John O we discovered a lot new about space and technology only in the last few years, so something could be different with our new discoveries. like we discovered a planet with two suns like tatooine while only a few yrs ago no one believed that was possible.
The PT vehicles look more practical that the OT ones. The AT-AT always seemed undergunned to me. The AT-TE have the guns I would expect a vehicle of that size to have. It also has 6 legs which makes it more stable in addition to them splaying outwards and being shorter which lowers it's center of gravity.
Seems like the one answer to all these problems is plasma. Ionized gas atoms. Twin ion engines? Plasma Windows in space, or barriers between atmosphere and vacuum? Plasma. Lightsabers? Plasma. Deflector shields? Plasma.
TWSTF 8 Windows in Star Wars are made out of Transparent Steel, a man-made material that has been made in real life as well. Recently a model airplane flew successfully under its own power by utilizing a single Ion Engine and magnetically charged wing tips. Theoretically speaking, a very strong EM field should be able to freeze a blade of hot plasma and create something similar to a lightsaber.
@@riddell26 Well there's certainly a lot of things that were already in Episodes I-VI that they never addressed. Bacta tanks, cloning, vibroweapons, jetpacks.
Not to mention that an EM field is ENTIRELY capable of holding a plasma beam at a certain length to make it so a lightsaber is possible (back in 2006, even as a kid, I believed a lightsaber was possible, and NOT with an ACTUAL laser).
thrasherfan96 that's the whole point that the tech isn't possible!! It's amazing how they bring things that are impossible to seem reality in another galaxy!!
Much of the technologies in Star Wars is explained in Michio Kaku’s show “Physics of the Impossible.” -Star Wars space fighter: “Destroy the Death Star” -Hyperdrive: “How to Explore the Universe” -Death Star (structure): “A New Solar System” -Darth Vader/cyborg: “Cyborg Army” and “How to Become a Superhero” (according to Kaku, Vader and Grievous would have combat equipment implemented into the cybernetics) -Lightsaber: “How to Build a Lightsaber” -Deflector shield: “How to Build a Force Field” -Death Star (super laser): “How to Blow Up a Planet” -Imperial walkers: “Shapeshifting Transformers” (according to Kaku, those huge walkers wouldn’t just be able to trample over their opponents, but also transform into different vehicles -Droids: “How to Build a Sci-Fi Robot” -Carbonite freezing: “Galactic Colonization” (skip to 13:24) Also, for repulsorlift, magnetic levitation can work on planets like Coruscant if the vehicle is made of a superconducting material (37:11 in “Prophets of Science Fiction George Lucas”)
2:03 depends on the position of the listener. If you’re in the fighter who is passing trough the explosion than the sound would be heard cause the explosion itself is a big bal of matter wich touches the metal of the fighter
I think that in a near future most of the tech in star wars will be real. A whole lot of star wars tech is already real, so why wouldn't more of it be real? In the end maybe all of it, most of it or more than it will be real.
I can't believe they went through the trouble of explaining tech in Star wars, but don't know about repulsors?!? That's how the starhips and starfighters are turning!!! They're using a gravity manipulating technology like the Landspeeder only in space. The landspeeder has turbine engines since its in atmosphere. This just makes it faster than repulsors alone. The X-wing has turbine engines for when its in atmosphere too. But in space they basically just push it and then the ship's repulsors turn and brake the ship. I hate when sci-fi fans pretend they're Star wars fans. X{D
Guys and gals stop complaining about every bloody single thing in this doc. Its no different than when they do a similar one for the technology seen in Star Trek film & TV shows and applying it to; "what if" it were real questions etc. Be glad something like Star Wars and Star Trek are that influential that they both inspire such documentaries to be made about their fictional stories and adventures. And then wonder about possible real world applications of its fictional and made-up components being realized for real etc.
Don't you think that the ancient peoples knew more about matter properties than we give them credit for? From way back then, they spoke of 'earth, water, air and fire'. That would be 'solid, liquid, gas and plasma' in modern scientific parlance.
All the star wars technology is possible as long we can come together be more Civilized as everyday passes we are getting closer to where we want to be as for light sabers i hope alot sooner than later , like they said thanks to George Lucas he gave us the blue prints to these new technology i believe all of this will be very possible very soon.....
The problem that the tech of Star Wars is the same as magic in the Fantasy books, you don't have to understand it how it works. That's why SW is not a Sci-Fi, but a Fantasy in Space movie, that these people seems to not know!
Dammit, you're not even trying to understand how lightsabers work. No wonder you can't recreate it without a kyber chrystal. This is basic science, guys.
if lightsabers 2 million degrees it would be *very fucking hot* planets like tatooine and utapau *surpised the jedi didnt die of a heat stroke before the order 66*

oh my god its not plasma plasma is to sensitive it has to be a form of chemical emensions together man i got a crazy new theory dang star wars is awesome!
But here's the thing about the death Star battle you got to remember what they were talking about at the very beginning of the battle like when wedge said look at the size of that thing and somebody said we're passing through their magnetic field hold tights which are deflectors on double front they're passing through some sort of force field that possibly gives them gravity remember what happened to Red leader he lost all his engines and he went down into the death Star that takes gravity so there had to be gravity closer to the death star's surface right when Darth Vader shot his last engine red leader crashed into the death Star if there was zero gravity he wouldn't do it he just drift off into space so I'm guessing when they got close enough to the death star to attack it they pass through a field of gravity like going through a an atmosphere on a planet
Just late last year a real crude lightsaber was created. Makes me wonder where we'll be 100 years from now.
Yeah a retractable plasma blade at over 2800c. Idk If it's going to take 100 years for something considerably better.
@@aninternetuser4306right now, the equipment needed takes up huge amounts of space, but then again, so did computers a long time ago.

Commander Nahdonnis Praji I saw this on Disney XD

I watched this all the time.
I was probably stoned
I want a updated version of this documentary. After all it's 10 years old.
You want a new one? Go make your own episode and stop expecting someone to do it for you. Lazy fuck.
PickleRick. Star Wars is 40 years old so what difference will it make to have a newer documentary?
John O we discovered a lot new about space and technology only in the last few years, so something could be different with our new discoveries. like we discovered a planet with two suns like tatooine while only a few yrs ago no one believed that was possible.
There's an upcoming documentary webseries called *Science and Star Wars* It's right here on RUclips. Search it.
Good idea!
this documentary is 15 years old. I would love to see the follow-up to see where we're at today. science and tech is so cool!
Yes I agree and I was 15 years old when this aired on History Channel back in 2007

*_[damn, after the Hacksmith's lightsaber, the force is starting to seem like the only impossible thing in star wars, if even that]_*
Has an older mentor figure told you to use the force at a time where you were struggling to accomplish a difficult task? You just haven't tried!
Thanks to george lucus we are able to push science forward for the future of the human race.
Lol you really believe that
My uncle taped this on VHS for me

Replicas, Models, Prop Designs, Sketches, Copies, are the best we are going to get from these amazing creative universe imaginations

That's because Star Wars is science fiction so naturally Sci-Fi fans would like it.
The engines have several uses such as go to hyperspace. Which is why some ships have scoops even though theyre always in space
