Yay a Lego room update! 😀 I like how you “MOC” Ikea like you do for Lego. 👍 I can see the great city starting, lots of tables (and more) then soon… Lego time!!!!! 🎉 JJ F
On the third shelf there is a hidden place behind the end of the second shelf. I think it can be used as a feature. Maybe a big cave for the cyclops army to come out of. Especially if light up it would look great
I use hand sanitizer on stubborn stickers. Since it's a gel it sticks on while you are working at it, and it dissolves the glue. Breaks down tree sap on clothing, too.
Thanks for the idea on modifying the IKEA shelving! I have an area that I don’t want the cubbies and you have given me a how-to video! Can’t wait to see more progress!
Looking good. If you haven't found a solution for the mm gap at the top yet, you could buy styrene sheets in 1.0mm thickness, or 0.75mm/0.25mm, etc. Any model or hobby shop should have some in stock to try and it's easy to order online.
I’m sure someone else has comments this, but just encase they haven’t, could you use Lego to make supports if needed?? Part of a cave cross section would look awesome
Yes indeed. For the front ones I can either encapsulate LEGO or easily saw them through and replace with LEGO when ready. I don't want wood visible at the front long-term!
Would you not want the back of the front cabinets to be covered in solid shelves? Stop seeing through to the unsightly legs of the other tables? Bit of lighting and solid backs would look really nice.
Hi there i'm sorry to say that some of video when u were working on your units I saw was alot of carpet and not seeing the units but i liked the rest of it and am glad the room is coming together. X
if the front edge is water, what would you think about bridging the crawl gap with bridges (making the crawl space analogous to the entrance to brick bay) in order to make it more forgiving to crawl through?
I'm thinking it'll be a headland of rock so we can get the height even higher. The tables are lower now so I don't want to crawl under water level. I'll still have bridges but not over the crawl space!
What would we do without the nordic nations :) No Lego, no IKEA... It would be a terrible world to live in :) Have you consicered a 2x2 kalax for the crawl space entry? You could use just the three sides as an arch. It would be "in the system" giving you a consistent height. It would probably need some strengthening in the corners though.
We'd be a lot poorer, that's for sure. I want it higher there for a better crawl height. It'll be even higher than this and be a headland breaking up the coastline!
Starting to really come together! Looking awesome! Hope to one day be able to build myself a space like this, would be great not to have to build in a dingy garage! Sometimes can't help but envy the Americans and their massive basements xD
Now would be the perfect time to transfer to the MILS system when you rebuild the entire LEGO city. It really isn’t as much as people think As you have the baseplate, can use any random cheap used 2x2 from bricklink in the middle of the plate and cover it with new roads, custom paths, footpaths, bike tracks etc. Small investment as you go and as you expand etc for the complete flexibility to change and move around later on. Just a thought while it’s the ideal time to make the change
Dollar stores have baseplates for $1.25 and they're almost as good as Lego. Since I'm going to cover them up anyway, why pay more? One of the best builders at a local convention told me he used them. His work was great; I wasn't about to doubt him, so I went to Dollar Tree to check. There was a box of baseplates on the shelf. I took 4 plates out of the box, left them on the shelf, and bought the other 14 plates and brought the display box home. They also have 1/4 baseplate-size plate (16x16) for the same price. Only $1 cheaper than Lego 16x16, but nice for groups of minifigs.
I don't like MILS. I'll be building on lots of different l vertical evels and do pretty well with custom paths etc. I also don't like the new road system and have bought more of the old road plates to fill the extra space!
Awesome update, love it. And yes, it's very similar to a Lego video. How are you going to deal with the slightly higher side bits of the "top" and "bottom" shelves (in fact your sides), aren't those very very annoying when putting baseplates on top?
Love to see your shelf re-arrangement. Those boxes are just parts packs, right? A brick separator or similar plastic wedge can help take the stickers off. Don't ruin your thumbnails! Definitely use gloves with that lighter fluid lol. If you can find 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol, or some nail polish remover. I guess lighter fluid might be cheaper per ml than those. Does it leave any residue?
No it all evaporates very quickly and cleanly. You do need to wash your hands afterwards. They didn't need it though. They just needed to be peeled slowly, haha!
Didn't you heat up the table legs. There is a youtuber who repostions stickers with his patented hot tea technic... maybe you could look it up and its helps to remove the labels. ^^' good luck peeling further
Get yourself a cheap heat gun or use your wife’s hairdryer to help get the stickers off the legs. It’ll warm up the adhesive and they’ll peel off easier.
looking great! can't wait to start seeing buildings here, plenty of room for an interesting layout it looks like!
Lots more than before!
Does your hot tea technique not work on those stickers/labels? 🤔 it’s coming along can’t wait for the city to actually start to take shape 😁
That's a lot of tea but it only needed a bit of patience!
Hot soapy water technique Robin.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one who instantly thought "Hot Tea Technique". 😀
Glass cleaning solutions can help remove those types of stickers
If you ever wanna remove stickers, but not keep them or reapply you can use orange oil because of Limonene
Yay a Lego room update! 😀
I like how you “MOC” Ikea like you do for Lego. 👍 I can see the great city starting, lots of tables (and more) then soon… Lego time!!!!! 🎉

My IKEA bill is going to be huge!
I love how you’re adapting the IKEA shelves to your needs just like you do Lego sets!
Oh thank you!
On the third shelf there is a hidden place behind the end of the second shelf. I think it can be used as a feature. Maybe a big cave for the cyclops army to come out of. Especially if light up it would look great
Ahh around the corner. Yes!
I use hand sanitizer on stubborn stickers. Since it's a gel it sticks on while you are working at it, and it dissolves the glue. Breaks down tree sap on clothing, too.
Not heard of that before. I use lighter fluid!
@@RobinHoodBricks Yikes! Give the hand sanitizer a try.
Hand sanitizer actually dose work really well I think it's the ethanol that dose it
Very clever use of the kallax units. Nice to see you weren’t left with loads of unused parts. 👍🏻
I thought I would be. It worked well!
Thanks for the idea on modifying the IKEA shelving! I have an area that I don’t want the cubbies and you have given me a how-to video! Can’t wait to see more progress!
Very happy to hear that. You could even use a solid tower of LEGO as your front support. Maybe disguised as a tree or building!
Modifying IKEA furniture, heresy!!😁 Good job, it looks great! I'm jealous!
It worked out better than I thought. I expected more bits left over!
Another excellent episode of Robin Hood Shelves!
You know it!
Oooh exciting!
May I suggest the use of the Unpatented Hit Coffee technique for sticker removal? 🤭
Bleugh. Coffee?!
Oh man your room is looking great! Love the colours of the walls!
Yes it's a lovely space to be in now!
Exciting times! Looking forward to see more!
Yeah, a bit slow progress at the moment due to all sorts of stuff!
Looking good. If you haven't found a solution for the mm gap at the top yet, you could buy styrene sheets in 1.0mm thickness, or 0.75mm/0.25mm, etc. Any model or hobby shop should have some in stock to try and it's easy to order online.
All the model shops near me seem to have shut down but I bet I can still find it. Thanks!
Great to see the room coming together. Looking forward to seeing Brick Nottingham move in.
That'll be a fair few trips up and down stairs!
I have an image of legions of minifigs on the stairs passing it down brick by brick.
Robin applying his LEGO MOC skills to combine 3 differnet Ikea sets to fit his requirements 😄
Pretty much!
Looking great, glad the extra support was added to those units, means any Lego will be supported! Excited for the future updates.
I can always saw them out later if bricks take their place too!
Great job
Many thanks!
Awesome to see another update on the Lego room Robin! Saludos y gracias por compartir.
You're welcome. I'm sure the pace will pick up soon!
I love it when a plan comes together, I'm lighting a cigar!
Thanks, Hannibal!
You could have a like sticky background for under the sea like your cabinet so people will not see through the shelves.
I thought, on these ones, it might be solid bricks as a background!
I use a high-powered hairdryer to soften the glue. Heat it all for a minute or two, then peel. . . .
My method feels a little gentler but is similar. However I also get a tasty tea to drink afterwards. Result!
Very well done! I can't wait to see the next video😁
Coming soon!
Use a hairdryer to heat up the stickers. The glue of the sticker become's liquid again and then they peal off with no effort at all
Darn it, too late!
@@RobinHoodBricks maybe for now it's to late. But now you know it for the next time.
That looks fantastic! Smart to make them like this!!! I think it's good enough to not sagg although I have a 2x2 in my Lego room.
Very useful aren't they!
Great progress, you must be itching to get the tables in so you can start moving lego 😊
Yes I am. Real life has been the main hurdle recently!
@@RobinHoodBricks oh I get that to many projects too little time, life gets in the way of building lego 🤣
Great news to see more progress getting more exited well done robin
Thanks!
You can use acetone and a rag to get the stickers off.
I use lighter fluid for the same thing. It can be used on LEGO bricks!
splendid update chap
Cheers, Paul!
Would you not want the back of the front cabinets to be covered in solid shelves? Stop seeing through to the unsightly legs of the other tables?
Bit of lighting and solid backs would look really nice.
Ultimately they'll have solid LEGO backs. I don't want any wood visible. This was easiest to do without drilling holes into weak honeycomb!
I cant wait for the new lego room will be finished. Good luck for finish it ;)
It just needs tables and bricks now!
Keep in mind make sure you don’t get baseplates based on legos measurements turns out it’s actually wrong so double check just in case
I've factored that into my plans and the room isn't perfectly square either!
Try using a hair dryer to loosen the stickers! Good luck!
All done with a little patience!
Hi there i'm sorry to say that some of video when u were working on your units I saw was alot of carpet and not seeing the units but i liked the rest of it and am glad the room is coming together. X
I understand!
Looks briljant! Never came to my mind to setup those Kallax units like that... But what about the space behind the one in the corner?
It's the exact distance for a table top. It's all in the master plan!
if the front edge is water, what would you think about bridging the crawl gap with bridges (making the crawl space analogous to the entrance to brick bay) in order to make it more forgiving to crawl through?

Did you try the Patented Hot Tea Technique (boing sound effect inserted here) for those table leg stickers yet?
They're all off and I drank the tea!

So true. Those basements are huge!

Great vlog.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Don't think I've ever seen a MOC IKEA kallax unit before 😂
Haha!
Why don’t you design a drawbridge or lift bridge or whatever it’s called between the two cabinets instead of to crawl underneath it everytime?
Because it'll have train tracks over it, and roads and vehicles etc etc!
Lookin' good!
Cheers!
use goo b gone orange oil to remove stickers easier :D
Thanks for the tip!
So is there a special Hot Tea Technic for those stickers. Lol
It would work but it's not helped by the curved legs!
Awesome update, love it. And yes, it's very similar to a Lego video.
How are you going to deal with the slightly higher side bits of the "top" and "bottom" shelves (in fact your sides), aren't those very very annoying when putting baseplates on top?
Old LEGO boxes is my first idea!
ROBIN! HAVE YOU COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN YOUR PATENTED HOT TEA TECHNIQUE??? also some GooGone or oil can be helpful with stubborn sticker residue.
The goo comes off fine using the sticker itself on this case. I always use lighter fluid for stickiness removal. Anyway, all done now!
I can smell the meatballs from here.
Yeah we didn't stop for meatballs but we did end up with a few kitchen things we didn't plan on!

Use Goof Off or Goo Gone to remove stickers
Lighter fluid works great and is cheap and easy!
Didn't you heat up the table legs. There is a youtuber who repostions stickers with his patented hot tea technic... maybe you could look it up and its helps to remove the labels. ^^' good luck peeling further
Sounds like a LEGO genius!
Get yourself a cheap heat gun or use your wife’s hairdryer to help get the stickers off the legs. It’ll warm up the adhesive and they’ll peel off easier.
They weren't that bad. Just a lot of them!
Someone say something about HOT TEA TECHNIQUES! 😁😜😜🫖 Also, time to send in the IKEA Haul #1
Hot tea kept me going whilst teasing them up!
Do you have UnDo or Goo Gone in the UK? Works so much better than just peeling and scraping.
Lighter fluid but these came up fine just using the sticker backs to pick up the rest!
Could part of the intended crawl route be left open as if its a river. Have bridges for cars and trains?
It becomes a massive barrier to trains then. I don't mind!
Is this a chance to add more train track so more trains are spread out on more track!
It sure is. Much more track incoming!
Hot tea doesn't work on metal table legs?
It doesn't last long with me around!
Excellent progress! I like what you have planned out. Good kob, now get busy and keep going 😂.jk
That's the plan!
👌🐱🐈👍
These videos dont come soon enough 😢
I'm trying!
