I adore Lea Salonga! Yes, her Disney princess performances were great. And her Eponine, then Fantine, were amazing. But her heart-wrenching performance as Kim in "Miss Saigon" was pure perfection and my absolute favorite of all her work.

Lea Salonga was doing "Miss Saigon" in the U.K. when Little Mermaid was released to the movie theaters in 1989, so she still was an unknown singer at that time. When she was doing Kim from "Miss Saigon" on Broadway, Disney invited Lea to audition for the singing voice for Princess Jasmine for their version of "Aladdin." She got the role, and she is the only person to do two different Disney Princesses, Jasmine and Mulan. As many people have said, Lea has the perfect diction and a singing voice that most singers will ever have. I always enjoy Lea's singing talent.

I also LOVE that she sings the tone change in the word “the” of the chorus, when singing “stay all day in THE sun”, instead of singing it like a straight note, as many and most people do… the original song has that tone jump, and it’s one of the quirks that makes this song so unique.

She is stunning, her voice is so beautiful, her Kim in Miss Saigon…amazing…her playing Fantine in the O2 25th anniversary Les Mis concert was magic. Sound classical vocal technique as Lea Salonga's singing foundation really helps preserve the clarity and youthfulness of her voice. She doesn't screech or muscle through unlike so many other singers out there. Good genes are also always a big plus.

This is one of my all-time favorite Disney songs. As a 40-year old girl, the Little Mermaid was my JAM in the 80s, so it's always a pleasure to see anyone sing songs from it... and this was such a COOL homage. I agree with you how annoying it is when people have perfect pitch and can just tell you what key you're singing/playing in instantly lol.
