Very interesting to see people working on the railways . Unlike today where you never see any track maintenance, just rusted rails running newish locomotives and refurb wagons . The rails are so bad it cause so much noise and vibration inside passenger cars .

Retired SAA pilot here. Those were certainly the good old days!!! Everything has been trashed, EXCEPT the memories.

An amazing video of a time when the fabulous SA Transport Services was the employer of the largest number of employees of any organisation in both in Africa and the entire Southern Hemisphere. The SA Railways serviced not only South Africa, but transported freight, passengers and millions of tons of export goods to most other countries in Africa. What a legendary organisation it was.
But, South Africa has gone from the third most powerful economy on Earth to junk status in far less than 30 years. The big question is HOW???
What an earth-shattering mess we are in under an absolutely useless current regime!!!

Those were the days. Sadly a ew order has taken over. The railways can no longer be relied on, a d the Airways is all but gone.
    So why has this happened.
Thank God I was bourne into this age depicted in the film. But it has all change now. Such a shame.

It's interesting to know how hard people worked in the old days, to keep South African railway lines and trains in mint condition, now it's an eyesore, metro rail nearly collapsed, infrastructure falling apart, fraud and corruption destroying the the most important method of transport to Cary big quantities of humans and cargo
