Good job showing that load gauge. I have the same exact one in my truck. You're right on the money with that. I figured that on my own the higher the number, the more weight you have on your drives. The lower the number, the more weight on your trailer. I dont even drive for a mega carrier and my truck has a scale

Waddup Lo. Just peeped out their scale box last month before the holiday. I was picking up @ Tyson in Amarillo. Dropped a Navajo empty next to a Prime & i thought maybe i’ll check it out. Looks & seems very 2x helpful for your axle gross weights. Navajo Express can sure use these things for their trailers so that i no longer have to keep CATing it. Thanks for the helpful video Loshawn. Continue giving us helpful content & stay safe out there. Our paths might cross soon out on these roads somewhere. If so, i’ll hand you a Pepsi.✌️👍

Most otr companies have the drive bag gauge.
There's an couple things he left out.
    1) new freight liners and kw have 13,200 steer axel.
    2) if you use the weigh my truck app ( catscale). You can pull on scale and have your weight without pulling off scale.
    3) the reason for cat scale tickets is to cover your butt. They will pay for any over weight ticket, if there scale said you was good.

    • @TruckingwithLoshawnParks
      @TruckingwithLoshawnParks  5 лет назад

Aaron Hartmann ok...sure, but I’m talking about the right weigh scale system and having it on the trailer. Didn’t really have too much to do with the CAT scale at all other than going to the truck stop to be weigh. And this is a freightliner 2016. So yeah...

Just putting it out there for people who don't have an nice trailer set up like you do.
I myself didn't know about the axel weight till I jumped in an newer truck. In an 12500 or 12000 axel there is no way to fill up tanks to full. The front position would put them over steer almost every time depending on fuel level.

Most of your dry Vans are 250# hole there close together most ur reefer are 350# hole if it's enuff space between the holes where it could be another hole there more then likely 350 if it's enuff space for 2 holes in between it's more then likely 500# hole...give or take that's a formula I bn using for 20plus years....it's pretty close when u check it with a scale. Also depends on how freight is inside trailer.

Great video! Thanks for the shout-out. We are always available for questions. The gauges with the color band like that are specially made for the Hendrickson Intraax / Vantraax HKANT-40K and ULTRAA-K tandem suspension. Out of the box, before calibration, the calibration should be very close (within 1,000 pounds), as they are made to Hendrickson's specs for air pressure vs weight. Only a slight adjustment (if any) should be needed for them to be calibrated for each individual trailer. As you can see at 5:57 in this video, the calibration screw's flats should be roughly horizontal, if they are not, it could be an indication that someone has tampered with the calibration significantly.

(California) I was surprised they didn't make me scale it they trusted the trailer scale. I also scaled a truck just to see and the trailer was calibrated a little heavy witch is fine with me I was tight at 34k and cat scale said 33400

Which start on 5th hole, 6th hole, 7th hole , 8th hole fuk sometmes 9th hole just keep little bet weight off the drive axles knowing your trk by the steering axles best to if steering be to hard to turn over weight otherwise being safe first weight scale on none sure of things. Sorry bro but I don’t trust that trailer weight cause we don’t know when it was calibrated.
My technique that I use it’s
Truck and trailer with #s 16,17,18,19 emptys but full of fuel it’s approximately 34,000lbs.
Truck with trailers 15,14 #s emptys full of fuel approximately 34,500lbs.
So that trailer that you have on this video and my truck will be 34,000+bol weight=total gross-steer 12,000-drive gauge=tandems weight.
    Each hole approximately 400lbs.
44,000 lbs and over on BOL most of the time I. scale it
But definitely saves me $$ my technique from not scaling everytime.
Again every truck its a different weight according to the personal things that we have . Again good video bro. Stay safe.

This is not a good idea. When was the last time it was calibrated? Do you trust the person who calibrated it? You don't even know who that was. How often does the manufacturer say they should be calibrated? Was it calibrated properly and as directed by the manufacturer? You dont know.
I'd venture to say 90% of the trlrs at Prime haven't been calibrated. So trusting those gauges is not a good idea. PRIME DOES NOT CALIBRATE THOSE SYSTEMS. It's up to the drivers to do it when the trlrs are loaded. And Prime isn't gonna pay your ticket. Making sure the axle weights are within legal limits is the drivers responsibility.
A cat scale ticket cost $11.50 and is a tax write off. Compare that to what it would cost at a DOT scale to have a heavy tow trk come out to pull all the pallets to the rear of the trlr, a forklift to take the pallets off the trlr and then put them back on and do that as many times as necessary until your axle weighs are legal.
    Then there's the ticket.
Then theres the lost time driving and all that time at the scale house on duty that you burnt up.
Hum, I'll pay the $11.50 for loads that weigh over 37000 lbs and happily go motoring down the highways knowing I just spent $11.50 and it's not gonna bite me in the ass and cost me possibly $1000 or more that 15 minutes of my time, and less money then it cost for dinner in a truck stop for a scale ticket.
Yes weigh right is a good system, if you trust the person that calibrated it, or you trust it is correct straight out of the box.
    I'll keep spending the $11.50.
And yes, DOT can make you stay at the scale until this type of issue is corrected.

entertainme099 I can only speak on what I have experienced. And my other trucks follow the same thing and none of us have gotten any overweigh tickets thus far. Knock on wood. Not saying y’all are incorrect on what y’all are saying at all, but maybe just maybe I have been getting lucky and my other trucks too. But thanks for the info. Much appreciated

@@TruckingwithLoshawnParks I know I'm correct. Been pulling these trlrs for six years. Numerous times the gauge said I was legal. And the cat scale said I wasn't. That's fact. Not what I think.
And I've seen trucks a scaled with all the equipment reworking their loads.
Do you really believe trusting those things is financially safer then spending $11.50 on some loads, the heavy ones? You can pay for a lot of scale tickets for what one over weight load could cost you. Because you the driver are responsible for it and the Bill's and fines being over weight generate.
      Stay lucky.

entertainme099 answer me this since you been “Pulling these trailers for 6 years”. Why does Prime put these on the trailer if there really no good? Is rob wasting money is what your saying? Also, if this is out of calibration and you use that, right weigh or prime doesn’t play or take responsibility in it? I mean these are questions I have since it seems you are “Correct” on all things prime. I mean you been real critical of me with Prime info so I thought you might have the answers. Not being smart, just asking someone who knows

I think ur over thinking how the system works. All it takes is a little common sense to know if you are too heavy to trust the scales. Every load you pick up ain't gonna be over 40k pounds for you to have to go to a cat scale.

When I call in live dispatch they ask for scale weights and twice they questioned the accuracy of the trailer scale because weight I loaded versus scale reading both times it was my fault of being a noob but both times scale was accurate as they told me to cat scale the load. So prime relies on the scales.
Now you got to remember if you loaded x amount of weight and your truck and emty truck and trailer weight is xx you know the truck drive scale is good because you calibrated that and left room for error. Add this weight to that weight badda bing badda boom trailer tandems must be around this and scale says it is must be right. Now if I'm real heavy I myself is going to a cat scale.
