When they showed the Iowa Hawkeyes (the end zone said Hawkeyes in Black and Gold), the fans are waving to the childrens hospital right outside the stadium after the first quarter. Its an aswesome tradition that has been going on for a few years.
As an Ohio State football fan, I think Iowa has the best tradition in all of sports with that (waving to the kids in the hospital). It is truly awesome!
The buckeye is Ohio's Official State tree and the citizens are known as Buckeyes. The Ohio State University's intercollegiate sports teams are also called the Buckeyes.
One of only 3 Div 1 schools with Trees(seed of a Tree) as Nicknames: Ohio State University Buckeyes Stanford Cardinal (named after Redwood) Indiana State Sycamores
@@andrewduncan2258 Huh? You've never heard us referred to as Buckeyes? I mean, yes we're officially Ohioans but like Oklahomans are also called 'Sooners' and Nebraskans are 'Cornhuskers,' the residents of most States are also known by vernacular nicknames. You've really never heard that? Wow. How long did you say you've lived here? Oh wait... you never claimed to be from Ohio, just that you think you know better.
@@andrewduncan2258 I was born 13 miles from the geographical center of Ohio in 1965, and I have spent practically my entire life here. I'm a Buckeye. Please stop spouting off about something about which you know absolutely nothing.
I agree. My entire 41 years in Ohio and I have never head of anyone being referred to as Buckeyes outside of those affiliated with the University. I'm in Toledo so maybe its a Columbus thing. Also Go Blue!
If you want to experience something amazing... be about 5 - 10 blocks away (maybe more) from one of these open air stadiums when everyone is singing and you can clearly hear the "choir" of voices. It is absolutely nuts how those voices will carry and it's like experiencing something you would read about in the Bible. All of those voices singing together in unison and the sound just fills the skies. It really is something.
I was in Denver when a Broncos game was going on. We were nowhere near the stadium, couldn’t even see it or anything but we could hear the crowd. I guess the thin air helps, but still…..
At around 7:23 you are watching The Chop of Florida State University. And this an away game. At the home game its on another level. The Florida State stadium in Tallahasse seats 80,000. Every time. I went when I was student it was packed to capacity. Our team comes out lead by chief Osceola in decked out in full battle dress and feathered headgear riding on a white hourse. Gave me goosebumps every time. Nothing comes close to what I saw growing up in Wales. And I had been to Cardiff stadium, Twickenham and Wembley.
I'm born and raised in West Virginia. When whole stadium sings " Take me home country roads" it enough to give you chills after wins. Then set all couches in Morgantown on fire lmao.
at 7:49 is Nebraska Cornhuskers. That day was emotional the young boys you saw come out of the tunnel with the team were the nephews of the Nebraska punter Sam Foltz who lost his life in a car accident in the off season
USA doesn’t mess around with sports. Even in High School games are packed to the brim. You should look up some Indy 500 videos. Anywhere from 30-60k on average at these college games, Indianapolis Motor Speedway usually has around 300,000-450,000 people. Add in upside down fighter jets going 240mph and it’s a freakin party
You guys should take a look at the marching band culture at some of the Historically Black Colleges with the majorettes dancing and all of that. It’s amazing in person and on video
The stadium in red where everyone is jumping is camp Randal wisconsin. "Jump Around" is played every 4th quarter. The stadium has 10 feet of concrete to support the jumping and the shaking can be felt miles away.
the first video is at Penn State in Pennsylvania. Its called the "White Out". The teams colors are blue and white and for big games they ask everyone to wear white in a way to support the team. I have been to games where there were over 110,000 people in the stands. Penn State's stadium is one of the largest on the North American continent. Only Michigan is bigger I believe. Love your videos..thank you!
I attended Oregon state university so I am a beaver 🦫 but yea the only schools on the west coast that rivals the sec/big 10/big 12 and acc is unversity of Oregon
It's more than a hobby, a lot of the players have a full scholarship for collage/university to play football. Also, some of the really good players can get drafted into the NFL or major league football right after college.
Hi guys. Ohio State university's team name is the Buckeyes. There is a very delicious sweet treat (made popular I think in Ohio) called buckeyes. They are a peanut butter mixture covered in chocolate. They look like the nut or fruit of the buckeye tree (or maybe plant)??There are a lot of cool traditions in college football. Several years ago a childrens hospital was built just outside of the stadium where The Iowa Hawkeyes play. At their home games the entire crowd faces the hospital at the end of the 1st quarter and waves to the kids in the hospital. College games are just electrifying.
Just a quick note, regarding your confusion around college names, most of the BIG college teams are from state schools. So the college will be "University of [state]". So "University of Nebraska" would be the college name and the team would be Nebraska Cornhuskers (team would be state/college + mascot) . Same with most other big college teams like Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas Longhorns, Michigan Wolverines, etc.
but it's not U of Nebraska...it's name (it's unusual) is Nebraska University....of all the schools to choose you chose the one that breaks the rule LOL
@@miamidolphinsfan It's definitely called the University of Nebraska. They do use the abbreviation NU for athletics, and have some older helmets that had the NU logo on them, but the official name is the University of Nebraska.
College games like this are pretty much every weekend during football season, especially at big named schools. There will be “tailgate parties” in the parking lots before the games. The crowd will be mostly the college kids and alumni from the 2 schools playing, though anyone can go and plenty of people do. The atmosphere is electric! The team spirit is huge and gets amped-up on just the energy level of the crowd. College/University are basically the same thing. If you go, go early and tailgate. The band, the cheerleaders, the mascots… there is just so much to take in!
I have heard of so many people where I live (LSU territory) make sure to plan events (weddings, birthdays, you name it) on days that games are not being played. That’s how devoted or downright crazy about their team some fans can be.
And now stadiums like The University of Alabama has lights that dim, blink, and change colors to add to the mood. It seats 101,000 fans. Also, fans do not necessarily go to the school. None of my family went to Bama, but I grew up supporting them and continued to support them. They are like pro teams. The Rammer Jammer song they were singing at the end always makes me smile. Roll Tide!
Man I love my country. 💯💯💯 Football season. The feeling you get when you run out of a tunnel with 10's of thousands of fans screaming is absolutely unreal. Ain't nothing like it. I miss college ball so bad. Thanks for sharing! Your Tongan friend from the States. ✊🏾
The Buckeyes are the mascot/team name for Ohio State. It's the name of a prominant tree (it's Ohio's state tree). We love to name things after trees out here, it's even the name of one of the Phoenix suburbs. You've also got teams with names like Bucks, Hawkeyes and other similar teams named after animals or trees
There are so many colleges missing from this video. Tennessee, Clemson, Georgia, Duke, Mississippi. Look up SEC football. The energy and excitement will blow you away. There are usually 4 generations at these college games, Grandparents, parents, students and their little sibs. So much fun.
You havent experienced college football atmosphere until you go the Neyland Stadium in Knoxville TN. the team has been average for the last few years and still sellout the stadium at 102,455. thats a crazy atmosphere.
There may be various towns/schools that use "Buckeye" in their name in Ohio, and a "buckeye" is a slang term to refer to a person from Ohio. The nickname of the teams that play for The Ohio State University is the Buckeyes, which is what you saw. Alumni are referred to as this as well. The O-H-I-O chant starts in the south end zone (where the camera is) and goes around east, north, & west quadrants.
There is a reason they call the band TBDBITL (The Best Damn Band in the Land)! Their halftime shows are amazing, and yes, “dotting the i” during Script Ohio is an honor for Senior sousaphone players.
If you want to visit and go the a college game, remember it is a fall sport. Usually starts around September thru end of year. It can also be a little costly depending on seats.
If you want seats to a big college game like this, tickets with a good view range from difficult to impossible to get, although the “nosebleed” upper section tickets should still be accessible. Personally I think college sports crowd trumps the proteam crowd, but I do live in UK Wildcats land. UK here is “University of Kentucky” not United Kingdom. I think you’d have a better chance getting good tickets in a city that has proteams as well as college teams, because more of them probably go to progames than college games. when a state only has a college team (like Kentucky or Virginia) about every single person in that state is looking for NCAA college sports tickets
speaking of marching bands, the band FLEETWOOD MAC, has a song called TUSK, they used the USC TROJAN MARCHING BAND ( University of Southern California) to record the song and the video has the marching band in it as well, I know it's on RUclips and it's quite a cool song.👍
Tailgating before the game is the real party atmosphere, and it starts early on Saturday mornings before the games which kickoff anywhere between noon and 8 PM. When you go to a game, you basically make a day or even a weekend out of it depending on how far away you've had to travel for the game. For the typical college kid it's wake up on Saturday morning at whatever time your hangover allows, trudge out to the stadium to tailgate, watch the game, have dinner, and then typical Saturday night college parties. The universities with the large stadiums are cities unto themselves with campuses miles across, hundreds of buildings, and 40,000+ kids living there. Needless to say 4 years at one of these universities is a hell of a good time.
Quick Correction: The band in the stands is the "Pep Band". Sometimes there's crossover, but at bigger schools, the pep band and the marching band are separate bands.
Not even my favorite College Team, but I don't know what can beat the vibe with the Tamahalk Chop of the Florida State Seminoles.. The crowd + the band is just insane!
Its not just people who go to the school and their friends. These are big events for everyone in State and region. I'm from Ohio and am a huge Ohio State fan. Love these videos! Keep up the good work.
Nickname Death Valley at Clemson. 82,500 STRONG! Always listed as one of the toughest places to play. LONGEST HOME WINNING STREAK IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL! Clemson is a small town of 18,300 that becomes the 3rd Largest City in SC on GameDay. The Stadium (War Memorial Stadium and Frank Howard Field) is 1/3rd in the Ground and turns Death Valley into one huge amplifier.
You should do a reaction to the Texas A&M University marching band, known as the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. They are the largest military style band in the world. Also, if you were ever able to come to the US to actually attend a college football game, a Texas A&M game in College Station, Texas, would be a very good choice. You'll love the Texas hospitality here.
The largest college stadium is university of Michigans big house. Over 107000 seats. If you want to go to a college game, Michigan vs Ohio state is the oldest fiercest rivalry there is. They even made an HBO documentary about it.
And alternates between the largest and third largest stadiums in the continent. Just guessing, but there’s probably never been less than a sellout for the last 100 years.
At Ohio State v Michigan, is a big football rivalry, When in Ohio they'll sing "I Don't Give A Damn For The Whole State of Michigan" University Ohio State mascot is the Buckeye.
That’s what Penn State fans think. I go to Auburn and grew up an Auburn fan. Went to the Auburn Penn State game. Honestly it was overhyped the white out game wasn’t all that great and didn’t get all that loud. Jordan-Hare can get a lot louder then Penn States stadium
I would love to attend a Penn State White Out game. Of course there’s a lot to live up to because I have attended LSU games my whole life. There’s nothing like a Saturday Night in Death Valley, but I’d definitely be willing to check out the B1G!!!!
Buckeyes is the mascot. Every school from elementary to university has a mascot. Ohio State Buckeyes. Buckeyes are something the state may be famous for. Many schools use animal names or something to do with state heritage. My school, The University of Texas Longhorns. Longhorns are bulls that are somewhat unique to Texas.
The way the US reacts to amateur sports is one thing. We may be outliers reacting to high school & college sports. The way you talk, we are outliers in primary school sports. But I'm more curious why there is such a lack of it in the UK. Not crazy like in the the US, but such a total lack of it. Wouldn't the teams feel better if family showed up at least? Isn't there some sort of comradery? Some esprit de corps that would make the student body want to show up?
@Hardtack & Beans, One would think there would be community and school pride in the U.K. , I have to wonder is that country so old all of that has gone away? Would love some feedback from our Gracious and respected hosts on the matter
@Jason Mistretta Interesting. We brought chairs to the kid's soccer games & had a couple of hundred family (both sides) members sometimes. But I guess if they just see it as exercise that would explain a lot.
@Jason Mistretta Yeah but there’s likely no seating/stadiums because there’s no comradely/support for the teams… you get what I mean? Essentially I’m saying that no seating/stadiums would seem to be a symptom of there being little to no support/school pride for teams… rather than it being the causation as to why. lol Then again I know nothing about ut
@Jason Mistretti, Of course no one is going to want to stand in one place for 3 or four hours at a time if they have no seats to sit in, But in all honesty doesn't the maintenance and upkeep of The Bleachers and field to which games are played fall into the realm of the whole pride angle? I personally have only seen 3 foreign countries in my lifetime( wish I could afford to see more), but American schools and Colleges do raise money for the upkeep of playing venues, and equipment, sales of food, Tickets some federal funding so on and so forth, I wish to thank you for sharing what you know and have experienced with us 🤗
@@SolTerran5050 Interested parties (family & friends) do stand for hours in the US. Most times I would bring a folding chair. And in miserable conditions sometimes. I know a stadium is a money making machine in the US. I have been to many foreign countries but I wasn't there to see the sports. But I do know they go crazy over their football. The chants they have are frankly better than the US version & some are very funny. So I know some in the UK are sports crazy. But the fall-off in interest beyond professional sports just surprises me I guess.
I'm an OSU alum. It's THE Ohio State University. The only school with THE in it's name! Buckeye is our mascot. Brutus Buckeye to be exact. The high school you are referring to is in Medina, Ohio and their mascot is a Buck, a male deer. The university is in Columbus.
This was Ohio State Buckeyes. The stadium says 102,000 capacity but the attendance record is 110,045!!!! most of what you were watching was before the games even start. It can get louder during the game.
There’s nothing better than a college football Saturday in the South. It’s not just a game but a cultural event and we use the whole week to build up to it. We have entire tv networks dedicated to it. University athletic departments put out hype videos to pump you up for it. If you don’t have tickets to the game you homegate (tailgating at home and having friends over to watch) or go to bars that are set up for fans of your team. I didn’t see my school in there, my beloved University of Georgia Bulldogs (often referred to as the Dawgs) but 4th Quarter, hands up, lights on, band playing Superman is what heaven will feel like. Who’s that coming down the track? A mean machine in Red & Black! Go DAWGS!
Look into 2015 Ohio State vs Alabama. It's my favorite American Football game ever. It had drama, big story lines, and crazy circumstances. A ton of future NFL players. Alabama was heavily favored. The game had trick plays, amazing turnovers, and a ton of phenomenal plays. The game featured an amazing comeback led by the back up of a back up.
That marching band is the LSU Fighting’s Tigers Golden Band From Tigerland..Louisiana (southern US). This is Death Valley..the home stadium for Louisiana State University..what they are changing is NSFW and that chant has cost the school many thousands of dollars in fines to FCC for being sung and heard during televised games..but it’s my home college team and there’s nothing in the world like being in a stadium with 110,000 screaming fans for a Saturday night home game! You gotta witness it in person to understand it! Thanks for reacting!
When I was in high school back in the '60s, most of the students attended, even starting in Jr. Hi/Middle School. Actually, kids can get their first exposure to team sports either in pre-school soccer, or in T-ball. Also, almost, if not all, of the sports at the High School level across the country have statewide playoffs for football/soccer, basketball, and regionally maybe hockey up north, and wrestling in some states. In most to all states, these games are broadcast statewide. Many parents of the kids playing would attend nearly all to 100% of the games as well. Yeah, we're sports nuts here, to the point that it's become a big part of the American culture. I remember recently seeing someone else review this, and in the comments, someone pointed out that the little boy with the Nebraska players was representing his brother who was on the team, but had recently died. Actually, it was Ohio State at around the 9 min. mark, not that I'm such a rabid fan, but I noticed that at the far end of the field it said Ohio State, and partly obscured by the crowd at the near end was Buckeyes--the team's name/mascot. Millie's friend no doubt went to a high school by that name in Columbus--the home city for Ohio State.
The Ohio State Univeristy ( The Buckeyes) Aesculus glabra, commonly known as Ohio buckeye, is a species of tree in the soapberry family native to North America. Its natural range is primarily in the Midwestern and lower Great Plains regions of the United States, extending southeast into the geological Black Belt of Alabama and Mississippi.
Go Hokies! I’m not that into sports, but there is truly nothing like going to a football game (and the entire day experience of tailgating and whatnot). The energy and atmosphere of the stadium, and even the entire town, is unbeaten,
The Ohio Buckeye is the official state tree of Ohio and the nut from the tree is also called a Buckeye. Thus, in Ohio the term Buckeye is a big thing and is the mascot for many schools in Ohio. BTW yes every state in the U.S has an official: tree, bird, animal, fish, flower, flag, motto, constitution, etc. Crazy stuff
I would so love to take you guys to a big time college football game. I am from Alabama and the kind of atmosphere at a huge rivalry game like Auburn vs Alabama has to be seen to be believed. People start showing up for tailgating the day before the game. Thousands of people in RV's, campers, under tarpaulins or just sitting on blankets on the grass. All of them grilling every type of meat imaginable with all the necessary side dishes as well. And of course enjoying their favorite shall we say "beverages". LOL! We are talking anywhere from 87 to 100 thousand people sprawled across the campus. The mood is just electric. If you could make it known that you were from England and this was your first college football game the two of you would be waved over to so many tailgate parties and given so much food and shall we say "beverages" that you might not be able to waddle up to your seats at game time. And once inside the stadium you are just overwhelmed with a wall of sound and colors. Marching bands playing, fly overs by military jets, videos and music being played on the jumbotron. And then of course there's the game itself. Video clips do not do it justice. It really is a spectacle that has be seen in person.
It's The Ohio State university, and the team name is Buckeyes. That Buckeye high school would be 14-18 year olds with probably less than a thousand students. The Ohio State university is for 18-23 year olds for the most part and has an enrollment of 67,000. Just a slight difference lol
I am from New Jersey, you two are from Jersey! We're practically cousins!! Much support from the New side of the Jersey world! I gadda come out to Olde Jersey and lift weights and eat Italian food with you two!
The Ohio State team that you were talking about is the college but the one your friend has gone to if it was a high school then it could be the Buckeye Career Center which is possible or could be another High School that has a similar name
Our military academies have football programs as well. I live in Colorado, and not far from Colorado Springs, home of the United States Air Force Academy. Their mascot is the Falcons and I'd at the foot of the Rampart Mountains, most notably for Pike's Peak. The pregame show is amazing especially with jets flying over, and a paratrooper lands down on the field. The nickname for Falcon Stadium is Thin Air as it sits at an elevation of 6,020 ft above sea level
5:04 the building you see there in the top right of the screen is Iowa's children's hospital. It was purposely built so that the kids in the children's hospital could watch the game. At the end of the first quarter, all of the fans wave to the kids in the hospital and they wave back. My school(Michigan State) is not a direct rival of Iowa...but we have played each other in a lot of intense and important games, especially over the last 15 years or so, but I absolutely love that Iowa decided to do this. Its fairly new, but its quickly become one of my favorite traditions in college sports. Great job Iowa.
I have been to one BIG game (Florida State vs Alabama) and it was insane...Unfortunately, being that I have severe social anxiety, I had to leave shortly after it started. I have always wanted to be able to experience and enjoy these types of events. My partner is a hardcore FSU fan, so I tried. It's great to watch the joy and enthusiasm of the people, though. If anyone else out there suffers from social anxiety, I understand and sympathize. It's hell.
I went to Penn State in the 80's - the first stadium where everyone was wearing white is ours. The "whiteout" didn't exist when I went to school there, but it is incredible. What is even more impressive is the tailgating that happens before the games. For a mile plus in every direction thousands of cars all hosting parties. On Football Saturdays in the Fall, the local population went from a sleepy town (it's a lot bigger now) to the third most populous city in Pennsylvania, trailing only Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
After just quickly Googling it, here are the top 10 biggest college football venues: #1 University of Michigan 107,601, #2 Penn State 106,572, #3 Ohio State University 102,780, #4 Texas A&M 102,733, University of Tennessee 102,455, #5 LSU 102,321, #6 University of Texas 100,119, #7 University of Alabama 100,077, #8 University of Georgia 92,746, #9 Cotton Bowl, Dallas Texas(site of University of Texas vs University of Oklahoma game is) 92,100, and #10 UCLA 88,565. And also Wembley Stadium is 90k. What your talking about is more like high school(sports not football, high school baseball, or basketball) or even 'travel' teams(more so baseball) where only family and friends on a occasion would come. Many schools use the same 'mascot' name like Eagles, Buckeyes, Tigers etc. through the different collegiate levels and all the way to high school and middle school but they aren't affiliated with any collegiate team or school. Also has someone else said, definitely check out some video of Indy 500 crowds or even NASCAR crowds at Talladega, Daytona 500, or Bristol night race in the early 2000s.
Nebraska has some very emotional tunnel walks for 9/11. The first game after the attack was Nebraska and instead of the players walking, they had first responders walk. Did something similar on the 20 yr anniversary. They also made a tribute to player Sam Foltz who was a punter who died in an automobile accident at the beginning of the fourth quarter of a game leaving a space for him in the formation
I'm late to watching this video but one great game to go see in the south is the Florida vs Georgia game, also known as the world's largest outdoor cocktail party. It's played on neutral ground in Jacksonville Florida. It's a 50/50 fan base half wearing orange & blue. The other black & red. It's a great atmosphere inside the stadium as well as out. Most power 5 football universities have great atmosphere but all I can say is SEC!!! 😉
This Is the start to every college kids Saturday….(well some have Kegs of beer and breakfast traditions before the game kickoffs)….but The Party starts with the Game and Goes on all night after in every frat house, sorority, or House Parties all around campus
If and when you review marching bands, you should start with a half time show from the Ohio State Marching Band also known as The Best Damn Band In The Land (TBDBITL). You will not be disappointed.
That first one was Penn State at University Park/Happy Valley/State College. If you've ever wanted to hear 110,000 fans completely silent, go up 14-0 on the Nittany Lions. It's the main reason they started with the White Out games. Golf galleries are louder.
Their is a lot of schools here in Ohio that use the Buckeye name it's our state tree. We even had a department store named after it. It was called Buckeye Mart.
College football here is HUGE and we ALL take it VERY seriously. The stadiums are not filled with "parents and friends" - they are filled with fans from all over the states that are playing. We (fans) travel to other states to see our teams play, and WIN! I'm what's known as a Hokie, meaning I am a die-hard Virginia Tech fan. I could care less about pro ball (NFL) anymore... they have no heart and they are all driven by money and celebrity. If you want to see some REAL football-spirit when you come here, go to a game and FEEL the excitement! At the 5:40 mark of this video you can see VT Hokies. Our home field (Lane Stadium) holds over 65,000 fans, and many are sold out if another great team is playing against us. Many tailgaters watch in live on TV & iPads (etc) from the parking lot if they didn't get tickets... but they are out there eating GOOD from their barbeque grills and drinking and cheering and having a great time.
Collage games actually probably have a bigger fan turnout rate than national league teams. Mostly due to the fact that its close to where you are, and you feel ownership over it as being A) Student of the collage B) Alumni of the collage C) student of the opposing team going for a trip. Where as in national league not even every state gets a team and its usually located in The Big City of the state and can be prohibitively expensive to go to.
Depends entirely what part of the country you're in. The schools with big football programs get bigger attendance than the NFL teams nearby, but in other areas where the schools aren't really known for being big football schools the closest NFL team gets bigger attendance.
@@millie0804 Also a "buckeye" is a nut that is black with a light brown spot on one side. In Ohio, a there is a delicious candy named after the buckeye that is a ball of chocolate with peanut butter in the center. It looks like the nut. They are wonderful! I don't think it would ship very well or I'd send you some!
I can't say for sure, but to my knowledge, when people are referring to the Buckeyes in sport, they mean Ohio State University. And just a little clarification (not sure if you were even confused), but Ohio is very much a northern state. It borders Canada.
@@shawnmcx482 It absolutely does border it. It's one of thirteen states that do. I never said a "land" border specifically. For clarification, I'm a native Ohioan. Who's driven to Canada. Also, Midwestern is a regional term, and has nothing to do with a state being "northern". Generally, states above the Mason-Dixon line are considered northern. (It's also technically a Great Lake state, not a Midwestern state, despite people referring to it as such).
Yay. It showed my local college team here in Columbia, South Carolina. They are the Carolina Gamecocks of the University of South Carolina. Our stadium is the Williams Brice Stadium.
Y'all come to Tennessee and tailgate with the best fans in the world. Tennessee Volunteers, Go Vols 🥃🤪👀📢😵✌️🤘Its in Knoxville TN the University of Tennessee, UT in the SEC Conference Gary from Tennessee
5:41 is my Alma mater, Virginia Tech! We jump to Enter Sandman, and we’re crazy loyal fans! At 62, I still jump when I’m at a game. It’s impossible to describe the feeling of being there.
Buckeye high school is actually a high school in Medina, Ohio about two hours from Ohio State University. As far as Im aware there is no other team in the country with the nickname "Buckeyes". The Buckeye is the official state tree of Ohio, and is synonymous with Ohio.
It is THE Ohio State University (OSU but don’t forget the ‘the’ with a long E.). Do not confuse it with Ohio University (OU)- this will trigger the VERY faithful fans lol. Here in Columbus most bleed scarlet and grey (the school colors). During home games tailgating outside of the stadium practically shuts down a large chunk of downtown. If we are playing ❌ichigan that increases tenfold as students and fans swarm the area and fill the bars. Brutus the Buckeye is our mascot named after our state tree. We are pretty much just as proud of the marching band as we are of the team.
At any college sporting event (football, basketball, whatever) the current students of the home Uni will be segregated from the rest of the crowd with their own official Student Section, since they get to attend for free. And the band will occupy a subsection of the Student Section (since they are students too, of course!) The rest of the crowd will consist of fans and alumni, and typically an unofficial section primarily consisting of away fans (although away fans do not HAVE to buy their tickets in the away fans section)
I love that the 1st on this video was PENN STATE. WHAT you are seeing here is WHITE OUT night. Everybody tries to wear white caregiver white pom Poms it is a amazing site to see...100k fans N the entire stadium is dressed in white!! There are so many great college football day crowd reactions. Each is unique to its team.
When they showed the Iowa Hawkeyes (the end zone said Hawkeyes in Black and Gold), the fans are waving to the childrens hospital right outside the stadium after the first quarter. Its an aswesome tradition that has been going on for a few years.
Even the visiting teams participate.
Its so amazing to see live.

I live two blocks from a football stadium and I hear it loud and clear. I also make a point of not driving anywhere those days
There are a lot more than 30-60k at these college games. The stadiums in the video are more like 70-110k.
@@TheMarkc614 The average college stadium is about 50-60k and 30 on the low end. Only the power conferences are gonna have multiple 60k+ stadiums
@@PhotonBread all the stadiums in the video were huge, Power 5 schools. Look up the size of the stadiums at Ohio State or Penn State or Alabama.
@@TheMarkc614 I’m well aware of the size of those schools. I simply said “on average at these” meaning college games in general
This is only in Texas other high schools have 100-500 at least
You guys should take a look at the marching band culture at some of the Historically Black Colleges with the majorettes dancing and all of that. It’s amazing in person and on video
One of my favorite movies:
“Drumline.”
WE ARE-PENN STATE!!! Go Lions!!!
It's something to see. It feels like the stadium is vibrating when the fans get into the game and start cheering and jumping around.
Buckeyes is a tree in Ohio that produces nuts.

There is nothing like going to a college football game. It's a whole day event and then you need the whole next day to recover.
The Buckeyes are the mascot/team name for Ohio State. It's the name of a prominant tree (it's Ohio's state tree).
And most of these scenes are from years ago, Nebraska has no where close now to what they show in the video.

I believe British people refer to buckeye nuts as "conkers." Go Bucks! Muck Fichigan!

A fun thing to point out is pretty much every student at a high school goes to watch high school American football games on Friday nights

Love that song and video!
That was LSU band they showed.. That is the full band..

Crazy stuff
But how many have a state rock song?
You need to show her a video of the college football tailgating parties.

You definitely need to react to TBDBINTL A.K.A. Ohio State Marching Band. You will not be disappointed. ❤️🔥👍😀

Roll Tide!!!
Come to a Nebraska football game. The atmosphere is absolutely insane. Such a loud crowd no matter the game.
Ohio state university buckeyes is the team name
Oooh thank you!
Fun story....the Nebraska team plays in Lincoln and the entire town shut down.
I can't say for sure, but to my knowledge, when people are referring to the Buckeyes in sport, they mean Ohio State University. And just a little clarification (not sure if you were even confused), but Ohio is very much a northern state. It borders Canada.
Midwestern, not northern. No, Ohio does not share a land border with Canada.
Tennessee Volunteers, Go Vols 🥃🤪👀📢😵✌️🤘Its in Knoxville TN the University of Tennessee, UT in the SEC Conference
Gary from Tennessee
And the band will occupy a subsection of the Student Section (since they are students too, of course!)
The rest of the crowd will consist of fans and alumni, and typically an unofficial section primarily consisting of away fans (although away fans do not HAVE to buy their tickets in the away fans section)
I’m glad y’all couldn’t understand what they where saying in the second clip lol
The "jump around" is done at the University of Wisconsin football games. The stadium shakes when the jump around is done.
Autumn in the US is glorious. I am not even from West Virginia but I cry when I hear that crowd sing Take Me Home Country Roads 🇺🇸
1000,000 seats at University of Michigan and University of Tennessee.
