TayZonday chocolate raiinnnnnnn
+Golden Dragon Gameing The intent of this video is to offer commentary on life and current events. The intent of my music is to offer commentary on life and current events. Those purposes are in alignment.
TayZonday yea Tay tell him your awesome
You are 110 percent right. Thanks for addressing this issue.
Net neutrality needs to stay. Data caps for internet can go the fuck away though
When have corporations ever been able to be trusted to regulate themselves? That worked real well before, right...
US in the 1800: let's have freedom! =D
US in 2017: no
US in the 1700s/1800s: Let's have freedom *from the government!*
US in 2017: Let's have freedom *from the government*
I typically sit somewhere in the middle when it comes to politics, but for some issues I sway left or right. When it comes to net neutrality, I believe the government should keep the providers in check. Considering how much we rely on Internet access for so many things, I think it would be a huge mistake to let providers gouge the hell out of the consumers. They (the major ISPs) already have too much power as it is.
This is one of those issues that everyone should care about, yet so few do.
Haha, was so awesome to see you on LastWeekTonight!! I was like "OMG It's Tay Zonday!" Also fortunately caught up on videos last night so meant I watched it before catching LWT this morning haha.
Thank you, man. I work for a Fontune 50 web hosting company, and your words couldn't be more spot on.
It's bad enough that the Internet service providers are becoming monopolies just like the phone companies did. And it's also bad enough that we don't have fast Internet like other countries. I don't understand how someone can live in this world, in the modern age, and believe that the Internet is not a public utility. The Internet is pretty much required for all forms of communication regarding jobs, news, collage and school information, etc. HOW is that not public utility like phones, roads, etc????
if it is a "public utility" like you wish it was then regulation is inevitiable. something that has to happen.
lavafoxx
Okay, what regulation concerns you about your telephone usage? What regulatory issue do you have with the power grid?
In some sense it may be true that regulation is necessary or inevitable, but not the "you won't be able to speak freely" or "everything you do will be controlled by the government" type people seem to imply there. Just regulations on things like standards or what companies can/can't do.
I like that you are politically active and informed.
You're step up above me.
It's bad enough that ISPs can now record our histories and sell them to third-parties, but then this happens. This is going to be a rather painful experience.
jeez your voice is so deep
I concur- you're right! It irks me that common areas of life, such as Internet usage, gas prices etc are politicized by the very people who say they don't like government! And I'm sorry- I just don't trust corporations to police themselves. Beneficial & necessary services seem to always become tainted when profit without regulations is the rule.

While I normally agree that government shouldn't regulate most markets, the internet is undoubtedly a utility in this day and age. It is necessary for many aspects of modern life HOWEVER the problems I feel stem from the Pseudo-Monopolies that ISPs have. There needs to be more competition for ISP's in a local level, the current market is diseased with poor business practices that are very anti consumer and dare say, anti capitalist at this point with how stifled competition is in certain portions of America
The Malevolent Mantis
How do you propose they do that? DSL can't compete with higher speeds that even 4G can offer in comparison. Everything else requires building your own infrastructure or relying on renting another's (the latter giving the owner as much control as now). Cell towers, Satellites in orbit, fiber optic cable a underground, cable lines... I mean theoretically an area could build a giant ad-hoc WiFi network instead, but that wouldn't be something a company could do really. The rest require every competitor run things either under or above ground taking up more and more space for a wider variety. It's only slightly more practical than water or electric "competition" in an area.
The Internet is lucky to have Tay Zonday!
Loved this explanation! This video deserves WAY more views, and you deserve WAY more subs.
Would ever consider going on something like the H3 podcast, GMM, or another big podcast? I feel like you would be an awesome guest, and would love to hear you talk more about this!
(Big fan btw!)
I urge you to look to Australia for an example of the perils of privatisation.
u have a deep ass voice
I hadn't watched in forever and rarely use this account.. but I was doing a throwback in Discord to your Chocolate Rain and found this. Thank you for educating people on such an important subject that is being repeatedly fast-tracked to the death of the internet as we know it.
This ain't Chocolate Rain 3.0...
(low-key proud that I saw this before I saw it on Lst Week Tonight)
Wow, I did not know that you actually talk like this
He doesn't, it's clearly forced which is why it sounds ridiculous.
This is very well explained, and I think more people need to be talking about this issue.
I agree
This video deserves a lot more views! Loving ur recent "am I right/wrong" videos!
Must act to your local people and make it easy for them to understand how 'Net Neutrality' is for people and not Corporations... Got to get behind the Social media, local paper?, etc.
Step 1: Go to ”gofccyourself.com”
Step 2: Click on ”Express”
Step 3: Copy/Paste saying ”I specifically support song net neutrality backed by the Title II oversight of ISPs.” from SubZero
Thanks Tay, loved your work in The Osteoporosis Dance
So I got an upsurdly long Ben 10 commercial
very well argued. here in Australia we look on in fear, and sometimes wonderment, at the decisions your lawmakers make; knowing that in some form or another they will filter down into legislation here. Your McDonalds/Subway analogy should make more people stop and think. Keep fighting the good fight my friend.
Your on Last Week Tonight On HBO
Andy Knapp you're*
Really enjoying your channel, thanks Tay.
You haven't aged since turn-to-the-side-for-survival video
I think a lot of Internet content providers will be moving off-shore where they can at least serve the rest of the world without paying ransom to American service providers.
Why have you had the same haircut for over 14 years?
Judging by your pfp, I’m willing to bet you have too.
@@Unvers3d you’re right, you’re kinda right.
@@Unvers3dGod damn, you went straight for his throat! Lol!
Literally Cencorship.
This is so sad. One serious video and only 6000 views. Audiences these days...
Abnormal Anomaly Look at Markipliers video on it.
Well said, great explanation.
Thanks for the information: perhaps the clearest video on the topic I've seen.
Thanks for the video Tay. This is very well articulated and you're absolutely right.
You need to do radio

Full Disclosure; I'm here from John Oliver =)
You should be an anchorman on ABC.
great video Tay, the FCC is trying to kill something that makes the Internet great
When you started talking about video sites, I half-expected a buffer logo to appear in the middle of the screen.
Overall your right ... and your extremely intelligent

Instructions with the help of John Oliver
He's like Orson Welles or Morgan Freeman. But on the internet.
Thank you. You are right.
Agreed, and I'm glad it sounds like we may get net neutrality back... at least partially I think? And it'd be pretty awesome if you made more content like this, about current events and political issues you're interested in talking about.
Why does he sound like a person that would be in fallout's news
You said things beautifully. It is a great overview of just how important NET NEUTRALITY really is and how how bad it can be with out it. it to me seem like FCC Chairman Ajit Pai is a bad guy when it come to the internet. Ajit Pai wanting to do away with NET NEUTRALITY stems to only make the ISPS more money (far more then they probably really need) to put in their pockets. It would also hurt the economy of the country. Among the many other things it may do like drive the price to go to business's that relay (heavliy or in part) on the internet as part of running their business successful.
To put it simply, I believe that the whole internet is going to crash and burn if this person who looks like he doesn't even know what Vine was is going to go through with this.
-in other words, profit might actually go down-
Excellent commentary.
I think you are absolutely right
This was a great video
CHOCOLATE RAIIIIIN

Wait when did Net Neutrality come back??? I thought congress banned it...
they're trying this again?! didn't they already attempt this before?
Maudika Yeah, and they will never stop.
but now republican's are in control of everything.
If I have RUclips Red (paid RUclips without ads), how can I tell if a video is or isn't monetized? I don't think I can.
I've always wondered this exact question
@@kevinwalden4288 we have to open an incognito window. Some of them have commercials and they also have sponsors. so it can be like multi repeat commercials.
RUclips premium is so worth it.
@@pbsamanthamarie ahh good to know. I've had youtube premium for about five years. Best streaming service I've ever paid for. Yeah sometimes I wonder which youtubers I watch are monetized and sometimes I wanna see if they put a ridiculous amounts of ad rolls in their videos and I literally created a second youtube account without premium just so I could see lol
what is this Bing Search engine thing he's mentioned about?
If it does pass, I have a good title for it: The American Internet Crash of 2018. The crash would only happen if people leave the internet en mass, after feeling disgusted by slow loading times and large payments.
Justin Hill 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
So... How'd the crash go? I must've missed it.
Nice video man. :3
Now we have countries demanding ID for internet use, dark times are ahead.
that will just let the darknet grow
some stay dry...

Ugh! Cases like these are textbook examples for why I belive unregulated capitalism are a VERY bad idea!
If an ISP is screwing their customers, competing ISPs can step in and offer services that don't screw customers.
Carl Tuckerson THANK YOU, people are assuming that an ISP will just shaft you by destroying internet speeds for certain sites, when in reality, they'll be forced to adjust to what the consumer wants, it's the same with gasoline, you don't see one gas station selling gas for $8.00 and the one right next to it selling for $2.00, it's not a logical move by the business.
You are right.
is that a vibrating chair or doe he have parkinsons?
there should be a huge riot if the net nutrality ever had a slip....
hello chocolate rain
100% in target

Sorry- internet's no longer a luxury. It's mandatory in this age.
