  • Her dad bought her a brand new set of tires without telling her...nice! And then handed her the bill. NOT so nice. Is she obligated to pay up?

    Dad was clearly in the wrong. Offer a payment plan and that's the best she can do

    I would agree with the payment plan. It gets paid in the end.

    Having a safe car and tires is not comparable to buying apples at a grocery store. Sheesh. Driving around with unsafe tires is stupid and put other people at risk

    WHEN was her car last inspected? If it was recent, then likely her tires were fine, except the one with the nail.

      If she is in Georgia, that state doesn't require annual safety inspections...

    Apples….. Abby….. c’mon. Tires are supposed to be around the same tread so sometimes if you have to one new one you have to get all new ones. Ask your dad about a payment plan.

    I would be interested in finding out if he got the cheapest set or average price tires or top of the line tires. If he got the cheapest tires then she should definitely pay that back even if it's on a payment plan. If her dad got top-of-the-line tires I would still pay for the amount of the cheapest set and the rest should be on him

    The tires are cheap but not the cheapest. He got some good tires, not great but good. He didn’t get bottom of the barrel tires. I just spent 1200 bucks on some premium tires. But that’s my choice. I would have gotten the tires as well. You could not keep driving on those tires. I’d just put my son on a payment plan to pay me back. But dad was absolutely right

    Lets use *GIRL MATH* $450 set of tires
    Average tire life span is about 60,000 miles. Divide.. that comes out to 0.0075 per mile... Less than a penny per mile. Is less than a penny per mile too expensive for the safety of your life and the lives of others on the road!?!?
    Just to Inform y'all. $450 for a new set of tires is Walmart prices. We would need to know the measurements of the tires required for her vehicle to be more accurate. Nevertheless, its cheap.
    Presumably, the father is at least 40 years old. He has been driving longer than his daughter has been alive, So it is safe to assume he has a bare minimum of knowledge when it comes to vehicles. A person does not need to be a car expert to know when tires are wasted and unsafe. So when he says they are unsafe, they are unsafe.

    I would say either payment plan or since Dad is all about learning a lesson. Dad pays half daughter pays half. Next time Dad you spend someone elses money you should check first.

    Just pay it your an adult that's what happens when u grow up stuff comes up that u don't expect and it is a good deal you were going have get brand new ones eventually anyways i paid 900$ for a new set of tires and I'm only 20 I didn't ask my parents to pay for it

    Me personally I would say thanks for the tires and I will be doing a payment plan of either 5 or 10 bucks a month until it’s paid off. If he doesn’t like the payment option then I would tell him to go back and get my old tires and put them back

    • @joamigg
      @joamigg 20 дней назад

      5 bucks a month? You won’t even have a dad anymore by the time it’s paid off.

    • @joamigg
      @joamigg 20 дней назад +1

      Imo you’d be better off just not paying him back at all and deal with the consequences of being cheap and ignorant to the fact that dad potentially just saved your life because clearly you are clueless about cars and tires if you let them get to the point where they are dangerous. Also, you can get a ticket for driving with bald tires because it’s a safety risk to others. Nothing would be funnier than you getting your old tires back because you lack priorities, get a 250 dollar ticket, and still have to pay 400 bucks for some tires. I’d tell you congratulations.
      Ps, this is not directed toward you personally. Just the person in this situation

      @Rudy-oh9wc 20 дней назад +2

      Anthony, generally I tend to agree with your comments. But this is a rare one where I completely disagree with how you would handle the situation. $5-10 a month.... You are basically prioritizing your Netflix subscription more than your own life and the lives of others on the road.
      Would it have been nice for the dad to call and let her daughter know about the change of plan, sure. But it doesn't change the fact that it is her responsibility to maintain her vehicle to safety standards. He foot the bill, she needs to pay him back at larger increments than that.

    Dad got taken advantage of by the mechanic and now she's in debt. Poor girl.

      Doubt it, tire tread is visible and with a little bit of common sense it is easy to tell when a tire is no longer safe. It doesn't take a "car person" to know when tires are wasted
