Stevie Nicol is so on point and correct. They gave the player Mbappe a player option instead of a club option. Now they are acting like he violated his contract but that is not case. PSG could have sale agreement with another team in this window but it won't happen because the player is not gonna sign off on it. So, he stays at PSG and leaves on a free at the end of the 2023/24 season for Real Madrid.

I think PSG did this to themselves. You cannot give one player absolute power and then expect the player to just give it back. There were talks of unfulfilled promises to MBappe, etc. That's on PSG. Mbappe is a talented player who is young, hungry to win trophies and earn big money, which is not rare for players like him. PSG did not protect themselves in those contracts issued to Mbappe over the years.

PSG have a big role to blame in this whole Kylian Mbappe soap opera and how they have handled his future it just continues to add to this who circus going on at PSG. The season starts in 3 weeks yet PSG are still a circus. He signed a 2 year contract extension with rich amount of money and there was an option for him to stay at PSG for a 3rd year and since last year he’s told them that he’ll see out his contract in 2024 and then make the move to Real Madrid and for me he has every right in doing that I have no issue in a player running down the contract that they gave to him and yes he kinda disrespected them in some sense don’t get me wrong but he shouldn’t be forced out left out of the squad and bench him for an entire season you’re basically telling one of the best players in the world right now is decide your future and if you want to see out your contract we’ll bench you for an entire season. PSG have the right to do that but are going too far in all of this and since they have a new coach we know there needs to be structure and discipline within the squad informing these egos that no player is bigger than the club he’s not done anything wrong in handling his own future when the club has known this since last year.
I think PSG are a football club that hasn’t been ran very well and the owners have lacked the common sense needed to run a proper sporting project and this has contributed in them consistently failing in the champions league every season with the money they’re spending and it’s clear that they’ve made too many bad decisions and have created monsters in these players and it’s part of why the players think they can do whatever they want paying 200 million for Neymar then giving him a contract extension in 2021 and then next year you want rid of him and cannot sell him, changing the coaches too many times, not building a competitive squad and the most obvious thing that explains the lack of control PSG have was giving Mbappe that huge contract. That’s the situation they got themselves in because you renewed his deal with all that money gives him ability to have a lot of power he believing that he’s bigger than the club and is allowed to call all the shots and do whatever he wants. They gave him too much power and control last year and it was inappropriate from PSG because none of this is happening at Real Madrid Manchester City Liverpool or any proper football team they’re never giving an individual player that much authority. PSG must accept his departure since things won’t improve in the coming days between the club and the player and for everyone’s interest it’s better he leaves right now as the relationship is broken and there’s no coming back even with the money he’s getting paid he shouldn’t settle for a wasted season where he won’t play football until 2024 when he sees out his PSG contract.
PSG's main concern was more about him activating that 3rd optional year moreso than him seeing out his contract in 2024.
He never gave them any guarantees that he would, but it was implied that he would, so that he wouldn't leave for free. So now that he isn't, they're stuck with a dilemma.
The question now is: would Real Madrid really want to pay an exorbitant transfer fee when he'll effectively be a free agent in just 6 months?!

PSG have put themselves in this mess and are trying to get out it by being ruthless with the best player on the team but the player involved in this situation also has himself to blame as well. PSG are acting like he should stay forever and yes you gave him a short form contract extension and it was good while it lasted and now things have reached rock bottom and this was always the expected outcome between Kylian Mbappe and PSG as soon as they have him that big contract extension last year. We know that sooner or later he’ll be at Real Madrid and the club knew that a long time ago and for the players footballing career we’ve said this for a very long time last season the other season and for many years he should’ve moved a while ago should’ve made the move last summer but didn’t and the political pressure and money have put him in a situation where he can the club will have an ugly divorce and we expected some of this to happen. We’re all just sick and tired of the saga that happens every summer and there’s been so many twists and turns and this is the summer where he finally leave PSG and will do that as he needs to get on a proper squad and get on with his career and be the best player in the world. For PSG he wants to go to Real Madrid and they have to let him go this summer we know he’ll be there but for them rebuilding the team and making sure that a project is put in place makes a lot of sense rather than paying loads of cash for an unwanted superstar and build the team around a player who won’t stay at the club for the long run. I hope this situation is resolved in the coming days because at this point I really don’t care and I want the announcement of Kylian Mbappe officially being a Real Madrid player and it’ll happen in the next couple of weeks I don’t want any surprises he’s leaving that club once and for all.
By the end of this week if not Monday or Tuesday it will be resolved. It has to happen before 31st of July or else they HAVE to pay him his loyalty fee. There is no wiggle room if they past that date.
There is an ongoing thread of an insider at madrid that spilled the tea that is has been done for a while now (over 30 days) and that this is just a PR campaign to remake PSG, mbappe and madrid in this scenario. So far everything they said 35 days ago has come to pass. So I think it will happen this week.

Neymar played 173 games in 6 years : less than 30 each year... and he often misses big games in UCL. Sure he has a lot of talent but sorry he is more a problem than anything else. Messi was bad last year (so hard to go away from Barça : no problem with him) and didn't made a lot this year after the WC beacause he already decided to go. None of Messi, Neymar or Mbappé is a real problem, the problem is the trio, which can't work well in the conditions PSG gave em (weak midfield and chokers in defense). If sometimes the trio works well against big teams, it never works on back to back games.

it just raised a situation when a good player didn't want to sign a new contract and want to leave a club. both side interest conflict, in this case, i don't think there was any club would spend more than 200 million to buy a player after neymar in the football world. but now get a good or extrodinay player as Mbappe in free will be a normal in the future if they have similar situation that a player don't want to sign a new contract with their club
PSG did not do enough due diligence on the possible time lines if they were eventually trying to sell him. That’s on them and these are the consequences.
If Kylian Mbappe stayed and run down his contract, not gonna lie, Real Madrid would be having the heist of the century. Nobody that good should go for free and clubs will certainly lobbied for new ruling to make sure it will never repeat itself
why would they want a new ruling to be made? it's PSG's fault for being so selfish and egoistic and got themselves in this situation. i don't disagree that it's crazy if real madrid get him for free, but there's no obligation to buy him when they can get him on a free transfer after his contract ends, which is entirely legal by the way.

You can not cry foul when you created it. Mbappe can sit on the bench all season long no matter what they do. He is 24 and will be a free Agent after that without breaking any contract. PSG its their own fault and own doing, so don't blame anyone else. And why would Mbappe move to ManU, ManCity or other teams, when he always wanted to move to Real? for money?
