    I spoke for two years with a Canadian lady who lost her son in a Canadian NP, losing someone as a missing person in many ways is worse than knowing that person has been found dead, the anguish is uncomparable believe me, it is probably beyond words.....

    I was out about 7 miles from town. Love this dirt road I like to walk. Shortly I heard a funny meow. Started to walk backwards to car. Got in rolled up windows and locked doors. Flew back into town. Just something wasn't right about the meow. Haven't done it in a year.

    I have lived on the Oregon Coast for 40 years and my first thought in these cases are animals. Bears will hide their kills for later, cougars drag their kills off to a safe spot to eat and wolves will eat every part of you! Survivorman did an episode (S7 e4), of a missing family in Gold Beach, OR and found a lot of cougar signs in that area. Two years ago we lost a hunter in that area and has still never been found. Most think a cougar got him and there's nothing left. Unfortunately, Oregon also has a high rate of serial killers too. So either way, never go into the woods alone and unarmed...I don't!

    • @loditx7706
      @loditx7706 6 лет назад +22

      In the case of an animal attack one would find blood at the site of the original attack and probably some sort of blood trail, even if it didn't lead all the way to a body. No blood, no animal attack. Anyway, aren't tracking dogs used for that?

    • @ctd7731
      @ctd7731 6 лет назад +20

      @ I worked as a surveyor for a few years. The things we feared the most when we were surveying were bees and hornets. They can make a nest practically anywhere! I have had them come out of the ground and a rock to attack me. The time they came out of the rock, the swarm totally engulfed me. I was stung all over my body. I'm really lucky I survived. Some people are so allergic to them that one sting could kill them. Anyway, a person could get stung and panic which could lead to their death. The persons carcass could then be eaten by bears, mountain lions, etc. Whatever is left could be scavenged by birds of prey and smaller carnivores that could scatter the remains far away from where the person was originally. I know this post is rather morbid, but it is just one of my theories on these type of disappearances. Take care

    • @loditx7706
      @loditx7706 6 лет назад +16

      Crossroads Chris: Thanks for the info; sure beats the heck out of everyone blaming mountain lions, coyotes, bears, and wolves. I might also point out that a lot of these people disappeared when in close proximity to others (as reported by the others) yet no one heard animals noises or the missing person screaming blue blazes as they were dragged off. I mean, even if it's Bigfoot surely someone somewhere would have time to give out a shout.

      @@loditx7706 Thank you for the reply! When you mentioned that some people go missing in close proximity to other people is what baffles me the most. You are right that they should have been able to make some sort of cry for help if they were being attacked! I find all of this to be very interesting. My heart goes out the people who lost their lives or are still missing. Take care

    Great video. My friend and I many years ago climbed Mt. Marcy in the Adirondacks. We had underestimated how long it would take us. We had left our packs down at Johns Brook Lodge so all I had was my little Boy Scout type pack in which I had (luckily) some food. Water is never a problem in the Adirondacks, so we both had full canteens. We had to spend the night (unexpectedly) at the Plateau leanto. It was a miserable night as we were freezing, even though it was August. The plateau gets very cold at night because of the wind. It just gave me goose bumps to hear about the disappearance of that hiker. The Adirondacks are very remote and lonely. I think of them often. Thanks Rusty for all the good work you do. Cheers Pat

    • @j.wik.2060
      @j.wik.2060 6 лет назад +2

      Megan Schmidt, hmmm, I have some experience with the outdoors. Have been cycling the US east coast alone, and camped in the woods and strange places. And kayaking and camping in Finland, Sweden and Denmark. I'm a soldier in Denmark, and have been a lot in the outdoors. And the only "thing" I'm really afraid of out there, are other human beings.... Not bears or wolfs or snakes, but humans. They are difficult to trust, and can be psychotic and doing weird things, or just simply having a really really bad day.
      I have tried to have these "strange sixth sense feelings" in the woods, but I'm always expecting to see another human being when it happens.
      My theory is that these disappearances are simply people falling into a small hole, breaking their back or both legs, or getting lost because they rely on GPS and battery driven devices only, or get taken out by a really angry bear.
      I'm not sure that I really think that it's Bigfoot or some people hiding in the woods and living out there, because they would have to be a lot of people out there. And Bigfoot, why haven't we found a skeleton? Or at least have a nice picture from a trail cam :-) nobody can stay hidden for that long in 2018. But on the other hand, I like the thought of Bigfoot hiding out there. But of course not if he's hurting anybody.
      So I really think there's a natural explanation when people dissappear.
      What do you think???

    • @Meganschmidt1985

      Jarno Wik. Thanks for the detailed response. I agree with you and the poster above, those are the most logical explanations.

    Hey Rusty! Love your channel. The stories of the missing are fascinating! Earlier I listened to the "interview" with Carl. In it, he asked what your thoughts were on why these people might come up missing. You responded with several reasons which ran the spectrum most of which cannot be argued. I mean, we need to consider all reasons this might be happening. However, one reason that I didn't hear and I feel should be mentioned is that sometimes people do not want to be found. I know it's strange to hear. But as a former Private Investigator whose worked missing person cases, it's rare, but sometimes there are people that just want to disappear from their daily lives. They are usually older and are a small percentage. But a percentage just the same. Keep up the great work! Thanks.

      @@goinoutlikegeez the songs on this video? The first song here on volume 25 is "spring thaw" and "long road ahead" by kevin macleod. His early volumes, 1-14 i think, had an even better sound track which were the songs "celtic moonsong" and "lost love (sad vilolins)" those were the very best songs on his sound tracks. I mean they are all good but damn those ones were just so eerie! Hope that helps!!

Thanks for sharing Rusty and I hope you are settling in to your new home.

    When a young child disappears maybe a juvenile bigfoot takes them as a pet just like humans kids do when they catch a wild animal. Along comes the parent bigfoot and they possibly make the juvenile release the child. The problem is it could be miles away from where they took the child. Unless found the child would end up dying from exposure or animal attack. That might explain the unusually large amount of children missing.

    So good to hear your updates Rusty. I am always waiting with baited breath and so interested in this huge phenomena. I wonder if young JR was wearing bright coloured clothing, a common thing in disappearances. It seems as though this occurrence happens in one place and not another, then it reverses? Almost like the thing that causes it moves around over many distances, over time. Cheers

    The shoes are a mystery. Like something hurried and grabbed them and torn right out of their shoes. I've been in fights and my shoes or shoe would fall off. These poor families. I hope the families get high profile lawyers and sue these parks. Too many presumed dead. Hidden coronors conclusions. These are these peoples' families. The National Parks HAVE MONEY. There has to be a way to hold the Parks responsible. Hiding information. Disregarding the pain and suffering of the families. The Parks have the money to put up cameras! Cameras are EVERYWHERE!

      Tammy Huennerkopf Can’t people see the similarities to the Indians,in the trail of tears...the US Marshall’s did death marches ,theses poor NA were taken hundreds of miles through the snow,and freezing conditions ,no food,they had their footwear taken from them,(shoes) and walked bare feet in the snow ,some with little or no clothes,often along creek trails...women n children slaughtered in there thousands all over the states...see the connection,I do.

    I've been caught up with many of these cases and books for a year now and it's time we start using our brains and coming up with reasons of why or how certain things happen. Let's start with this: Why are their shoes always missing from the body and found in random locations? What's so important about shoes or what's so unimportant about them where whatever is taking these people is leaving behind the shoes? People better start coming up with some ideas or answers now.
