Throttles not set up correctly , sort that it will feel better. Adjustable levers ease the clutch issue, and clunk in the gearbox is only usual in fist, on the move the feel from the box should be slick. Enjoy the magic carpet👍🏻
My favourite bike, mine does not clunk into gear except slightly when cold and only first gear, and the clutch is light with adjustable aftermarket lever, the gsx1400 is the best bike I have ever owned and Ive had a lot including a norton, hondas, ducatis and others
Hey Andrew. I missed the GSX so much I've purchased another one. It's a 2009 [built 2008] and I love it. Just going to do a few modifications, due to old age, to suit my riding style and keep it until I can't. Thanks for commenting and ride safe.
They are suppose to clunk a bit into first gear, so you know your in gear and in first, not too much of course and new/better oil can sort it out, also new fluid in the clutch is recommended every second year, hydraulic clutches are usually light and easy to use, if you have problems with a tight throttle you might want to try with a bit of lubrication or a new cable.
Ive owned my 02 for close on 18 years. Very soon u need to learn that the shocks, springs and exhaust are the 1st things that need changing. Its no good just moaning - cos these standard items suck. After that head towards the engine u can wring plenty more out of it. Finally personalise the bike paint etc. Tyres Battlax's all the way.
I personally loved the suspension on the GSX - I found it to be the best on any bike I had ridden. Be cool if you could post a video showing us the modes you have done so more of us can be the wiser. Take care and ride safe.
I had one of these when they first came out in 2002, had twin pipes back then which looked a whole lot sweeter, I fitted a 4 into 1 Akropovic exhaust and a power commander, lifted the rear shocks with special lift plates and fitted a steering damper to it, that bike was a weapon.... easily show up some so called sportsbikes.... I dont agree however that the brakes are anything special, yeah they work ok.... but the CB1300 has much much better stopping power... Nothing comes close to the engine on this bike.... its got power everywhere and when you open the exhaust up you are like... ooops redline, oops redline, oops redline.... its mad! In standard form it starts to buzz a bit at 8000rpm and you may as well change gear..
Yep. In general it is a great bike - especially in the value for money department. The red and black colour scheme looked brilliant, in my opinion, also. Glad you had time to watch during your busy schedule.
i have a 2002 and my clutch and throttle are light and smooth i do get the clunk but not bothered about it ive also got a full SS system so dont need to look at an ugly standard can waiting for it to rust away :D
the only thing i agree on is muffler to big but thats why i only buy 01=04 4 into 2, the reason for clunky gearbox is the torque 126nm k1-k4, 124nm k5-k8!! get a better clutch put in problem solved!!
Your looking at it too closely mate the bike is a great mechine. I know i own one and i'll say this i've done my home work and there's no other . In that year it stands up in looks and performance as well , how fast do you want to go . It's a piece of art .the gearboxs tuff as nails nothink wrong with it .i love the bike . It is what it is . And it will out last me . I can say thing about people too there's faults in all . You build a bike from scatch you know make one and see if you come up with that .mmm😉
It is Suzuki thing clunking into first gear rest of it should be as good as a bike gets both up and down. Throttle needs adjusting if it feels heavy, and short adjustable levers will sort out the clutch. Enjoy the old barge as I do mine.
Two and a half years ??? I think ya got that wrong Noel. It was just last week you got the Mothership wasn't it ?? She's a beautiful bike. Side on, front on. Whichever way ya look at her. And never mind about the top box. I'm sure we could photoshop that out. Ha ha ha !!!!
Ya think so. A lot of folk like a louder after market noise but not me and you ah Mr nzbeeker. It's hard to beat the linear smoothness of a Japanese in line 4 in my humble opinion. Thanks for watching. Do you have a new job yet?
Mothership Videos that’s it, there is a big movement out there who feel loud pipes save lives. I think the6 are flippen enjoying. Have you ever ridden in a pack, right behind a loud bike. Not nice long distance.
Regarding stiff clutch lever the master AND slave cylinders need rebuilding and fresh clutch fluid. Not a major job and not expensive clutch will feel like new afterwards super light and smooth
Very minor problems I've them for years loved them . Big old bus plenty of power. Comfortable never had any problems whatsoever ever.
Pretty much sums them up. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
One of my favourite bikes of all time. Thank you for sharing.
TPR they are a good bike but starting to get a bit dated now I suppose. Your bike is similar and a bit lighter I'm picking.

A great ride and a good looker. Sounds good, loud enough to be heard and quiet enough to enjoy the ride.
Thanks for taking time out in your busy schedule to have a look at my post and of course your kind words Mr buzzsah.
I have always liked the Suzuki GSX1400 .
I think your wheels are sweet. You obviously keep it in top notch condition judging by what I've seen in your Vlogs.
Yes I try to keep ruby in good condition, some people ask what year is it and when I say 2006 they cant believe it!

well I think you really like it there's a few things but all easy to change thumbs up and shared
Thank you Drew.
Time passes fast when you're having fun. Nice review Noel. Overall sound like a good bike. Have a great weekend my friend.
Thanks Lloyd. I hope you have a good one as well.

I have a GSX1400 and a ZRX1100 and the ZRX has by far the most clunky gearbox.
You forgot the color is just awesome! Seems like a great bike over all.

Nice bikes alright just to big for this old man. thanks for watching and ride safe.

Don't get me wrong I loved that bike and wished I'd kept it even just to look at in the garage. I agree she is a great machine. ride safe.

Ever since you mentioned the bloody "top box" I've come to dislike it! It does seem like a couple of weeks ago Marty. How time flies.
I know its old video but listening to this that clicking your chain sounds too tight but im looking to get one of these myself soon - ride safe bud
I think it might have been the front brakes. Noise went when I put in new pads. Thanks for watching.
Sounds good too

Yep I agree. Embarrassing some times.
Your throttle and clutch must not be adjusted properly
Cool video, I have done a similar thing in my garage, I like your video so I have linked to it in my description. Also subbed you cheers
Thanks very much. I'll have to check your channel out.
Sorry but if it has that meany don’t likes sell it & try & a better bike , had mine 12 yrs still get a big smile on my face when I rider it .
Regarding stiff clutch lever the master AND slave cylinders need rebuilding and fresh clutch fluid. Not a major job and not expensive clutch will feel like new afterwards super light and smooth
Your right that would have cured the stiff clutch. Miss that bike.
Wish they had sold that in the United States
Yes it was a shame that. Thanks for watching.
❤ mi life
It was mi [my] life.😎
Someone stole half of your exhaust! Lol
I think you should have got a Honda 50.
I know but. I thought I could handle it!
Crrosion is terrible. Xjr1300 has less spec but overall is a much better bike and prettier too
