Lyrics: Silent Waters
A day's light told me of my son's fate
The sun showed the way, grim and severe
Pulled under the raging waters, my child
Sank in the drowning currents, my son
My strength is not enough, my powers failed me
I need the heavens' help, I ask for thunder's force
I plead for you, oh lightning, forge an iron tool
A magic rake for dragging a river for my son
God of fire, bring your light
Forger of sun, help me now
Guardian of the shore will sleep in your warmth
Lull the folk of cold water
Banish the serpents of the dark
To the river let me go and fetch my son away
A rake made of iron from the Gods of skies
The spirit of bright days sent me the sun
Cold troops of Tuoni can not stand in my way
Untouched I shall walk by the river of the night
God of fire, bring your light
Forger of sun, help me now
Guardian of the shore will sleep in your warmth
Lull the folk of cold water
Banish the serpents of the dark
To the river let me go and fetch my son away
My child
My son
I'm a simple Finnish metalhead, I see a&p recting to finnish metal and I hit like
Life is simple in that way.
And if a band is swedish then dislike.
@@icedearth3332 How can you dislike Sabaton? No way.. 😂
Amorphis is finnish?? You learn something new every day.
@@MrThewrcfan Then you not watch.
Tomi's clean vocals are incredible but his growling is one of the best I've ever heard.
Agreed!
Growling ? He just uses technology my friend.
Anders Jacobsson from Draconian has the best growling, i've ever heard.
@@AfterDarknessiFeel No he doesn't. Everything you hear is him.
@@AfterDarknessiFeel What??? No he doesn't use any technology at all. Have you ever seen then live?
Their lead guitarist is the perfect example that solos don't need to be super fast and technical to make them awesome.
Ya Esa Halopainen is an awsome guitarist. Tomi kovousari bis an awsome rhythm guitarist.
Amorphis as a band is a masterpiece….
Tomi Joutsen. One of the best “singers “ of heavy metal. No only vocalist, he’s a great singer! Amorphis rules! Great Reactions friends. Greetings from Colombia!
Esa Holopainen makes guitar cry...flawless.
Amorphis is one of the best life bands I know. Tomi Joutsen is amazing live singer.
The majority of Amorphis lyrics are based on the Finnish national epic poetry called Kalevala and this song is based on one of those stories when a mother goes to look for his son, Lemminkäinen, a brave but foolish warrior, who she doesn't know has been killed in a fight and then she finds the parts of him in a river and collects his parts and makes him a man again.
Isn't the Silent Waters sort of prequel to The Bee? Things happening in this song happens just before the bee comes down to give new life to Lemminkäinen. Sort of the same situation, but from the mother's point of view and a bit earlier
Out of all the songs that have impressed you, this really MOVED you.
You, young man, sounded somber. As if the song had comforted you.
You were so calm, and like smiling peacefully inside tha your voice carried it.
The kind of joy Finns traditionally have preferred - not the loud one,
but the deeply satisfied.
And you, father - you sounded like you had a lump in your throat, like you nearly cried with that solo you mentioned, as if it helped you to touch some sorrow that needs touching. Have some healing tears, sir.
Kudos to you two.
Every album is amazing. From melodic clean vocals to death growls. I love it.
Congrats from lovely Bulgaria, our precious metal kingdom
Amorphis never fails 😎 Greetings from Finland
Funny, most bands I really like are finnish, too.
Wintersun
Ensiferum
Insomnium
Amorphis
Omnium Gatherum
Moonsorrow
Mors Principium Est
Battle Beast
Brothers of fire!!!!
First song that got me into Finnish metal in general
one of my favorite tracks by probably one of my all time top 5 bands. I cant wait to see them in October down here. excited to see what you think of this tour a month before I get to see them.
such a beautiful and melancholic song! The whole album is amazing
You guys are speechless. Not a word during the song and took you forever to recover from it afterwards. No vocal reacts at all! Man this song is so amazing, so powerful, so overwhelming. I felt the same way hearing this for the first time, years ago!
I have followed this band since the tales from the thousands lakes, year 1994 of 1995 or so. I saw the last gig of the old singer years later. That was an amazing experience, but this new guy, Joutsen, just took this band to a brand new level!
this was the first video I ever saw of amorphis and they have been my favorite band ever since
I too was once like you, I had a favorite band but Amorphis kept putting out amazing album after album, inching closer and closer. Once I heard Under The Red Cloud it was game over! I was able to see them in concert last year, you get a band that should be selling out arenas in a small venue it's awesome. Do yourself a favor when you have time, listen to all their bonus tracks some of the bonus songs are better than the ones on the albums and that is saying a lot!
Amorphis are amazing I only found out about them when they released under a red cloud but on first listen it became one of my favourite albums ever his vocals in the song sacrifice are also amazing clean singing his voice is amazing I hope they come to Australia soon I will see them
Been an Amorphis super fan ever since I first stumbled upon them back in 2006.. song was Divinity off of the Tuonela album. They have never disappointed to this day.
Pagan's Mind - Through Osiris Eyes (live in Atlanta - Full Circle) and Grave Digger - Twilight of the Gods.
Loved the Rusev day reference (and yeah, hearing Amorphis every Rusev Day makes every day just that much better^^). Oh, and I'll see them in February together with Soilwork and luckily , I can take my kids with me to the concert. Can't wait to see them again. The good thing about Amorphis is that when I do my Top 10 list for 2018, I already know which will take #1 spot. The rest will be much more difficult.
House of Sleep off Eclipse is really good too! That was the first album to feature Tomi on lead vocals as well.
Nice to see how you love Finnish bands. The best metal comes from here. We have the most metal bands per capita in the world, lol. The only metal band that is not from Finland and is in my top 5 is Sabaton, from our lovely neighbours, Sweden
BLACK WINTER DAY - AMORPHIS
Weird.. I just played this track now before I entered RUclips. We have a invisible bond:)
great reaction as always!
Telepathic mind reader I am
@@APREACTS Yoda thought you well, good sir😂
Teach me he did. lol
Please guys react to Mokoma - Sinne missä aamu sarastaa. They're another great Finnish band.
Yeah, Mokoma! Been saying this for a while. Too bad I think they can't do Vevo videos (for copyright reasons). However, they still have some good songs on the SakaraRecords channel. Like Sydänjuuret, Nujerra Ihminen or Kuollut, kuolleempi, kuollein.
This was their first song I ever heard, amazing.
Finland! I'm coming!
Hey A and P. Suffocation is coming to Toronto on October 24th for their farewell Frank north american tour.
Have to check to see what venue
I really like the song! His different type of vocals were really amazing. The guitar playing was really really good.
It is 30th anniversary year for Amorphis. They have released acoustic versions of Silent Waters and two other songs. Try for example "Far from the Sun", which is from their melancholic late 90's era.
I like almost all songs of Amorphis but my favorite is ...The sky is mine !!! ❤
Do Trollhammaren by Finntroll!
my favorite Amorphis song ever!
Always enjoy watching you guys to enjoy great music. With this song in particular there is an interesting backstory (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemminkäinen), quite many of Amorphis songs are based on finnish folk tale "Kalevala". The stories behind songs are quite interesting, you should brush up your finnish folk lore before visiting Tuska next summer... that's technically all we talk about there... :P
100% will do that for sure
You should react another great Amorphis song called "The Smoke". I bet the guitar melody and vocals in that song makes you adore Amorphis the way I do!
Im going to a Amorphis/TK gig in couple of weeks! im hyped AF!
Really good song. Tomi's vocals are awesome and the instrumentation is awesome too.
Try House of Sleep. It's one of my favorites from them (This one is too), but I think that HoS might be a tad better. For your own entertainment you might want to check out Eläkeläiset - Vaivaistalossa right after HoS and then go for Amorphis - House of Sleep (Special Humppa Version). Basically Amorphis did an awesome song, Eläkeläiset then made a humppa cover of it (They do a lot of humppa covers of rock and metal songs though they've done covers of pretty much any genre), and as topping on the cake Amorphis then made a live cover of Eläkeläiset's cover :D
Also, as something unrelated to Amorphis, please react to Arion - Burn Your Ship (Studio Version)
I second House Of Sleep. Probably the best opening riff ever. So catchy.
The "Silent Waters" album is my favorite Amorphis album. I've seen them live twice (on the "The Beginning of Times" and "Circles" tours) and sadly they haven't played a single song off that album. Had the chance to speak with Tomi after the second show and asked him why and he didn't have an answer. And from the setlists I've seen they still not playing anything off that album.
That's the downside of having as much incredible music as Amorphis has, they're always gonna leave out some amazing songs.
@@nowaiman I understand that but no songs from that album in several tours??? It's very strange.
Scar symmetry the illusionist😉 trust me hahaha
If you liked Silent Waters you’re gonna love Silver Bride too🤘🏼
Dig Amorphis, and your reviews. Thankyou.
Cool! Thanks guys I didnt know what I was missing. One of my favourites. Check out more Amorphis, their live performances are even better maybe. The Forging the Land of Thousand Lakes DVD is there for you (Sampo, Sky is Mine, Towards and Against...), but every good quality live videos are good ones. Greetings from your fan from Hungary
Thank you
Can we expect Draconian soon? :)
Death Come Near Me, Heaven Laid in Tears, Bloodflower, Morphine Cloud, Dishearten, Marriage of Attaris, The Gothic Embrace, Serenade of Sorrow, End of the Robe, Deadworld Assembly. Literally any!!!
This month for sure.
A&P-REACTS yay! Thanks guys. Any hints on what song? :3
Yessss Draconiannnn
Agreed. I've started to listen to metal with extreme vocals from this band. Death Come Near Me is masterpiece
Cauda Draconis, The Morningstar, A Scenery of Loss , The Abhorrent Rays , Cthulhu Rising,The Amaranth, The Failure Epiphany
Oldie goldie....
ah, the song of uneven staches. can not be unseen anymore.
How about Daylight Dies? They have an absolutely beautiful song named Ghosting.
Still my favourite Amorphis album :)
Shylmagoghnar - transience, a masterpiece!
Never a bad time for the amazing Amorphis! Check out Atavistia - Beyond The Meadows Of Fire. The band is one guy, in your country. Best of all, his biggest influence is Wintersun.
We have them on our to do list for this month.
@@APREACTS Looking forward to seeing your reaction!!
Great, also waiting for Atavistia! :)
\m/
It really does sound exactly like Wintersun's first album. Never heard of the band before, but I will definitely dig a bit deeper into them now.
hey again duders!
See it always goes back to the awesome musical country of finland.... I know you guys cover finnish metal bands very often...but noticed you have not got around to checking out the awesome fantasy themed battle metal band Battlelore....Also from Finland.
I might have suggested them before, but trust me home slices... you guys are going to enjoy!
Awesome song to start out with is "The War of Wrath" and in fact since i know you prefer live footage.. they shot a small show back in 2003 in at the Tavastasia Club, and it's a fine example of their energetic, epic on stage presence.
also worth checking out from the same live perfomance is the song "Buccaneer's Inn"... in this song they give the little spritely girl oppurtune to show she actually can sing
Enjoy
new song from Parasite Inc - Once And For All
Infected Rain - Orphan Soul
Mushroomhead - We Are The Truth
Black Tide- Warriors of Time
The album version not that unfortunately chopped up music video version
So you like Wolfheart? I like it too but my favorite project by Tuomas Saukkonen is Black Sun Aeon which released three great albums in years 2009-2011. If you want to check it out, there is a music video for the song "Frozen" at least. Strong recommendation.
Dad and son -your are awesome
Great reaction.
React to this: Thunderstruck by Steve'n'Seagulls (LIVE)
- Metal gone Bluegrass, acoustically of course.
And if you like acoustic, react to Apocalyptica: Nothing Else Matters, or Hope (own composition).
Without a doubt, one of their best songs
This is serious...you came in to my dream. You were holding hands while listening to Amorphis... and i was like wtf
Sounds more like a nightmare for someone to see us in their dreams
I think it just tells that i don't have a life 😄
You should check out Transience by Shylmagoghnar, it's a "Progressive/Atmospheric Melodic Blackened Death Metal" band (genre quoted from their official Facebook page xD) from the Netherlands. I was actually surprised you haven't reacted to one of their songs yet. Really great band.
Reacts Him some day 🤘
Mokoma - kuu saa valtansa auringolta. . (moon gets its power from the sun) one of the most beautiful songs (imo). finnish lyrics, but i bet that it will raise your hair as well 😉
React to the beginning of the end by HIM!
Topias Kyosti Miks hevihemmot kuuntelis moista paskaa!?
@@ynyk89 kuuntelee ne Sabatoniaki, ja se jos mikä on paskaa. Eikä ne pelkkää heavyä kuuntele. Kuunteles toi niin ymmärrät säkin.
Could you guys check out Amiensus - Become the Fear?
cheers guys : )
Shylmagoghnar - As All Must Come To Pass
Atavistia - Seas of Stars
Nothgard! :)
You guys should check out Before the Dawn - Deadsong
Noumena - Misanthropolis, listen it, you wont be dissappointed :)
You guys need to check out Morgana by Lord of the lost it’s such a good song and quite unique too 🤘
Thank you!!! I've been trying to get them to react to Lord of the Lost for a while. Let's stay on them.
Ginny DiLeo I hope they do check them out definitely my favorite metal band no doubt about it!
Thanks!
Also listen album version of this song, as Its little bit longer with extra verse. And next song I would recommend BATTLE BEAST - Lost in Wars feat. Tomi Joutsen from Amorphis
Theocracy - The Mirror Of Souls (with lyrics)
Should do some songs from Pasi's era. Some early Amorphis would be great.
This song feels like a mix of Scar Symmetry and Nightwish to me
Kamelot - Memento Mori
Soilwork - Petrichor By Sulphur
Hey guys, have not seen them on your channel, so some true badass winter metal, react to olden goldie, Swallow The Sun- Descending Winter. One of the best growls ever.
Swallow the Sun videos get copyright blocked that is why you haven't seen it.
A&P-REACTS crap, stupid cp.
React to HIM - It's all tears (live in overdrive).
try amorphis- black winter day, my kantele, sky is mine
Please check out Diablo- read my scars
You have to react to house of sleep. I think its their greatest hit.. And The best IMO haha
Sublime
Too many of Tomi's Amorphis and you're soon indoctrinated into Finnish mythology... and the we need the iron rake to get your parts from Tuoni, the River of Death.
You know the guy who inspires the lyrics actually speaks on Daughter of Hate?
Shylmagoghnar - Transiece.
This is for everyone who loves melodeath. Trust me.
Himsa- Big Timber
Cara, por favor faça um "react" dessa banda brasileira que esta emergindo do underground.
Letra está em português.
A Última Theoria - Loucos, Profetas!
Please do House of sleep, from Amorphis!
Ällös pane merkille viiksien epäsymmetriaa, ällös pane merkille...
There should be another Sparrow somewhere there.
Stam1na - enkeltenmurskain, soooooo good!
Video is blocked by Sony on copyright
Damn, its a new song, probably available later... Thanks for the videos!
Nah...Sony owns the copyright they always block it
Malevolence- self supremacy and get the shot- blackened sun please
Tomi looks like Jack Sparrow. :D
I always thought that Tomi looked like a singing version of Jason Momoa. Back when he was doing SGA.
I will sell my soul for that Trivium shirt. Antonio please give it to me. Oh well Amorphis day, awesome. Pedro just to let you know on August 31st there are new album releases by "Beyond the Black (Heart of the Hurricane) and Helion Prime (Attack of the Cybernetic Space Monster). You should check out some of their videos before doing an album review.
I am traveling this week, so the videos have pre-recorded. Not sure I will have time to check those two albums. I will 100% be posting a review of The Vintage Caravan but also looking at Omnium Gatherum new album
Cool can't wait for them! Always eager. ^_^
🖤🤘
React to warmen (feat alexi laiho) - somebodys watching me
Have you checked out Disturbed - Are you ready ? , cos I think you should :D
We plan on doing it this week...
Best metal bands have Greek name :-)
Just like AMORPHIS !!!
Greek name, but still from Finland! :)
Whenever I see this music video, it makes me feel the need to grab my beard trimmer, somehow.
But Tomi really has a great clean vocals and fantastic hard vocals, despite the uneven moustache. I just wish their music was more "prog"...
They make great catchy hit songs, but something is still lacking, for my taste. I feel like they are playing it safe with their music.
React to stratovarius - unbreakable!
I wish my son enjoyed the same music that I do. But sadly (for me) he likes c(RAP). Perhaps if he lived with me that may not have turned out that way
