I saw them at MSG in September, '81 and they played this. What a great live tune.
At a Christian church years ago, they showed us a video called "Satan in Rock." It had BOC, Ozzy, Sabbath and at that time I had all their albums and heard them many many times. It talked about their symbol of the upside down cross, which i have a tattoo of on my arm. I was LMAO. The church was trying to tell me those bands were all Satan BS. Riiiiight. 😁
when AC/DC was getting big in the late 70's - then huge by the early 80's - they also became a BIG target for the bible thumpers - but just Ozzy alone probably pushed their buttons more than anyone ..
@@billyz5088 I think Priest was also on trial bcz 2 teens committed suicide that were fans of JP. Insane man! But ya Ozzy put the fear in those bible thumpers! Ozzy lived that Keith Moon destructive lifestyle.
I was in the same boat with you in 1981 and 1982 when I was a teenager. I was reprimanded for listening to "Devil's music". Those Idiots.
@@ChicagoBeaver oh that beloved sot we've all seen on stage screaming "I love you! god bless you all!", and has had a penchant for anti war themes his entire career? LOL
@@vibrant20 I'm not misguided by disinformation and what not, just stating facts man. Just the facts.
I never understood how Albert neve got put in the ranks of people like Peart. The same goes for the whole band. They should be up there with all the top musicians.
It was because they were so talented and diverse. They covered a lot of territory musically, arguably the most even jazz! Five guys who could sing lead vocal. Virtuoso musicians!
@@Cinemagoer_64 Well, other bands were talented too. I think it had to do with promotion, and maybe being too hard to categorize. I definitely agree with your views on their talent.
🎯🎯🎯🎯
It's crazy stupid that they weren't played more on the radio and insane that they're not in the HOF. I think it comes down to a few things:
Pearlman and Meltzer had pissed off some industry people.
The word "Cult" - yeah it's stoooopid with a capital ESSSS
Satan references - 7 Screamin Dizbusters and a few more. "OMG it's Satan!!!!"
ME262 - The Nazi jet plane and , oh no! they say the word Hitler in the song. (Duh, Bloom & Roeser are Jewish you mindless fucktards.)
Yeah, I think there are people in the industry that are too stupid to get the humor and way too dumb to understand Sci-Fi references. It's really fucking sad. Oh well, fuck 'em. I got my albums and CD's and MP3's and Ima rockin' out and if you industry MOFO's can't handle it, then too fucking bad. Enjoy your stash of Air Supply records.
BOC is absolutely the most talented American band ever. What might have been had they been able to work things with Albert. They were definitely on a rebound with Fire Of Unknown Origin.
It's a crying shame really. If you listen to the new BOC vs new Albert, you see why the band was great during his days.
@@sunjester8254
Respectfully, he was more than a drummer/singer...a composer, integral founding member & guiding light. 🌠
@@loilt5091 Respectfully I will bow of this. Don't ask. I refuse to reply.
All things considered; BOC is probably the best collaborative song-writing act ever.
Amazing Diz Busters live from 1981! 💗 The Symbol Remains! ❄🌎✌😄❄🥀
Great old photos of the band
🔥🔥🔥
Makes me proud to be an American !
That's simple, it is taken from the West Runton gig, Downey drummed the first tracks and Albert entered the show TOO LATE on Seven Screaming DIzbusters...
b.o.c. forever!
I am Loving this classic as much , maybe more than OYFOOYK -!-¿ 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Definitely a different sound but the talent is there. Tight band!
blue oyster cult !!!! rules
Great song.
"And Lucifer, the Light!"
I remember a good few years back reading a Christian fundamentalist tract called 'Angels' by the late Jack T. Chick about a no hope heavy metal band being catapulted into the big time by a mysterious agent called Lew Siffer as a result of signing a contract for a major record deal in their own blood and losing their souls into the bargain. It makes me wonder if he took his inspiration from the spoken word segment by Eric Bloom on the live rendition of this track. Uncannily similar but I know B.O.C. had their tongues firmly implanted in their cheeks and didn't really do a deal with the Devil. If that was the case, they wouldn't be playing the same small club venues where they could be caught this past few years before Covid.
The idea of making a deal with the devil and writing it in blood goes back a lot further in time than BOC and 7SD. Ancient Christians, and probably many today, believed that witches made pacts with the Devil and signed the contract in blood.
Paganini, regarded as the greatest violinist, was thought to have sold his soul to the Devil for his skills. I think I even read somewhere that he said it himself, but I can't find evidence of this.

What legend has it occurred to Robert Johnson at the crossroads and supposedly brought about a huge difference in his playing ability. A Faustian pact which popular culture is replete with examples of.
This is not Albert on drums. It's Rick Downey.
I beg to differ, Albert's laid back syncopated style shines through more on this recording than say, New Haven in the fall of '81 where we know it's Rick, witness the same song from that show and you can tell they're different styles.....ruclips.net/video/aViRQmTao5o/видео.html
What is the date of this show?
Not sure, I've done research and there's no definite date, from the sound of the mix it could be an outtake from the Bond's International show.
I still have to disagree. Alberts drumming has more swing. Guess if we sent it to Albert, and asked the question,we'd get an answer.
My bet is that it is not Albert.
What exactly is a Diz Buster?
It has something to do with cum.
I'm sure this is from a 70's show -Eric says the song was 4 or 5 years ago from the '73 album.
He said they hadn't PLAYED it in about 4 or 5 years. And I believe the '75 tour was the last time they had so that would put this around 1980 or 1
@@gerry-re3hq Yeah you're right. They started playing it again in '80.They excised Bucks Boogie from those years too.The '81 MSG show had no BB but it did surprisingly have I Ain't Got You.Great show probably one of their best. The Florida broadcast also being superb. That's the one MIich Mitchell came backstage before the show and was so stoned no one had any idea what he was mumbling about.
Maybe I shouldn’t have had that last bowl.
...because I think I hear something... big outside the house...
At first, you question if it's Albert, because it's not his best. As the song goes on though, you know there's no way Downey could be playing this.
Correct
Regardless...Horse Shirt!
@@michaeljones9316 That settles the discussion! I love the horse shirt also!
Those shorts tho....
I know, right? Cracks me up every time. He kinda pulls it off though.
With or without Albert?
I'm reasonably sure it's Albert
@@208gerry Any idea what BOC's BBC Rock hour actually was Gerry ? ... I listened to BBC Radio back then (between about 1978-83) on Friday & Saturday nights for their rock output & never heard a BOC one ... the interesting thing is that there is a photo with Alan "Fluff" Freeman a BBC DJ & BOC (with Albert there) that looks like it was taken in England in August 1981 .. so maybe something did happen then ?
The 4 witches (or wives) exciled Albert from the band!
Why do people always blame the women? It was Buck's decision that Albert had to go. Albert was the one with someone he shouldn't have been with. The whole band screwed up.
@@sunjester8254 your right I shouldnt have said that. In hindsight I find it cool they stuck with there wives. I just think Albert was great
@@generaljj577 I don't think the band is the same without him, Joe, and Allen. Sadly, we can't get aAllen, but the Bouchards should still be in the band.
@@sunjester8254
2 Oyster Cult + the Bouchard Bros. & Richie, would be my choice...at least for the 50th Anniversary, next year‼️🔭👽
Albert was doing so much Coke he was either late and messed up or didn't show up at all. Albert admitted in interviews that he wishes he never got into doing coke.
Horse shirt.
Bucks lead guitar way to low in this mix
