Losing 1.7 billion will have it’s effects on a company. They may not have finalized their closing list yet. The acquisition of Family Dollar didn’t go as they hoped and nine years later it’s time to get rid of the deadwood.
San Diego here: Both Dollar Tree stores in our neighborhood are really short on spices, rice and beans, but there's plenty of boxed meals and dinners. Every price has risen .25 to .45. They now have more cleaning supplies, storage accessories, picture frames, candles, cards, party stuff, cookies and candy, office supplies than food. The rolls of toilet paper and paper towels are shamefully tiny. No paper plates or cups, but they do have styrofoam everything. They always have plenty of socks! Toothpaste and such is slowly disappearing. Bar soaps are half what they used to carry. Gobs of glassware. No ketchup, plenty of mustard. Only 2 bottles of off brand olive oil. We used to shop here all the time, but now I only look at the office supplies and candles. And sometimes batteries, but lately the battery section has been completely empty. Thank you, Danno, for bringing all this to our attention. Even tho each area is different, they are still similar in their stock. Hi Jess, you and Danno take care! ❤
Dano the Family Dollar store is closing in Otisville,Michigan sometime in April. My neighbor girl works for that store and is not allowed to let customers know anything. The store supposedly is closing because of low data sales. Dollar General store is on the other end of town. I do not shop here because there are better choices in the town over. Or I shop online. Sad times for those loosing their jobs, cars and homes.
They're not all closing this year. Most are closing as their leases expire. On the other side, dollar general and their subsidiary will be expanding their footprint so it'll be a net "0" loss in the long run. It had to happen anyway. The "alleged" dollar stores have over saturated most metro areas anyway. Cripes there are 6 of these type stores within 3 miles of my neighborhood.
670 of the stores will close during the 1 quarter of 2024. My local store will close March 29th. The remaining 230 will close when their leases expire in the next 12months. If these closing don't help with profits then more stores will need to be closed their CEO said this morning on cnn.
good morning Danno!!!!!! Truthfully, I stopped shopping at Family Dollar years ago. Here in Winter Haven Fl, the stores are all so unorganized, boxes everywhere. You can barely get a cart through the aisles. There was no organization to anything. I look for at least 2 of our stores to close. They are everywhere in my town. Even the new one that was just built a few years ago just feels dirty when you walk in. It is a shame that these stores had no management that could step up and clean things up and straighten the shelves up. OK...rant over lol.
Their whole idea was to save people money. They've lost sight of that and are now losing their businesses. Good! Get greedy, get gone. Safe blessings, everyone.
They didn't get greedy. Biden's energy policy pushed up import prices, packaging prices, shipping prices. That is what happens when fuel costs go up. The expensive fuel costs get passed on to the products. In 2020 a freight container was less than $2,000 shipped, but now its $10,000.
My Family dollar store is closing .50%off closing sale starts tomorrow. In the 24 years that i have lived where i live ,i have never shopped at it. I have been in it 2x both times it was dirty. I might go tomorrow to check it out. Rural South western PA.
Becky here - here in Alabama, they have loads of these stores….pretty much overkill. I don’t go into these stores more than a couple of times a year….prices really aren’t all that great and most are a mess. Guess it’s time to clean house, figuratively and literally.
Hope they keep the ones open in areas where there is not many choices. Where I live there are like 6 Family Dollar/Dollar Tree stores within a 5 mile radius. We could loose a few.
It’s gloomy in my house today. Got our taxes done and owe over $4,000 to federal and almost $1,000 to the state. We knew we were going to owe, but 😮 didn’t think it would be that much. Not rich, not even middle, middle, class. This hurts and just a punch in the gut. I feel like giving up, but husband says we can’t and is going to try and get a loan.
I am sorry to hear about your tax issue. I havent done mine yet due to this fear. I dont make a lot but have no deductions so pretty sure going to have to pay in. You can do a payment plan with the IRS just dont miss a payment it does save money money no interest on the money if the bill is paid in the time frame.
I have one of those family dollar and dollar tree under one roof. Its large. I only like the dollar tree side. Was not impressed with the family dollar side. 😮
If I was working somewhere that I found out was closing... I'd be looking for a job, I'd have another job before they close. Hence the reason they aren't telling you what stores. People would be jumping ship, they can't let that happen, they still need those employees.
@@gailhonadle5182 they think closing stores in these areas they will save the bottom line. But The shoplifting will travel to others stores, Walmart closed a store in a bad neighborhood because of shoplifting. They now go to Mishawaka. Shoplifters drive...
Our Family Dollar is not closing and is currently in the process of a complete store renovation. All old shelves were thrown away, brand new freezer and coolers were taken in new lights, ceiling, paint, signage. Also Walmart is more expensive here than family dollar.
WEll, i just read that they are closing 1,000 of the stores. smh ONe New York Congress lady said she was happy, because other grocery stores can come in the area for the people to shop from.
I very seldom shop at Family Dollar except when I need something and small quantities so I’m not a huge fan, but I hope the employees can have the transferred 💙🙏🏽💙🙏🏽
Family Dollar is usually a rural America thing. Several years ago, I lived in a rural town, and I was so happy when my little town got one, I shopped there almost daily as I was hoofing it, and it was a 2-mile round trip. I think the closings have to do with too much saturation of stores in a small footprint in the larger cities... just saying.
I never found great deals at this store...so I seldom go. I also think that they prey on certain communities, hoping that those without cars, or the elderly with limited mobility...will shop here. I mean, as others have said, there often are stores less than a mile apart.
My doctor is in the next town from me in East Tennessee. Going to his office about 15 minutes away I pass one Dollar Tree and pass 4 Dollar General Stores. With that being said I’m pretty sure the one Dollar Tree that I pass will probably be closed. Dollar General has just simply buried them with competition.
I went to Dollar Tree a few days ago, it had been quite awhile since I was there last. I Gotta say I was Shocked about all of the products that had shrunk in size!!! I couldn't believe it, everything looked to be in miniature size. Crazy I tell ya. I dont know how anybody would want to even bother to buy in such small sizes
You should see the Family Dollar on Meadowbrook in Fort Worth (the hood), absolute disaster. How can the corporate office allow such a trash hole? The workers smell of weed, drill rap blasting, store looks like a tornado got stuck inside the building. The prices off the chain. It's just ridiculous. Workers have no control over costs but geez.... take some pride in your surroundings and get off the milk crate and do something!
You mean that they're not going to have a Going Out of Business sale where you're at? They should.because people will take advantage of the lower prices if they at least have a 20% off of everything and raising the percentage until everything is gone. Some stores will even sell the fixtures of the store like shelves also like they did at K-Mart and other stores that have gone out of business.
Dont want to sound like a vulture, but part of me is left to wonder if Dollar Tree and Family Dollar will be having 'Everything Must Go' sales in the near future. Might provide some excellent deals and opportunities to stock up, if they do. 🤔🤫
Oh No, After avoiding all grocery stores for about 6-7 years I just recently began going to Doller General. I Hope it don't close. Don't care much for the quality of the deli meats though. Kinda gross I think. I also thought some things were priced too high but like I said I been out of the game for several years due to vehicle and health reasons. Sick of having all my food delivered as well paying all those fee's. It's been nice just going to my kitchen again when hungry. i sure miss the good old days LOL
Breyers ice cream in SW Nebraska has been between 7-8.00 for last 5 yrs occasionally sale down to 4-5.00 now in last month no sale prices but regular price now is 5.59 we find that a great deal
I've never been impressed with Family Dollar, Dollar Tree , Dollar General, etc. I find Walmart is a better deal on almost everything. I also HATE the disorganized clutter of the stores and the cramped isles. I do feel for those that rely on them as their primary source for supplies and for employment.
Ikr I went in their they prices was wayyyyyy to over priced!!! They prices are high as hell!!!!! Can't see how you shop in their everybody got the dollar store candy for 1:25 they want 50 in there sad
I know that they are higher than DollarTree stand alone store ours is combined but truthfully they dont carry much for 1.25 but the seasonal decorations. The cakes and sweet cornbread snacks are 1.25 at our DT but and the Family Dollar and DT they are 1.65 a box and their tuna in pouch is also 1.65 . I think thats why so many of the stores are closing now i was happy when i thought it was good when they combined but they ended up letting all the workers go that had been there since it opened many years ago and hired all kids that has it piled up everywhere and mixes up the prices on so many things and they will not give it to you for that price and usually wont let you return it either . They have a sign up on door now all sales final.
We have no Family Dollar or Dollar Store In my area it's the Dollar Tree. They REFUSE to allow you to use their store app,or their printed nationwide store coupons. These 3 Dollar tree are at least 30 +miles apart.
They laid off thousands in Missouri as well and closed the plant moving to another bigger location. It's destroyed this little town as it employed just about everyone who lives in it

Washingtonian here. I've seen the same thing at my local dollar store as well. Fewer food items and more cleaning supplies and other household goods.
Thank you for sharing. Keep prepping and stay safe.

Employee abuse. Signs like no new stock coming in, no new people, management looks iffy, they are not talking about hours.

Again, I found the prices very high at ours years ago, and was far from impressed with the upkeep. I would be shocked if this one stays open.
Happy Sunday
This is the reason why a lot of people have stopped shopping at family dollar and dollar general and dollar tree .
Happy St Patrick's Day Danno and Jess.🍀☘️
Hi Danno and Jess❤❤❤ Good Morning ☀️
Happy St. Patrick day! Hi Jess!
Our Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and Dollar General are all basically within a half mile of one another. Family Dollar parking lot is always empty.
Wow the price of garbage bags is awful! Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash is also ridiculously priced anymore.
Went back to bar soap because bodywash is so expensive
Mine is closing and according to a worker everything is half off starting tomorrow until the store is liquidated.
Wow. That was quick. Hopefully people will be able to take advantage of the liquidation.
@@Midwestmomvolunteer365 I’m sure they will once word gets out. I think they found out earlier this week.

I can't help but wonder why a company would price itself out of business. Because FD seems to be doing that.
Good morning Danno andJess!
Store closing sign in front of the family dollar store i just drove by.
Good morning Danno and Jess☕
In this economy, what's not closing?
Unfortunately, liquor stores
Went to a local Family Dollar Tree the other day and there was a line for the checkout, it was quite busy so hopefully they don’t close!

Family dollar prices are high but it’s all we have in rural nv/ one worker in whole store
I have said all along my Family Dollar can't hold a candle to my Dollar general in Upper Peninsula Michigan
They just built and opened one here. Opened January 2024. Aberdeen South Dakota
The newly built Dollar Tree in W. TN, is basically EMPTY.

Can you ask Danno to check Krogers price for velveeta?????
Check check Best Buy dates if only a couple of months canned goods should have at least 2 years
Great job Danno 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
5-6 bucks for red baron is awful. i only buy those when kroger runs them for 299 (right now they are 399 at kroger)
Hi, I'm late. Hope you had fun in florida! Welcome back.
Its not worth it to buy food at dollar tree or family dollar its not enough food. Everything is so small......
It's 3 Family dollar stores in my area and the prices go up every Month. I stop shopping at their stores 3 months Ago.1 loaf of bread is almost $5.
They will be closing many Family Dollars. Watch the date codes carefully.
