Those are usually 550mwh Batteries meaning you would need about 14 of them to fully charge some modern phones but its still better than them ending up in a dumpster
I've done an extensive amount of testing with these cylindrical pouch cells out of vapes. Anywhere from 600mAh to 1450mAh. I used 14 of the 1450mAh ones to build a 7S2P pack and attached a couple different boards including a 65W PD/PPS buck module which I connected to a Macbook and was able to obtain the full 65W charge rate from it. There are 0 datasheets publicly available for these cells as far as I know. I emailed EVE for some and never got a response back so not sure if they even share them with the public. I would be very careful about using these. You have no idea what the max discharge rate is without the datasheet. I tested a handful of cells about 20 tests in total from 1A to 5A measuring temp and plotting voltage throughout discharge. The 1450's seemed like 2C continuous/3C burst max.
Thanks for the comment and the details! I've also done some testing as well as spoken to one of these companies and here's what I've put together. I was lucky enough to find the 550mAh lithium cell that I often use datasheet, the datasheet for this specific cell indicates that it has a fairly stock standard lithium cell charge and discharge (no more than an amp, min 2.8 volts, max 4.2 and so on) To be extra safe I've also run them through a lithium capacity tester a few times and its discharge profile remains consistent as well as its capacity (allowing for a 5% margin of error from the cheapish tester). And finally, I hope spoken with a company that produces these and I've been told that these are standard lithium batteries that they get from Chinese factories, they go for lithium instead of Alkaline as it has a better shelf life (that sounded weird to be but I do not know a lot about battery chemistry). I'm told that they have to use high-quality lithium batteries as their products are used near a person's face, I'm also told that they don't use recycled batteries (in some of their products) as the battery becomes too dangerous to use near a persons face once it hits 1 - 5% degradation (which happens at 10 - 50 cycles). Ultimately I'm quite comfortable using these batteries based on my own tests, I also use them in parallel at low current so its very little strain on each battery, but I completely agree with your concern and need for testing. I wish these single-use products didn't exist.
Who the hell not able to STOP the manufacturers doing that? The mining, the processing of lithium metal, the battery producing is INSANE amount of resources, and they just using for vaping once! Is drive me nuts!
these cells is of high quality also as vape need allot of current these battery are rated 10c+ for its size is quite impressive a single 300mah cell is capable of qc fast charge
I get these batteries from all the people who vape at work, I solder on a charging module and add a USB torch and honestly it's so handy having dozens of small torches that you can just fill a job site up with
These things need to be banned. We are out here making single use plastics a criminal offence, and passing no laws making it illegal to develop new ways to waste single use electronics
I run a vape shop and I absolutely will not sell disposable vapes. Not only are they one of the worst single-use plastic devices from an environmental standpoint, but also, salt is 60 times more addictive than freebase nicotine is making it insanely difficult to quit, and there's studies that have found salt nic to be a contributing factor in things like Alzheimer’s or dementia and might even lead to certain kinds of cancers after repeated, long term exposure to it. It's really, really bad for you. I'm not out there saying vaping is 100% safe for everyone in any way. It's about HARM REDUCTION. Salt nic is increasing the likelihood of doing severe harm to yourself. Please don't use salt nic.
You really shouldnt touch the parts with your bare hands. I have been working with these and the smell is insanely strong and nicotine can be absorbed into the skin. Make sure to use PPE when working with things such as this. The nicotine bleeds. I am honestly surprised these arent banned due to the health risk after disposed.
I mean, it's insany the fact that those things can be sell? Guys think about it: a fucking SINGLE use vape that contains a bloodhell usable battery that will be toss away... wtf???
I've collected lots of cells from this things.I never leave one if i see it on the streets, just use pliers to remove the tip that gets sucked. Also my sister vapes and collects them for me so lots of free 1000 mha cells for projects 😂
Wouldn't be cheaper for the manufacturers of single used vapes to use unreachable batteries instead? I don't understand why they don't use them, it could make their vape much cheaper or make them more money if they charge the same price as those of lithium batteries.
I think rechargeable batteries are more mass manufactured than non-rechargeable and thus cheaper. The company that made these just went for the cheaper option without a care about what this will do the environment.
My friend owns a vape shop and sells tons of these. Getting a 3D printer for his shop and making these with the dead batteries would be really cool. Maybe sell the chargers at a discount if you bring in your dead vape.
Or get a discount on your next vape by bringing in the old one. Even if he don't make chargers keep those flammable batteries out of landfills. I'm also surprised manufacturers don't have buy backs.
