    Thank you sir, my check engine light was on for about a year. I tried everything and could not remove it. After watching your video, and 10 minutes later the light is gone. Thank you so much, god bless. I have a 95' 960 model, thanks again sir.

    Got the codes cleared and too the car out for a spin. It died suddenly after about 1.5 miles. Tried the diagnostic tool again and All the test ports on the A side show 1-1-1. I tried to clean the sensor already and it did not fix the problem. Car stalled about 1/2 mile from home and would not start again so I had to have t towed back home.

    Hey Robert, thanks for the great video. I have used it to pull codes off my 1995 850 OBD-1 in the past. Right now when I use this technique I can only get codes from A7. when I plug into the other ports and hold the button for the same amount of time, it doesn't flash any code. No flashes at all for anything but A7, and I'm not able to reset the codes. On some of the other spots it dimly shows the red light when I plug it in, but on others, no light at all. I wondering if I need to replace anything in the plug system? Any thoughts for when it flashes for one but won't flash anything for the others? I'm pretty sure it has codes stuck in some other places that I've gotten codes in the past (like A3), and that's stopping me from resetting.

If we get the "check engine" message how we know what port we need to start working with? Do we need to buy a special tool? and if this is the case what's the name of it? Have you ever encountered an intermittent abs code 0074 hydraulic valves faulty signal? My abs sometimes intermittently kicks in under light braking and I've had the abs and stability light come on randomly for a few seconds after 50mph. I know it's a long shot but could it have anything to do with worn tyres on the front and decent ones on the rear being an all wheel drive?

      Not sure what year model your car is, however, for most of them, if the AWD system is still installed on the vehicle, it is critical to keep all 4 of the tires the same wear ratio/condition. If you fail to do that, you can destroy the AWD system pretty quick.

    • @zultan824
      @zultan824 7 месяцев назад

      @@RobertDIY it's a 1999 v70 xc. At first I thought it was just a glitch with cold weather as the lights only stay on a few seconds then go off and only seems to be after 50mph. I put the tyre pressures slightly higher in the front to compensate a bit and last I tried the lights didn't come on but the abs did kick in randomly under light braking. It's booked in to change the tyres soon so will see if it makes any difference but I doubt it

    Robert, if I'm correct that this applies to the 960 as well, what I just discovered trying to check transmission codes on my 1993 960 (OBD1) is that instructions I find online say to plug the test lead into hole #1 to run this test. Problem is: when I check the OBD unit, hole #1 has no wires going to it. The harness that feeds the OBD unit A (there are two) only has wires going to 4 of the 8 holes, by design. And hole #1 is not one of them. Your thoughts? Thank you!

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  3 года назад

      It may have an internal link. Does anything blink when you jump that hole? If not, you'll need to check a manual to see which port will give you transmission codes.

    • @2Small2Fail
      @2Small2Fail 3 года назад

      @@RobertDIY Nothing blinks, which was my first clue something wasn't right. At the very least it should give me a 1-1-1 reading. That's why I started looking at the OBD unit itself and discovered there is no wire to the #1 port. I'm following instructions for the pre-'96 960s with the OBD1. The instructions are the same here: www.volvotips.com/index.php/940-960/volvo-960-service-repair-manual/volvo-960-automatic-transmission-diagnosis-service-manual/ AND here: www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/TransmissionAutoAW30.html#OnBoardDiagnostiCodesforAW3040SeriesAutomaticTransmissions No matter, I just thought you might have run across this particular peculiarity and have a thought on it. I was hoping to make some progress this weekend, but I can just ask my Volvo mechanic on Monday. I appreciate the quick response.

    So are there any other things needing to be done when replacing this ABS module? Our 1997 Volvo 850 has the same thing, though the ABS light will go off, it does come on occasionally. I bought the ABS with socket and will replace it, and wondered if you have to have any other information or software updated after this is reinstalled? Thanks for any help in this area.

    Hi,
    I've been able to drive these old Volvos for the past 5-6 years thanks in part to Roberts DIY.
    I have now encountered a problem which I wonder if any of the users here have a solution to:
    I need to reset the error codes that we see in this video.
    I reproduce the procedure after reading the codes, but nothing happens.
    I depress the button, the red light goes on - and stays on for the 10 seconds I depress it.
    Then I release the button, and the light goes off.
    But it does not light on again. Ever.
    I try to depress once more for ten seconds - but it has no effect. The lights on the dashboard is still there and the error codes remain in the system.
    I wonder what it might be?
    And I wonder if there's a solution to this problem?
    Anyone with a suggestion?

      No. I have tried, but I have not been able to see how I can reset the codes without using the method you have deviced in the video. On my previous 850 I could do it. But it doesn't work on this one.
      I can't keep driving it for more than a few weeks because I need to have it tested by the authorities every two years (here in Denmark) - and certified for road driving. And they will not certify it with the lamp on - even if the car does not pollute more than accepted according to the regulation.

      So basically my primary aim is to remove the light on the dashboard.
      I have changed the lambda unit.
      My error codes are:
      A2 - fuel injection:
      132: Battery voltage too low (I have a good new battery - can low voltage in some of the system cause the inability to reset codes?)
      143: Front knock sensor signal absent or fawlty
      A3 - ABS
      321: LH front wheel sensor intermittent signal at speed over 40
      141: Faulty brake pedal position sensor shorted to earth or supply
      144: Brake disks overheated (TRACKS code - and I don't have tracks)
      B2 - Cruise control
      122 - no speed signal (I have not gotten around to work on the cruise control).
      I get no readings from A6 which is the ignition system.
      Also it "rotates" the error codes as your video shows.

So I Did not have to reset that. However, I feel like the car still seem to run lean because the rpm seems to stay about 850 rpm. It does not run rich because the rpm isnt going above 1000 at idle. Could the idle air control valve be faulty? Does it ever need replacing or is this some other problem?

      Is it possible to diagnose or findout if this weird feeling I am getting is false? Since there is no lights on except ABS/Tracs, which means obd in the car wont give me codes on this cause. So can I check this forsure in any other way?
