I really hope it does turn into a class action suit. We could use our tithing back. My husband became disabled and unable to work in 2023. He had to retire at 60 in order for us to live on his pension and disability. We gave in the ballpark of 5-10 thousand dollars a year for the last 37 years. It would be nice to have a little more to live on...
I love your daily updates. You are a beautiful person and I appreciate your work. I went bankrupt more than once because I lost jobs. I paid tithing and had no savings to carry me over until I found a job. The financial position of the church is disgusting. I have resigned my membership due to the financial issues of the church among other things I learned. You confirm that I made the right decision. Thank you
I’m still so baffled how TBMs unbothered by the tithing fraud/sec thing. I’d already been out for over a decade but it that news still crushed me. The deceit was so massive and the church just shrugged.
I have heard members say that they don't care what the church does with their donations to include burning it if they want to. There are church members out their who will blindly follow church general authorities wherever they may lead.
I didn't know about it as a TBM. All I remember was headlines saying the church was wealthy, but I didn't understand how vast that wealth was/is. The TBM blinders can be very effective.
As a TBM maybe I’d be harder on the church had the SEC actually took them to court and got a conviction. The SEC gave them a minimal fine and the church wasn’t forced to admit guilt… in America we are innocent until proven guilty… the Church hasn’t been found guilty in a court of law…
My wife and I have a way better relationship outside of the church than we ever did inside the church. Plus, the relationships I have with my friends feels way deeper than any friendships I had in the church.
Yes, I still feel sad that my children had mostly thrift shop clothing. That 132,000.00 over three decades would have bought the four of them some really nice outfits.
I love how you zeroed in on the transactional aspect of LDS teachings- so unlike the love we have with our own children... and as it turns out, unlike what Jesus taught over and over in the Bible. It amazes me that after 40 years in the LDS church and a mission in the bible belt, I was never able to see the beauty in bible stories like the Pharisee and the Tax Collector (Luke 18), the thief on the cross, the woman at the well,... and so many more where Jesus makes it clear that it is only what He did that has anything to do with making us right with a holy God, and that complete salvation is a free gift and not something we can earn by transactional obedience to laws and ordinances. Keep up the great work!
@UTTX. That’s why you do discovery and go to court. They have already demonstrated to the court that statements by Pres hinkley contradicts the info from Ensign Peak whistleblower. Only rebuttals is the church saying they have used money for other charities. Proof? We will see if the court lets churches have no responsibility about for what they say about tithing usage.
@@GenerallyUnquotable not likely… James Huntsman already tried to make all these same arguments and was laughed out of court…and that was in California mind you, what do you think is going to happen in a Utah based court…

Disgraceful how many Saints voted for Trump. My first point. My second one is that I have one of my best friends have known him for over 40 years and he and his wife were always active in Church. A few years ago they became inactive then pretty much left the Church and he has told me they are happier, closer together and now have time for each other. They seem happy, they seem calmer and I am still friends with them even if other members are not.....I still go to Church but I am there hoping that things will change......
@@daverichards308 I felt the same way the last two years I attended. Nothing changed. My last day at church was almost 2 years ago. The LDS church today is a fraud. The church Russell runs is the same church that Brigham started in 1844. The church Joseph Smith restored in 1830 fell into complete apostasy after he and Hyrum were murdered. The restored church died, but the remnants of it splintered into many directions. Brigham was a businessman. He wanted power, money, and sex. He got all three by taking his own church in a different direction. He was a very disgusting man. the reason I left the church is because I finally realized I’ve never been a member of Joseph’s restore church, the church I joined many years ago, was the church of Brigham Young. That’s why there are so many things wrong with it today, no prophets, no seers and no revelators. just a bunch of lawyers and businessmen running a $300 billion corporation, telling its members to pay tithing no matter what. Pay tithing so you won’t burn. Pay tithing, even if you can’t feed your children.
Yes god protects his buildings but all others be damned. God doesn’t listen to all those people who were praying to be safe. Have the faith to not get an answer?!?!
The tithing thing infuriates me. Generations of my family have donated land and paid tithing. I’m also trying to find out the latest rumor that the top 15 are receiving $300,000 annual stipend. This in addition to all the perks that they and their family members get. There is so much nepotism around them.
Years ago, Eyerings earning statement was leaked. I don't know that another has been leaked but I think the $300,000 comes from calculating cost of living raises. The top leaders certainly want for absolutely nothing.
at 12:10... and speaking of coming back in the next life, the LDS scriptures like D&C 76:74 and Alma 34 are pretty clear that the Celestial Kingdom isn't available to even the good and honorable people who "are blinded by the craftiness of men" but later accept the testimony of Jesus. I get the feeling Bro. You'd think a church, run by Jesus, would just give it back because they know you need it more than they do. 😩

I would have settled for food, clothes, and housing. We paid tithing while simultaneously struggling to pay rent and buy groceries.

The court case is basically about if churches can lie about how they use the money they ask of believers.
I don’t even know that he can prove the Church lied…

Church buildings survive fires because they are big concrete buildings surrounded by asphalt parking. Very little to burn.
