Re: PL-880 - They didn't mention that it has LSB and USB mode with 10 Hz resolution on the display and fine tuning. None of the others reviewed have that. That's the reason I bought it. In other words it will display and frequency e.g. 7156.01 MHz. It also has wide, medium, and narrow filters which work well on CW. These people who review know NOTHING about radios!
Thanks for your comment! I rely on people who are (supposedly) technology experts -- only to find out that they don't know what they're talking about. Very disappointing. (My first clue should have been the way she pronounced the word, "record" as in, "Put the record on the record player"!)
my SONY icf-2003 is great, i get AM stations 800 miles away almost every night and SW stations as far away as 5800 miles paid $45 USD and its 37 years old
I can listen to China and Romania on either My Tecsun PL-880 or my Eton Elite Executive. I like my Tecsun better because of the tuning. I like my Eton better because it takes 4 AA rechargeable or normal batteries and can recharge them. Old models aren't really relevant because you can not just run out and buy one anymore unless you trust eBay sellers...which I don't.
I have a couple of older Sony sets, the ICF2001 and the ICF2001d, they are both great sets given their age but are totally blown out of the water in every way by the tiny XH Data D-808 that costs peanuts
It's great that you have the desire and have taken the time to make this video. But, I really do wish you would ditch the computer generated narration. It's so obviously not a real person. I would much rather hear you doing the narration, no matter how you might feel about how you would sound. Just my two cents worth. Otherwise, a good video.
Well, I think this is the first video I’ve seen of this type, that has “ chosen “ the RIGHT radios. [ there are other excellent radios as well, that could easily have been included]. The only “flaws “: You show 2 different Tecsun models - and computer voice is dreadful. 📻🙂
I bought all 4 of my short waves on Amazon. All in excellent condition and delivered in 2 days.I accidentally ordered 2 of the same one and took it to a UPS store where they shipped it back for free. They actually placed my money back on my card the next day before they even got radio back.
1st they called them Trans Flash cards. Then they started calling them Micro USB cards. Now these radios call them T F cards? WTF? Can the make up their mind already?
I don't see why the retekess v115 gets great ratings from everyone. The big thing I hate about it is there is no manual search, it's auto or punch in.And playing any MP3 songs on it are nearly impossible.I just get a static sound no matter what format of MP3 I use.I also have the Tecsun 330 and 380.BOTH are excellent and feature packed. The 380 has SSB with 1Hz tuning and a ton of other features you used to only find on high end devices.
Rather superficial review. No product demonstration. No hint of hands-on experience with any of the radios. It looks like edited product marketing info. The first photo of the PL-360 is some other radio (maybe a PL-380), and why would you put the PL-360 on the 5 best list when the PL-368 with the same form factor is more capable? And where is the awesome Tecsun PL-330 and the full-featured value priced XHDATA D-808? This video is a total waste of time. Nearly every "10 best" or "5 best" video I've come across in the radio field is the same. BTW, the channel photo is a stock image. The voice is synthesized. The @OfficialSWLchannel has in-depth reviews, as does @todderbert; these folks are deeply experienced.
Thank you so much..
Pl 880 is most popular..

The problem is that it’s not being made anymore.

I quit. get a real narrator who can read correctly.

In my opinion eton executive is the best one
Robot voice? Really? No thanks.
Look for sympathy somewhere else !
The channel photo is a stock image. This video could have been written by AI and posted by come kid from his basement in Moldova.

TF is just the abbreviation of Transflash so it's the same thing.
I guess you meant micro SD cards.

The Retekess is good for its price point of under $25 US. It's not good compared to a $50 radio.
You have your Tecsun's switched. The PL-330 is the one with SSB, not the 380.
