especially Come up To my office (with dance!).
recently saw Parade in NYC, what an amazing show, but Ben was simply perfect.
Ben platt is the most perfect actor for this role that I’ve seen (but I still absolutely love the others) and also JRB- he’s a piano machine for sure ❤ it’s perfection

PARADE and THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS (both based on gross historical injustices) are very challenging works that failed at the box-office because these true accounts are just too horrific for a general audience. I know both musicals are about the triumph of the human spirit -- but you're dragged so deep into man's inhumanity to man that you exit the theater wanting to open a vein. Nevertheless, I'm very sorry I missed Ben Platt in this production. I'm sure his inner-light brought some buoyancy to this very dark material.

Would’ve loved to see a more mature actor get a chance at this… he just doesn’t seem to have the experience in his eyes or his heart. Pretty voice though
Platt's age is fine, he's just not nearly a competent enough actor to handle this text. Leo was 31 when he died. It's important to have actors around the age of figures like this to show the strength they showed while so young. Like Fred Hampton was only 21 when he was assassinated, I think that factor is stifled when you try to get "experience" over someone talented at the right age.

Am I the only one who thinks Ben Platt was wrong from day 1 for this role? He's just too young. None of the emotion is real and I doubt he can relate to Leo's struggles... and it's an absolute necessity for the role. Too many Evan Hansen mannerisms. Yes, I saw him do the show. JRB is still king of the piano...and always will be!

Andrew is in London at the moment playing Jim Bakker in Elton John’s Tammy Faye musical. And apparently Ben did a workshop of this a few years prior.
This is the rehersal room. Why judge by that? What matters is what happends on stage, and he was phenomenal on stage.

Wrong choice. Ben isnt suit this role, or atleast his act os unable to suit this role. It s just DEH all over again. If you mute the sound and just look at Ben acting amd moving. You d think he s singing one of DEH song. No feeling or message send to audiences like they suppose to be at all.
I assure you, he was the perfect choice. Ben as Leo Frank on stage is completely different from Ben in his private close at a rehersal.

@@JK_kline Well, I saw him live during the run last week. I've also seen DEH multiple times. He did not bring Evan into his every move on stage as Leo. There was one or two movements I immediately identified but the rest is very much Leo Frank. Keep in mind he was also nervous, anxious and in jail for most of it. The rehearsal was more laidback. I saw Parade the second night so the cast had warmed up to the live stage performance more than in the official videos that has been released. I'm saying I saw something different on stage than what they previously showed in the videos.
He is superb in this. Believable, charismatic, emotional, just the perfect LEO. Seeing him do this live was wonderful. And his choices were different and deeper from the work he had obviously done since this filming.
I saw Parade a few days ago. Ben is absolutely amazing, he is the best singer-actor I've ever seen anywhere. Seems to me there are quite a few people here who have no idea what they are talking about.
