    Great advice. I have a few antique shops that sell on consignment and I have picked up a few good coins here and there for very cheap. I also have noticed paying with cash I get silver change back a lot lately. I average a few coins a month.

    We've been talking to our 17yo son about him buying a small amount of silver with each pay check. His reply was saying that he didn't make that much money and he just couldn't afford it. My reply was "it's two trips to Taco Bell" (he eats it, not us 🤢). I swear I saw the light bulb turn on

    We’ve been slowly purchasing silver every chance we can get. We only get about $10 at a time because it is all we can afford right now, but it will add up over time. We understand that even if we don’t make it to a huge amount, we can still barter to cover ourselves in other areas.

    Yes! This is what I try to explain to people! In this context, a dime is incredibly discounted. When the fiat crashes, silver will go back to its true value. Only fools say “can’t eat silver”. When it hits the fan, silver will be king.

    I personally ignore the spot. I buy on a regular basis, buy more on the dip. Metals are still a bargain thus far. We are using silver in almost EVERYTHING and not really trying to recover it. When the etf's go away, and we find out what really is left. Well, silvers real value will be known. Might even be more value than gold. We are in a new technology driven era. Wasn't so in years past.

  • @chadthomas09
    @chadthomas09 3 месяца назад

    Most of us end up with pre-64 coins in our pocket from change on a daily basis you can hold those back and as far as a silver ounce goes whether it's a Canadian or US ounce anything under 35 bucks ( silver still under that) is a steel get it while you can that's not that much especially if you do it just once a month or once a week that's not much at all
    So many people complaining in the comments have the delusion they have to buy all of it all at once you do it little-by-little just like your other preps

    I wonder if the today's wage would be a bit more than a dime's worth of silver due to the fact that we have 8billion+ people on the earth which means more workers to dig and process silver thus decreasing the value of silver.

    doing some research. Denarius = 4.5 grams of silver & 1890 dime = 2.25 grams of silver. Question: Do you think the value of labor has decline 50% in 2000 years? I like the argument of silver/labor values, but this fact is making me scratch my head.

    • @Anamericanhomestead
      @Anamericanhomestead  3 месяца назад +2

      Well first off, you need to understand that many many roman emperors would adjust the silver content up and down so there is no true constant to the amount of grams in a denarius despite what you may find online. Second, to the common man, all he knew was the size and shape and that it was silver. More educated people would remove the higher content silver from circulation (Greshams law) and spend the lesser quality denari.
      So a gram plus or minus, the dime and denari were very similar in size and silver content if you didn't know any better. This is also WHY in the king James version, it's called a pence. Because the British 6 pence is ALSO the same size and the translators in the 1400s wanted to convey to the reading audience just how much silver was being paid for the job in the story of the good Samaritan. The pence, denari, and dime. All "basically" the same. 2000 years of consistency.

    • @FireflyHomestead

      In the event of an event, the logic goes, its harder to slice off a (weighted) piece of silver for trade, however keeping some silver dimes or quarters make trading easier. Troy ounces for larger items, coins for everyday barter.

    Not only is the disparity of silver to gold at lets just say 10 to 1 for simplicity sake, out of whack in our current prices. over 50% of all silver mined has been lost due to industrial processes. Either in such minute quantities in consumers good now in Landfills that's not worth extracting, or has been turned into vapor during recycling processes and is now impossible to recollect. The price of silver today should be closer to $450 per troy ounce.
