Also, the comment about Sonny Sharrock being a huge influence on the guitarist (I'm guessing Mike Banfield?) makes sense in regard to how he wrote Don Cab songs.
After all these years, I randomly looked up Damon Che on RUclips after watching a bunch of Battles videos. Posted 6 days ago? The universe is speaking to me.
I had never heard Damon Che speak outside of the occasional tighty-whities comment/rant from old Don Caballero gig videos. Seeing as he was such a big influence and hero of mine growing up, hearing somebody picking his brain is a real treat. More please!
A couple years ago he did a long interview and answered fans questions on The Trap Set podcast if you are interested in some more stories from Damon www.thetrapset.net/113-damon-che-don-caballero/ www.thetrapset.net/bns-damon-che-answers-listeners-questions/
@@DonCaballeroOfficial Hell yeah! I definitely did, have been appreciating all these videos man, that interview was awesome as is anything that he does
This is great, I never would've guessed that Gang Of Four had any influence on Don Cab, especially in those earlier days. I was also wondering about what particular songs Damon plays guitar on. I know there's an interview that exists where he mentions Well Built Road and Delivering The Groceries At 138 Beats Per Minute, but are there others, and if so, which ones??
I know this is a video about For Respect but I have an American Don question. Does an extended version of "You Drink A Lot Of Coffee For A Teenager" exist other than in live vids?
@@DonCaballeroOfficial Thanks for the reply! Hopefully, it'll magically turn up. I remember him talking about how he was always having to fight to keep parts from getting thrown out.
Damon, you are a genius and a direct contribution to why I’ve decided to pick up the drums again more recently. I hope you do more of these and that Gang of Four album is excellent. Which song is your favorite?
Damon, did you have lessons or self taught? I started playing at 15, around the first time I heard you guys (92) and just couldn't get my head round the style and technique. My head was blown. Some of the stuff I just couldn't do (and still can't)) 🤣
I love that we are still unpacking this amazing bands legacy 20 years later.
Try 30 years. The first album came out in 1991
So glad to see this channel. Damon, you're amazing man.
This is so interesting. I love hearing these kinds of stories. Please keep these coming. Heck, I could watch hours of these kinds of interviews!

Thee speaking canaries is an astonishing try to bring the 90's back.

No doubt! I think everyone is looking for more of Don Cab !
Damon Che still has the best on stage banter of all time.
I'm eagerly expecting the Don Caballero II one, that's easily one of my favorite records of all life.
Damon, I’m so glad you started this channel! I hit the subscribe button immediately.
Thank you!

Don't think so. We'll be releasing an American Don interview next. But I don't think he talks about that specifically

Average fans weren’t aware of a lot of things around that time . 😄
Man I gotta ask how tall is Damon? Like 6'6?
Totally. A tall fellow!
