    Okay so I'm going to say my opinion. I'm a Muse fan since the 90s. And I still love muse to the core. But I agree that this song is not that good. It annoys me that some if not alot of Muse fans comparing this song to old Muse which has nothing to do with old Muse. All their old songs had a signature a very UNIQUE intro with a UNIQUE solo and Matt is very creative and talented in writing his songs that when he becomes very melodic he even adds the wuuuuuu aaaaaaaah oOoOO in between that's how much melodic he becomes. I mean comparing this song with old Rachmaninoff / Tchaikovsky classical Old Muse songs is unacceptable. I just wait for the beginning of the song and if I hear Matt talking rather than singing I just panic and know that this song won't be memorable and won't interest me. it annoys me that some Muse fans exaggerate with their impressions and expression while listening to this song and it doesn't deserve all this hype. I want to end by saying I really appreciate Muse that this is an uneasy industry and for them to survive till this day I respect them for that and proud to be a Muse fan. I hope to hear something creative and catchy and melodic by Muse. I want to hear Rock/symphony/piano concerto Muse. And Not this Muse ....
    P.S.
    I saw alot of Hate and anger from Muse fans in the comment section and I'm really surprised. Muse fans you are better than this. And I apologize on behalf of Muse Fans.

      I agree I don't think this is Old Muse music, for this reason i think this is why i like this song. I never expect their music/albums to sound the same or similar. They're always changing. Do i prefer more of their "older" albums? Yes, but i still like most of their music. It took me a couple listens for this song to settle and grow on me, but i actually enjoy it.

  • @gretarosati_ph
    @gretarosati_ph 2 года назад +5

    I think that this song works and flows very well, actually, thanks to a great groove job done by Dom. Considering all the stuff going on in pre-chorus and chorus, what should they have done in the verse? It's simple and all based on Matt's vocals (so smooth and floating) and, IMHO, creates a really great contrast to the rest.
    It's not their masterpiece, but it's more Muse than it could seem at a superficial listening.
    Compare it to Imagine Dragons only for a shuffle tempo in the verse it's just very nonsense to me, the chromatic tension in the chorus screams MUSE everywhere and same for the guitar tones and the "fat" production.
    Anyway I respect your opinions, I think we agree it's not a masterpiece but it's not even to put in the garbage as you are probably suggesting. ;)

      @@TastesLikeMusic I agree. Personally I can't stand imagine dragons and while I see how muse may be leaning in that direction to try and please the pop crowd, I don't think they have fully sunk there yet. Thought contagion was far more in line with an imagine dragons esque sound, won't stand down is far far better than thought contagion for my money.

I liked a lot of bands that started around 2000 or so (Doves, and bands like them from England) which is why I'd switch 00s and 10s. Thanks for the responses. I love you guys.

    Constructive criticism : a few days ago Stromae released in an unbelievably creative way his second single from his upcoming new album : L' Enfer (Hell), by starting singing it out of the blue in prime time at French TV during what it seemed an interview.
    The first single, Santé, was one of the best songs of 2021 to anyone who listened to it.
    His previous album Racine Carré (and all the videos released) is a master piece.
    I would personally be more interested in hearing your thoughts on his songs that about an awful song of a band that hasn't been at their best for over a decade.

    I think it’s pretty bad tbh. I keep waiting for them to recapture the magic of records like Origin of Symmetry and Absolution but they only keep digging a bigger and bigger hole. I like their first 5 or so albums but after that I can’t find much to enjoy. They used to make their melodramatic excess work and it gave their sound this over the top but sinister edge. If this song wasn't that good it doesn't mean that they are a terrible band. This band started from the 90s and they survived until this day in this very difficult, controlling and greedy industry. FYI, the lead singer's father was in the tornadoes the first British band that hit no.1 in US. Not the Beatles but the tornadoes. The lead singer's Ex was Kate Hudson. Muse wrote symphonies, Alternative Rock, electronic to pop music. And they are very talented their songs are soundtracks in many movies. Brad Pitt asked them if he can put their music in World war Z. Jack Black loves cover their songs. They won many awards like grammy award and they are popular in winning best live act.

So where's the truth...no argumentation in this reaction, so you could say" i dont like it "and we would have get the same concept. If your goal is to give objective judgement you missed your chance; if your goal is to give a personal thought that's fine, you just had to specify.
    The guitar tone is only one of the things u said without argumentation: for example you have to give the definition of a song that is made of assembled parts. In my opinion there is only the objective of a defined and credible mood: in this case the rage from a painfull position is explored really well, with verse and chorus. If u want there are other reaction that explains,with argumentation,why the flow of the song is a pro.
