    Do what I did on my first.....panic, then realize you signed up for this so......go inside and be very cheerful, act like you know what you're doing but tell anyone you talk to you're new, but not stupid. Your attitude and eagerness is very important, if you come off angry, lazy, inattentive it's going to be a long first load......chances are after the miles and all the confusion, you will find out you screwed up something, chase down all the demons and put them behind you. If your pay come up short or not all as in my case. Don't be an ass when you call payroll, they deal with asses all day long, you want act like it's your aunt or uncle and you're calling about not getting your $20 Christmas gift....mildly disappointed. Get names and times, relax. The next load will be easier, payroll will tell you to resubmit paperwork properly and now you are no longer a truck virgin. You'll find being cheerful and kind will grease the wheels, and those you encounter again, will treat you better than the angry guy sitting in corner who has his crumpled paperwork in hand sweating!! You may hate the people who call all the time but be polite! Those same people will look for you, and you'll be moving all the time. Not sitting and complaining in the parking lot! Trucker Brown is giving the logistics, but there is more to it.....don't be an ass!!!

    I really appreciate that you take the time to educate by sharing your experience and knowledge with us whether someone an old head or a rookie, such as myself. In the school training program that I graduated from for my class A, taught us literally nothing about how to do the adjustment of weight in the trailer, or how to put chains on, no practice doing logs, ect....I feel like I was just thrown into the cab, taught how to drive and 4 moves, 90, parallel right & left, of side and alley dock....not once did I get the 90 and only got to practice it one time. These schools, not all of them, teach the BARE essentials and kick ya ass out the door. Thank you again. Stay blessed TB🙏❤🙏

    Thanks for your videos. I'm looking into Prime transportation as a brand new driver and am slightly scared, but your videos have helped take away some of my fear. Wondering if you'd consider doing a video, if you haven't already, on newbie questions that don't often get asked? Questions like, when a company driver finishes and is able to go home for home time, how do they get to and from home to where they keep their trucks parked? Does the company pay for their transportation by bus/uber or is it a reimbursement thing? After all the training is finished, when you're released to hit the road on your own, what happens if you face a situation that wasn't covered in training or that you never thought to ask about? Just simple what if questions like that.. Can you also hold a CDL A, CDL B, and CDL C license with every type of special permit simultaneously (for those kind of people like me who wants to be able to drive and haul any and every type of load)? How about fueling, as a company driver (not an owner operator), how does refueling work? Do you have to pay and then be reimbursed in the next payday, or does the company give you fuel charge cards to cover it or something?

    • @TomBennett1
      @TomBennett1 5 лет назад

      They always should give you a company card for the gas if you drive for a company that is.

    • @TomBennett1
      @TomBennett1 5 лет назад

      Oh and the class A license covers every type of load B covers certain things then class C covers thing's under the B guide lines.

    I’m with prime too and that weight gauge on the trailers shouldn’t be trusted sometimes. On newer trailers it’s alright but on the older trailers that haven’t been serviced in years the gauge could be off by thousands of pounds.

    Interesting. You USA folks spend a lot of time shifting weight and pins. Mostly I see your tandems very far forward.
    Here in Québec at least, if my axles are shorter than 41 feet, I'm not legal.
    I only catscale to weigh what the shipper put on. I never rescale. I do rescale for fun sometimes. But when I'm back hauling, I put my axles back to 41 feet when I hit the Canadian border.

    Just sharing, with Dryvan Paper Roll Loads, I pick up with half fuel tank, sometimes at the 3/4 Mark but no more. I have my 5th wheel slid forward, my weights are usually right under 12, 33, and 33.... these paper rolls are wide and tall for those who have not seen. Same for compressed paper pallets. Even Copying / photo paper sold for office , home use. I carried 1 a few weeks back. Paper means Heavy.. EVEN Intravenous Bags- like a waterbed or tanker.....I'll maintain the same amt of fuel throughout the trip.
