I was at this show. One of the best shows I've ever attended. Little did I know what would happen the next night. Thanks to all for a great show. RIP Stevie & Jeff.
Saw Jeff Healy, stood right at the stage. Too say this guy was one of the best guitar players on planet earth is an understatement. It was quite obvious that he didnt have to think about what he was doing. He never had to look so it makes sense. Even the greatest players whoever you think they are watch themselves while they are playing once in awhile which means they are conscious of what they are doing. Jeff Healys guitar playing flowed just like opening a tap and walking away and letting it run. It was endless. SRV knew it.
Clapton is and will always be one of the best as he has a willingness to play with all of the gun players and does it without fear or favour. Not many others have done or do it like he does - he doesn’t fear them - it is just music - but he absolutely enjoys them and let’s them run as it elevates him to challenge himself. You can only do that when respect is in the house. Two almighty players pushing each other and loving it.
i love this because eveytime you see Eric gets pushed , he always steps up, and he then sound like the good ol Cream days....listen,listen..he takes a second at 5.08..love this! Jeff Healey...wish he was still around..really do.
@ joelliotjake1: You are absolutely right about E.C. needing to be pushed to be at his best.I saw Eric 3-4 times, each time with different high-caliber musicians in his band or as guests - folks like Albert Lee and Duck Dunn - who'd get out there and kick Eric in the butt a bit, which always seemed to bring out his best playing. Jeff Healey with Eric C. - man, sorry, I missed that one! Must have been great. Did get to see him with Mark Knopfler, though.... ; ) and with Albert Lee and Ry Cooder on another.
@@steveoconnor7069remind me of that video of he playing with The Allman Brothers at 2009 when they play the song "In Memory Of Elizabeth" after EC finish his solo, he said to Derek "The last time I played like that was at the 60's"
It was pretty traumatic for him when Jimmy Hendrix cut him on stage. No one could believe it. This probably has something to do with it. Talk about a courageous person, Clapton exemplifies this. He’s open to things and as a result he’s even better now, because of his hard work and attitude. He grew as a player better than most.
I was at this show. The best part of the whole night was when they played sunshine of your love.Eric went over to jeff and said I'm guessing ok take a solo.Jeff tore it up, brought people to their feet. Eric stood back and watched in amazement. It was awesome.I will always remember Jeff for that. What a tragedy the next day though.
You are so Right! Every single performance I watch of E.C. playing together with another, powerhouse blues guitarist, Clapton ALWAYS seems to nail it! He regularly sets the bar very high for others joining on stage with him! As for Healey, he had an unmatched ultra-large sound and amazingly KILLER tone that leaves me in awe everytime I watch and listen to him!
what a SICK ASS version of this song....Jeff Healey was an amazing guitar player.....One of my inspirations that made me wanna learn how to play....RIP Jeff
It is awsome that we can hear this now. Good that they got together when Jeff was still with us. Thank God Eric is still with us. That boy can bend them strings!
ascoop22 that was bad i watch some of the old guitar players they were awsome and they could make money then i reckon these down loads have messed everything up on sunday everybody would listen to the charts and on monday they would be out buying that record i reckon if the top forty came back you would hear lot more bands playing where is our great talent gone and even the other day i said u never see any coloured people now and they wer brillant they got you dancing lol
Dave D Actually, Stevie died in a helicopter crash following a show at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin on August 27. This was recorded on August 25, according to the title. But Stevie was indeed touring with Clapton, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, and his brother Jimmy at this time, with whom he had just finished the concert at Alpine Valley. The concert was actually on the night of August 26, but by the time it ended, and SRV had boarded the helicopter and crashed shortly after take-off, it was 12:50 AM, making it August 27. Several of Claptons' entourage were killed in the crash as well.
Dogheadj Stevie wasn't touring with Clapton or any of the others. Maybe Jimmy. They all met up at Alpine for that weekend festival only. I remember waiting for the news on that day of who actually died on the helicopter that was booked for Clapton and his keepers. I thought it was going to be Eric but wasn't relieved any when they finally said who it was. Peace.
Was here for sat and sunday, robert cray, srv and clapton. Plus special guests like mr. jeff healey. Sad day on that sunday when srv crashed in a helicopter en rout to play at legends. Brings back a lot of memories. What a weekend of legends.
There is no best but how many other blind guitarists got to play with Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was one of the best it's too bad your simple brain can't appreciate it.
When guitar magazine asked Mr Ed Van Halen,"what does it feel like to be the best guitarist in the world". He simply said ,"I don't know, go ask Jeff Healey ". To this day I don't know a more humble, talented human than Mr Van Halen.....one things for sure. I am bringing my strat to the other side
I saw him at the Commodore Ball room in Vancouver 1989. His bass player would guid him back to his chair. I’m never being moved more than by Jeff Healeys guitar playing. Pure emotion. Jeff is one of the greats

Thanks for sharing! I was at this show but the coke-head who drove us wanted to leave early because his blow was in the car. We missed this tune and the encore with Buddy Guy, SRV, Cray and Clapton.
I was introduced to Jeff Healey whose playing was somewhat influenced by a friend of mine who I was doing some recording with back in the 80s who was also from a fairly known band and Jeff always recognized my voice, the last time I saw him was when my GF and I went out to a friend's CD release party and he sat right in front of us to sit in with another friend of mine band as a surprise guest, now my friend was a really outstanding blues guitarist but when Jeff took over my friend's jaw dropped to the floor !
