    I was so relieved when all went well and you got video output since you put it completely back together before testing it. *whew* Nailbiter! lol

      Yeah. Same here. First one I've done. Don't really fancy doing another unless I had to! I might need a more powerful rework station as I edited out about 25 mins of trying to get the bloody thing off.

    Did you use the same t9 screwdriver for all screws in box??

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  Год назад

      I think I did, but they screws may actually be T10 but I thought the T10 I had was a little tough to get into the screws. The T9 I used was a slight bit loose. I just did a quick search and they say they are a T8? so I'm a bit confused over that now, as the T9 I had was slightly loose!

    What temp should my soldering iron be and how long in minutes do u think the heating of the old HDMI took

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  Год назад +2

      If you mean hot air station I had mine at 450c and in real time I was heating it for about 20 minutes! I'd highly recommend getting some low melt solder to aid removal!

      I meant soldering iron to add the low melt solder should that be 450 as well? My heat gun doesn't have a temp control 😔

      About 250 or so, just take your time.. dont pull the old connector it should literally drop off..

    How much would this cost to repair? Mines is broken just like this

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  Год назад

      I'm not sure how much a repair shop or such would charge. When I fixed this one, the socket cost me about £5, and the rest was just my time. It was a bit of a job! It look literally ages to get the socket hot enough to remove it without damaging the tracks, and that was even using low melt solder.

      @@BuyitFixit thanks for the reply! I went to a place today, they wanted two hundred & fifty American dollars. I didn't think it was worth it so I'm stuck with a broken useless x box now lol

      @@A.G.1.5000 That kinda sucks. I know a RUclips channel in the states called "NorthRidgeFix" and they take items in to repair, they fix xbox series x's but I'm not sure on the cost.. might be worth a try?

      @@A.G.1.5000 they sound insane to be charging that price, I know its a difficult job and you have to be careful but when its going past 50% of the price of a retail Xbox its a bit daft.

    At 8:09 where is the metal plate?

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  Год назад +1

      I wondered that too! as I saw one on another teardown video. I guess they must have decided it was not needed for later models or perhaps it's region specific? The US might have more strict rules with RF emissions than the UK? It would definitely cost less to manufacture without it.

    I love how Microsoft will not cover this under warranty even though it is a widely reported issue that has never been an issue with any of their consoles in the past.

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  Год назад +1

      I think it would probably come under user damage. Such as in this case where his young child moved the xbox without unplugging the cable. Unlike the xbox headset knobs which just come off due to bad design (had to repair mine in another video).

  • @ejg34
    @ejg34 Год назад +1

    Clearly this is a issue that Microsoft needs to address. Looks like mine will be collecting dust, game pass will be canceled, and the PS5 will be getting much more attention

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  Год назад +1

      This happens on the PS5 too, I'd say it's more user damage than a Microsoft problem.

    • @ejg34
      @ejg34 Год назад +1

      @@BuyitFixit I have both and my PS5 has yet to experience this problem and I move that around more than my Xbox. So in my thinking maybe , just maybe, Sony makes a superior product.

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  Год назад

      @@ejg34 I don't think either Sony or Microsoft manufacture the HDMI connectors. But it could be that one make is slightly better than the other. I've replaced one on a PS4 before, not looked at a PS5 yet..
